“My love and I dined here last night. Our server was wonderful, and she enticed me with the Sea Bass Special. I've never ordered a special before, and..wow. The buttery flakiness of the fish, the perfect rice, and the bright salad dressing sent me to the moon. The old woman (delightful) brought us this amazing giant bread. Sara had the chicken kabob, and the meat was delectable. Our entire meal was amazing. $58 for two people (I had one Budweiser) is amazing. “The Freedom Cafe has been my go-to place this year. The people are so welcoming and friendly. Angie is always all smiles and somehow remembers most of the patrons' names (how does she do that??). I love the ambiance - good music and great vibes. Amazing drinks (the Almond Joy latte and the tiramisu latte are both oh so good!) and delicious healthy fresh food (my favorite is the 2-egg omelet with pico de gallo and spinach). Durham is so lucky to have this place. I will continue to make the drive from Dover.“

“I was planning to go to a different downtown restaurant and walked in to this one as it started raining. The waitress took every effort to ensure our dietary requirements were taken care of. They had quite a few veggie burger options. We picked The Cool Beans, which came with a black bean and corn patty. She was quite transparent with the fact that they used the same fryer and oil for frying meat,veggie appetizers and fries. So, she substituted fries with freshly sliced avocado. The burger itself was thick and juicy. We ordered a PB& Chocolate milkshake that capped out dinner. They went out of the way to limit cross contamination. Will definitely return.“

Food - Menu has good variety, the lobsters come in daily, cooked just right. The view across the river to Portsmouth is like no other, plus the river traffic and bridge openings, lobster boats, big ships, tugs, you name it. River breezes tend to keep things a little cooler. No substitutions. I was willing to pay for the upgrade. No go. I live in the area and there are a lot of other options which I'll be trying.“

“When we go to the garage we will typically eat at the Inn first then go next door to the garage, a large outdoor area with a lot of seating. There is a stage on which all different bands play throughout the warmer months. When it is colder they sometimes have music inside. It is a very fun atmosphere, people are very friendly and the servers are the best!! They seem to know everyone, remember what you like to order and are super friendly. Always service with a big smile!! You will also see the owners frequently walking around at the garage and the inn as well and they are very friendly too!
