“Fantastic Cantonese food. Like having old-school Mott Street in the neighborhood. Great dim sum, terrific roast meats, and a+ noodle soups.
Update: talk about obscura, they serve seremban siew pau as part of their weekend dim sum! Delicious!“

“We missed the M9 and decided to hustle over a block for rice rolls over at Sun Hing Lung Ho Fun Tofu - and we’re so glad we did. Only in Chinatown can you get so much good food for 4 people (we only have 3 but one is a teen!) for less than $20! We ordered the dried shrimp rice roll (yummy and has fresh green onion!!!), fresh shrimp rice roll, beef rice roll, pork rice roll, fresh tofu, and decided to try the jelly they had stacked on a table (it’s jello that comes with a sweet sauce to pour on top) and the grand total was less than $20!
This isn’t Cheung Fun Noodles but the variety and kindness of the nice woman at the window made this just as great! Definitely a must go for rice rolls if you’re shopping at the grocery and hangry :)“

“The food was good, portion sizes were big, and we enjoyed everything, but service was very slow and inattentive. Food came out quickly, but drinks took a while to get to us, and we were rarely checked up on. Our dinner for 5 people was about 2.5 hours long due to the slow service.“

“One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. My wife and I shared scallion pancakes, fried pork dumplings, and the Basil Beef Ho Fun. Incredible food all around, and the owner/chef is a wonderfully sweet woman. Oh and the lemonade is fantastic.“

“I came here for a friend's birthday dinner and we had an amazing time. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and I love the cozy but very Chinese decor. Our waitress was so nice, easy to talk to, and fun. The service was really quick.
We ordered hot and sour soup, peking pork, string beans, honey walnut shrimp, beef chow fun, short ribs, beef stew and radish casserole, and salted fish and eggplant casserole. Everything was delicious. My favorites were their peking pork, string bean, and casserole dishes. The honey walnut shrimp was good but the portions were okay for a group of 9. The beef chow fun was a great portion but I wish there was more flavor. Loved the short rib. They gave us complimentary watermelon at the end, as well as birthday flan for my friends and I. Had a great time and I think this is the perfect spot for some casual Chinese food with a big group of people (We got 10 dishes and the total ended up being only $240, post-tax for a group of 9! We all left STUFFED).“

“I was completely amazed by this Cantonese restaurant! I went there on Sunday with two of my classmates, and the food was absolutely delicious. The interior decoration was also very impressive—I really loved it! After finishing our meal, we went to the bar and ordered three cocktails. Their cocktails were not only beautifully presented but also incredibly tasty. What surprised me the most was that the bartender used to be a professional musician, no wonder he has such a stylish presence. Every music theory point he mentioned amazed all three of us who are music majors.
Honestly, everything about this restaurant—the decor, the food, the staff was just wow. Just like Xiaohongshu said, this is truly the pinnacle of Cantonese cuisine!“

“This is by far the best value Chinese full-menu restaurant in New York Manhattan Chinatown. The majority of the dishes still have the pre-pandemic price. We tried 3 dishes this time.
1. Salt and pepper pork chop. Just look at the picture — good portion size. Tastes so good.
2. Salty fish with chicken and eggplant. This might be too exotic for non-Asians. I can eat a bowl of rice with just 3 spoons of this. But the salty fish part might be too strong for people who mainly eat burgers and pizza.
3. Curry beef. This is not recommended — too watery. And the beef is supposed to be the beef belly part, theirs was too lean. For curry beef, West New Malaysia (on the same street) is still the best by far.
Total was $39 after tax. BTW, they accept cash only.“

“Got the brand sampler. A meal for $19.60.
Here’s what I thought of each item
Har gow / shrimp siu mai - 3/5, hard to get wrong, just didn’t love it, even with the soy sauce.
Chicken siu mai - 5/5, was my favorite
Sticky rice wrap - 1/5, mushroom and sticky rice was not my favorite
BBQ pork bun - 1/5, wasn’t my thing
Crispy shrimp roll - 4/5, pretty good“

“I was walking home from work with my partner and we weren’t even that hungry, but we haven’t had good packing duck in the city and once we saw this place busy cute with an amazing name we knew we had to go in
The service was great. They couldn’t see right away, but it was a short 10 minute wait the staff is very attentive very on top of it.
We weren’t hungry, so we just ordered only the Peking Duk however everything looked so good. I want to order so much more but trying to eat later these days.
We also ordered a side of duck soup, which was only two dollars
Everything hit all the right spots the soup and the pecking duck were absolutely perfect. I loved everything so much that will go back and I wanna go back and try other things and maybe even order more duck. I can’t express how happy I am but it’s on my overall happiness listso five stars all the way go try this place out.“

“Cha Kee is a HK Style Cha Chaan Teng located in the heart of NYC's Chinatown. They didn't have any physical menus when I went, however I assume you could ask for them if you don't have a mobile device.
The service is quick and efficient, much easier to order things if you know Cantonese, but English works fine as well.
The atmosphere is like a HK style cafe, with some big tables and smaller tables spread throughout. It would be best to come here with a party of around 3-5.
The food was great. I came during brunch, so it was focused on HK style breakfast foods. The Porkchop over fries was crispy and not too oily. The Rice Cakes in XO Sauce had both a sweetness to it that was complimented well with the peanut sauce. The only thing that was kind of eh was the Salt & Pepper Vegetables. It was a little too salty for the taste, and it ended up overwhelming the dish.
Overall a good place to visit if one of the other Cha Chaan Tengs are too crowded.“

“Came here for Thanksgiving dinner, and we ordered a wide range of dishes that came out tasting pretty good, although it felt like the food was warm instead of hot. My favorite dish was the mayo shrimp with walnuts, and it tasted very good. The fried frogs were a bit disappointing as they were about 80% flour. The staff were friendly and engaging. There weren't a lot of people when we arrived so it's definitely beet to have an early dinner here before the crowd.“

“Cheap take out
And the food taste pretty good but very salty tho.
I like their broccoli beef or broccoli chicken.
Their fried chicken wings good too.
Crispy outside, very juicy inside.
And they got lunch special special around $6-8 with a drink.
Not bad at all!“

“Our favorite restaurant in UWS. The service is great. We 💗 the food with a friendly ambiance. The restaurant is clean and goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience.“
“Came here for a late lunch along with my infant son. Left impressed with the food and the value of their lunch portions. The salt and pepper pork and fish casserole dish were my favorites here. The staff were accommodating and took time from their own lunch break to serve us. The only downside is that this place is quite far from where I live.“

“I don't live near a good Chinese restaurant anymore (in my area the Chinese is all low-end take-out places with barely any vegan options) and the vast menu at Ginger Root was a delight. We loved everything we tried, including mushroom dumplings, fried king oyster mushrooms, cold green tea noodles, beef chow fun, sauteed baby bok choi, and the chocolate peanut butter bundt cake. Wish we lived nearby so we could try everything!!!“

“THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE I' VE EVER HAD IN NEW YORK. FIRST,we are in line to wait for a table. A couple left and a 50 year old like woman waitress asked us to sit. But then, we were told by another young waitress to leave the table cuz the table should be for another couple. Ok we gave the seats to them. But I heard that old waitress said we lied to her that we were the next customer for seats. I was angry. Then we got the seats after we were called. Unfortunately we got the seats but we sat right next to that couple. That man kept noticing us and murmuring to the woman. They kept verbally abusing us with all bad words. I felt uncomfortable. I could hear that old lady waitress said sth bad about us to the young waitress. After they left, we ready to check out. The young waitress had ignored us like two times amd even she put her back facing to us and just pretended not to hear anything. I was like#%^*+-/^*+=[{{%^}*{+!!!! Finally that waitress came over with fake smile after I said I would not go there anymore. I gave them tips and they kept saying thank you and I just ignored them. My announcement: I definitely won't step in there any more in my life!!! The service is THE WORST and MEAN, that old lady waitress kept making people around misunderstood us and jut did not admit her fault. This person is not Honest and just pushed responsibility on other innocent customers which made us felt bad and sad!!! So frustrated as being same as Chinese, they behaved in this such a way!!! We order some food and they just tasted not as good as we expected. Just normal food which you can definitely get something better somewhere else!!! WILL DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR A GOOD MOOD YO EAT!!! IT WILL RUIN YOUR DAY!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDING "LIKE CAFE" with the worst service I've ever received in my life!!!!“

“The auntie at this cart pays attention to the details and does not skimp on the sauce, she used a scissor to make small openings in the noodle for the sauce to seep through to the bottom, giving a nice coating of sauce to every part of the noodles instead of letting most of the sauce pile up on top. Prices are reasonable as well!“

“This place has great tasting Cantonese style Chinese food. Every we've ordered has been perfectly seasoned with lots of flavor yet not overly salty.
