“I'm all about trying new things and during a random stroll in Englewood I walked into Gong Cha. It was a quiet afternoon and so it wasn't too busy but I've always wanted to try the drinks they were advertising. From the minute I walked in I was greeted by the staff member who allowed me to take my time reviewing the menu to finalize my decision. I ended up going with the passionfruit green tea and I promise you, you won't regret trying it! It was so tasteful and the fact I got to decide my sugar levels within it was great. It was actually a bit comical when asked what sugar level I wanted because the level wording confused me but the staff member educated me on what she meant and I was super excited to try my drink. It was super refreshing and thirst quenching and I highly recommend it if you're in the area to try it out.“

I’ve tried so many spots in Astoria and Vela is consistently yummy. Today. I went in for a milk tea and they ran out of boba. She went an extra mile to charge me for a medium despite me ordering a large! Soooo sweet. ??“

“Delicious! Stumbled upon this place when I was searching for a quick bite. I ordered delivery and the food came very quickly. I was pleasantly surprised how big and hefty the bowls were! We got the bulgogi rice bowl and a make your own bowl with fried chicken. Both had generous heaping portions of meat. I would say my appetite is fairly large and I couldn't even finish half of my bowl! The bulgogi was tender and juicy, and the vegetables that came with my bowl were delicious. The make your own bowl was also phenomenal! The cucumber kimchi and pickled turnips were some of my favorites. Definitely adding this place to my regular rotation of meals and I can't wait to have it again!“

We ordered the Braised Pork Belly Donburi and the Ebi Tama Donburi and absolutely loved both of them. The pork belly was tender and succulent, a wonderful combo with the rice and greens. The Ebi Taka was shrimp tempura along with egg and rice. Both of the portions were large! I had the chocolate boba. a perfect balance to the saltier entree. We'll be back!“
“The dolgana latte was a good blend of honey and coffee. The pumping spice really tasted like it should be and is earthy and doesn't taste artificial. My favorite was the sugar free vanilla latte. It was a good blend of sweet and again it didn't taste artificial.“
Bubble Tea •
“Love the milk teas here! I always get one when I'm at this mall. (I think there was a different bubble tea shop here before but no matter, they're both really good.) Taro or brown sugar milk teas with boba are my usual tried & trues, but I had a lavender milk tea with lychee jelly recently and it's fantastic! The lavender is subtle and the jelly is ambrosial. Sounds like a bizarre combination but it works! They also do fruit teas and slushies. Would love it if they add rose tea in the future. There is only one size and it's large - the cup quality is nice, not the flimsy kind of flexible plastic that are used at so many bubble tea places. I can actually keep it and reuse. Service was quick and very friendly. I didn't get the name of the girl who took my order but she was lovely. The location is on the 1st floor of the hall section connecting the main mall area to Nickelodeon Universe.“

We ordered a smoothie, veggie empanada, Mediterranean salad, veggie bowl with egg and a falafel wrap. The 2 large fried eggs were cooked medium to perfection as requested. Kids love the rainbow cake and in general their bakery is super fresh and on a different level vs even your high quality Asian bakery. “When it comes to boba, some people prefer milk-based drinks and some, like me, prefer the fruitier tea-based drinks. HeyTea has quickly surpassed Debutea and become my new favorite place for a fruity afternoon pick-me-up. The space is pretty small, but the team works quickly to prepare your drinks and you can always order ahead and pick up in store. I have tried the mulberry boom tea ($6.99) and their signature cheese grape boom tea ($7.49) so far and they have tasted fantastic. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients (as they do include fruit pulp at the bottom of the drinks) and the quality of the tea brewed. I believe they were the first to introduce cheese foam to the market, which does add a sweet, slightly savory cream-cheese-like taste to the fruit teas but in my opinion, I think is unnecessary. The boom teas have a light slushie consistency as the tea and fruit is blended together before being served atop a generous scoop of fruit pulp at the bottom. The grape boom tea, in particular, also comes with slipper little jelly bites which add so much textural delight to the drink. Overall, I've had some delicious drinks so far and look forward to trying out the entire menu at HeyTea. I really hope they open another location downtown soon!“

The main attraction is the starchy Boba balls made fresh and churned daily in that sweet brown sugar sauce. Ordered the Iced Brown Sugar Boba Tea;wait time was just about ten minutes. Because it's still Winter weather- drinks with no ice cost an additional quarter. My drink tasted really good- the boba itself was still warm; gave the drink some extra warmth. The texture of the boba was bouncy and chewy- and has that great brown sugar after taste. The drink was a bit too milky- watched the clerk pour so much lactaid milk into my cup.
