“There’s something incredibly comforting and nourishing about a good coconut chicken hotpot, and Coco Hotpot 皇椰鸡 delivers that experience beautifully. We ordered the Coconut Chicken Set for 2, which came with a half portion of fresh cage-free chicken, your choice of noodles or rice of your choice, and a vegetable platter filled with corn, winter melon, napa cabbage, lettuce, and enoki mushrooms all slowly cooked in fresh coconut water. The portion was honestly perfect for me and my boyfriend satisfying, balanced, and filling without feeling overly heavy. If you want more, they also offer plenty of add-ons to customize your hotpot further.
What makes this style of hotpot so unique is its history and philosophy. Coconut chicken hotpot originates from Hainan cuisine, where food is known for emphasizing freshness, clean flavors, and natural ingredients rather than relying heavily on oil or intense spice. Unlike traditional hotpots that focus on rich broths or chili oils, Hainan-style coconut chicken soup highlights the sweetness of fresh coconut water paired with high-quality chicken. Coconut water naturally contains subtle sweetness and minerals, which creates a lighter and healthier broth that still feels deeply flavorful and comforting.
The experience itself felt very thoughtful and authentic. The server prepares everything tableside for you, which made the meal feel even more special. They first pour the fresh coconut water into the pot and bring it to a gentle boil before adding the chicken. As the chicken cooks, they carefully skim away the scum from the top to keep the broth crystal clear and clean tasting a traditional cooking technique that helps preserve the purity and delicate flavor of the soup.
The chicken turned out incredibly tender, juicy, and naturally flavorful from simmering in the coconut broth. You can truly taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Once we added the vegetables, the soup became even better. The corn released extra sweetness into the broth, the napa cabbage softened and added depth, winter melon gave the soup a refreshing and cooling quality, while the enoki mushrooms brought a subtle earthy umami flavor. By the end, the broth develops into this naturally sweet, savory, and aromatic soup that tastes so comforting yet surprisingly light and healthy.
We chose udon noodles instead of rice, and it was absolutely the right choice. The thick chewy noodles soaked up all that flavorful coconut chicken broth beautifully. Every bite felt warm, silky, fresh, and incredibly satisfying.
They also have a sauce bar available if you want to customize your dipping sauces, though it does come at an additional charge. Personally, the broth itself was already so flavorful that it barely even needed sauce, but it’s a nice option if you enjoy mixing garlic, scallions, soy sauce, chili, or sesame-based dips with your hotpot.
This meal leaves you feeling nourished rather than overly full. Refreshing, healthy, authentic, and genuinely delicious. I also love that their menu offers many other traditional soups and coconut-based hotpots to explore, which makes me excited to come back and try more next time. Definitely a spot worth revisiting if you enjoy clean flavors, comforting soups, and high-quality ingredients.“

“Maxi’s Noodle is a Hong Kong-style noodle shop that focuses on wonton noodles, beef brisket dishes, fish balls, and comforting soup-based meals. The menu has a straightforward approach with a focus on classic Cantonese flavors, making it a good spot for a quick and satisfying bowl of noodles. The space feels casual and local, with the type of setup that works well for a simple meal rather than a long dining experience.
The biggest highlight at Maxi’s Noodle is the wonton noodle soup. The shrimp wontons are larger than the typical Hong Kong-style wontons and are packed with shrimp flavor, giving the dish a more filling feel. The noodles have a good texture with a slight chew, and the broth provides a light but comforting base. The beef options are also worth trying, especially the braised beef and brisket, which add a richer flavor to the noodles.
Beyond noodles, the menu has a variety of classic Hong Kong-style sides and add-ons. The curry fish balls and fried fish skin are popular choices that add different textures to the meal, while the Hong Kong milk tea works well as a drink pairing. There are also vegetarian options available, which gives the menu more flexibility.
The restaurant is fairly casual with limited seating, so it can feel busy during peak hours. The service is generally quick and efficient, and the portions are filling for the price. The presentation is simple, and the use of paperware even for dine-in orders makes the experience feel more like a neighborhood noodle shop than a traditional restaurant.
Overall, Maxi’s Noodle is a solid place for Hong Kong-style comfort food, especially if you are craving wonton noodles. The large shrimp wontons, chewy noodles, and affordable portions make it a worthwhile stop. It may not be the most polished dining experience, but it delivers the kind of simple and satisfying noodle dishes it specializes in.“

“Efficient Vietnamese and Chinese BBQ restaurant. Food came out lightning face and service was efficient as well. Minimal talking.
Food was good and the price was fair with good value. 3 meats with rice plus veggies was $15 plus 18% gratuity automaticly added.
If you want a quick bite of authentic Chinese and or Vietnamese eats very good place to stop for a quick bite.“

“I ordered delivery, and I have to say, I was impressed. It's funny, I’ve probably walked past this restaurant on Main Street countless times without ever really noticing it. With so many places hanging roast ducks and chickens in the window, it's hard to know which one is actually worth trying, so I usually stick to the places I already know. I'm really glad I decided to order from here because it introduced me to a great new spot.
I ordered the half roast duck, the Sichuan spicy stir-fried chicken, and the preserved egg and pork congee a long with a youtiao. As expected with delivery, both the duck and chicken needed a few minutes in the oven to crisp back up, but once they did, they were absolutely delicious. I especially loved the sauce that came with the duck, it really brought the whole dish together.
The biggest surprise of the meal was the Sichuan spicy chicken. I normally don't enjoy the numbing Sichuan peppercorn flavor, but whatever they did here was just incredibly tasty. It had plenty of flavor without the numbing sensation overpowering everything else. I can definitely see myself ordering it again.
The preserved egg and pork congee was decent. I'd seen reviews complaining that the consistency was off, but I actually thought the texture was exactly what congee should be. My only complaint was that it could have used a bit more seasoning and more preserved egg. The youtiao was also very good after a quick trip through the oven.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable meal and a restaurant I'll definitely be visiting in person. I'm already looking forward to trying the soy sauce chicken and the other roast meats, and I'll absolutely be ordering that Sichuan spicy chicken again.“

“Edit: wanted to update my review that the beef brisket with curry sauce (C2) is crazy good!
Food was fine, never tried hot pot rice before this. It’s cool to see authentic Hong Kong style food in this neighborhood. Interior was comfortable and service was good. To be honest the food was kinda forgettable but I would come back to try other dishes“

“Had such an amazing dinner at Hong Kong Gourmet 避风塘 in Flushing (144-20 Northern Blvd). The food was so good — from the perfectly steamed fish with scallions, to the crispy roast meats, salt & pepper crab, braised sea cucumber, and even the fried pigeon 😋. Every dish are so good, flavorful, fresh, and cooked just right. We ended the night with bowls of warm red bean soup, the perfect sweet finish. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you’re craving authentic Cantonese flavors. Already thinking about what I’ll try next time!“

“Just ate here for dinner and had to review it right away! Hope this place can stay open, the prices are so affordable…which is just what we need in this impending recession…onto the food…we ordered a cauliflower dish, the Taiwanese sausage clay pot rice and the premium pepper beef clay pot rice. The rice on the bottom was toasted REALLY well! Super crunchy and tasty! Flavors were great and we had leftovers to take home for tomorrow’s lunch. Great spot.“

Their roast meats are on point and they offer many popular Cantonese dishes that make me feel right at home, like congee, noodle soups, clams in black bean sauce, claypot rice, casseroles etc! “Had a great time here with some friends for lunch. We got several dim sum items and then lunch specials which we shared. The lunch specials come with a soup that is so delicious - the broth was just unbelievable. Service was fine. The value is great! We spent less than $25 per person for our little lunch feast. I would definitely go here again.“

“Their golden fried rice, lobster with sticky rice or yi-mian, Peking pork chops, steamed fish, clams with basil, and everything else is so good. I also like that it's not in central Flushing, so it's not as competitive for parking. I've never had anything here that was a disappointment. So I definitely recommend coming here if you want delicious food without having to compete for parking in central Flushing. It's also usually pretty busy, so you know that their stuff is fresh because it's such a high turnover here.“

“My sister, auntie and I have been to this place. The three of us ordered the lunch special, which was beef with broccoli, fried tilapia, and bean sprouts. The service was wonderful, and the food was wonderful. The atmosphere was that the waiter was showing a king crab for people to take pictures, and many others.“

“Dinner at 4:30. Very nice and quiet with great service. We loved all the dishes we ordered (see photo attached). Everything cooked perfectly including the scallops! I do wish the dishes a bit larger portions but they are delicious that Quality wins over Quantity. We ordered 4 dishes for 3 of us. Would come again“

“Family lunch - no wait time as we went before 11am . Compare to other dim sum restaurants in the area, the one is less crowded. dim sum are fresh made and spring rolls still warm and crispy while on the table. My family likes it as not too salty and not too much MSG in the food as I’m not feeling thirsty after the meal. Will try more dishes next time“

“Good Luck Kitchen is always busy for good reason. It's even busy on a weeknight, which is a definitely a testament to how good their food is. Obviously I also tried their Lobster Sticky Rice, which is definitely better than many other places. Even my Canto friends trek all the way here because they said the food here is super authentic and delicious. Their jellyfish and cucumber salad is delicious, steamed fish is so fresh and amazing, eggplant and chicken casserole in the clay pot is just stellar. I would definitely recommend traveling here even though it's not right next to the train.“

“We went here on a Sunday, off hours, so not prime meal time and we were able to get seated right away. The dishes are a bit pricey but it was our first time there and it was convenient so we tried a fried rice, a chow fun, soup dumplings and an appetizer. All the dishes had good flavour though they also came out one at a time so we were finished one dish, waited a while, before second and third dishes came, and then the fourth. We were not pressed for time so the relaxed atmosphere was ok.“
