“Had a fantastic experience at Al Dente in Elmwood Park. This is a great neighborhood Italian restaurant with that warm, family-run feeling that makes a meal here feel much more personal.

The menu has a great selection of classic Italian dishes, from homemade pasta and ravioli to chicken, veal, seafood, and some really good appetizers. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and everything has that comforting, homemade quality you want from an Italian restaurant. I also really like that it’s BYOB, which makes it a great option for a relaxed dinner.

The ownership was a pleasure to talk to, and I really enjoyed our conversation. You can tell there’s genuine pride in the restaurant and in creating a great experience for their customers.

As far as chicken n Waffles d*** fuk unless u specify fried chicken and waffles, u will get tenders as for the gravy stupid for ur chicken, ur supposed to use syrup with this plate. If you did get fried chicken the cost would go up, duhh let me guess u would b**** about that to. My friend broke her wine glass towards the end of our meal (we were both finished eating our main courses) and the maitre d' offered to give us two new main courses because there was food left on our plates and they were concerned about glass shards in our food. “We happened to be walking by on a Friday night and my husband pointed it out. Our pasta was fresh and delicious and served so quickly. The staff was beyond attentive and professional. The bathrooms were gorgeous and clean. It delivered on all aspects. We had Zeppole with lemon curd for dessert and it was unreal!“

“Our experience at Canto was overall pretty great! We there there for happy hour (4-6pm) dinner and got the frozen espresso martini, sorrento martini, buccatini alla carbonara, and black ink linguini at the recommendation of our server Arpee.
Both drinks were good with the espresso martini being nicely balanced and the sorrento having a nice refreshing lemon flavor. The food was also good with the carbonara a bit salty for our tastes due to how much pancetta they used but still balanced nicely with the sauce 6.5/10. The squid ink pasta was quite good with the fra diavolo sauce being well seasoned and balanced nicely with acidity from the cherry tomatoes. The shrimp and calamari were cooked well and were a nice compliment to the fresh squid ink pasta which was also done well 8/10. There was also complimentary bread which was charred over a grill and olive oil with sweet peppers to dip into.
Service was also excellent with our server Arpee happily giving recommendations and steering us in the right direction with his knowledge of the menu.
Overall the total came out to ~$87 which is pretty reasonable in the city. Definitely would recommend Canto to someone and will go again!“
