“Surf was recommended as a place to try while we were in Portsmouth. It turned out to be a great choice. We arrived for an early dinner (5 pm) and were able to get a window table with a beautiful view of the harbor. My wife and I shared a house salad with sesame vinaigrette dressing, a bowl of clam chowder, and the roasted haddock with lobster mashed potatoes. Every dish exceeded our expectations. The roasted haddock really stood out- it was cooked perfectly with a butter/cornichon pan sauce and a surprising amount of lobster in the mashed potatoes. Our server did an excellent job. This restaurant is highly recommended. They do not take reservations.“

“Chauncey Creek is always excellent. Now that I live outside the US, I make sure to schedule my visits during the open season. The food (steamers and lobsters) was perfectly prepared and delicious. Even the sides (coleslaw, corn on the cob and onion rings) were amazing. The setting on Chauncey Creek, with a view toward Portsmouth Harbor really adds to to the ambience. And the stars are all super welcoming, efficient and friendly. This is our go-to destination for exceptional seafood in a classic, rustic setting.“

“I have been eating there for years. I went the other night because I was craving scallops. I got my usual scallops and tried to substitute o-rings for fries. The girl told me it wasn't allowed. No substitutions. I was willing to pay for the upgrade. No go. I live in the area and there are a lot of other options which I'll be trying.“

“Just a quick note from someone who never writes reviews. Sitting at The Beach Plum with my three kiddos and so impressed and grateful for the wonderful service we’ve received here. We had a tiny issue with one meal which was immediately acknowledged and fixed tenfold. Two members of the team checked on us several times after to make sure we were doing okay and then sent us home with an extra meal for later on the house. It's important to set your expectations accordingly, as they provide only paper plates, plastic cups, and plastic silverware. If you’re okay with that, I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Portsmouth. The ambiance is very pleasant, situated on the water with a lovely view of boats passing by. “From the start I felt I was walking into a dream. Beautiful and unexpected decor. Stylish, Upscale, Modern. Not what I'm familiar with in most Asian restaurants. Enchanting and romantic.

As they say, 'you eat with your eyes first', and right off the bat, my eyes were telling me we were about to dive into something flavorful, delicious and satifying.
The Pho noodle bowl with shrimp was steaming and presented with a side of garnishes; basil, mint, jalapeno, bean sprouts, lime wedges and a little dish of the best house made hot sriracha. Wow! Packed a flavor-filled punch. We used every bit of it. (Will take tums later).
The grilled lemongrass chicken thighs were juicy and so, so good. Excellent alongside a perfect bowl of garlic ftied rice.

The servers were so friendly and helpful when we asked questions about origins of some of the dishes.

If I lived anywhere near this place it would be a frequent dining choice.
Or even to come for cocktails. The bar is stunning. We had a 3 hour drive to home ahead of us so we couldn't induge. But, if they put as much care into making a good drink as they do into everything else, I'm certain it's worth a visit to just relax and enjoy a drink while sitting at the gorgeous bar.

I hope we travel this way again soon. Will be a top choice on my list of dining places to enjoy.“

“This place is an absolute gem tucked away in York Village. The atmosphere is cozy and casual, and the staff was very friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. My girlfriend and I got the salmon bacon salad and the chicken and gravy and were blown away by both of them. The ingredients are incredible and fresh, meaning that not only does the food taste good, it makes you feel good! They also are extremely accommodating of dietary restrictions and care a lot about the health and safety of their customers! Their homemade ice cream sandwich for dessert was the cherry on top. Will absolutely be coming back and can’t recommend this place enough.“

When I emailed them a month ago to see if I could reserve a spot, George was quick to respond and offer some affordable options. Our waitress, Laurie was wonderful and did a great job handling our crew.
