“So I’ve been wanting to try the food from here for a couple years now but since it was a couple towns over I always just stuck with local Spanish spots. Well my favorite spots got shut down and I decided today was the day I’d finally order and it did not disappoint!!! I ordered the following : empanada de carne (beef), rellenos de papa (stuffed potato balls), a dessert guava and cheese empanada, the arroz con gandules (yellow rice and pigeon peas) with pernil (roasted pork) and the trifongo with pernil. This all hit the spot I was hoping it would! Also friendly staff. Whoever took my order over the phone was patient and nice. She told me it would be about an hour and food got here in less than that. Will def be ordering again!“
“I grew up in an area where there are a variety of restaurants. I expect a certain taste and experience, whether that is fair or not. I understand most Spanish BUT can't speak a lick which has led to some interesting times in my life..lol. But back to the food. I normally order the pork chops special or steak with onions. For my sides plantains black or red beans with rice. Though I prefer the black. They also make delicious juices on the spot. There is always a good portion of food served. Porkchop special comes with 4 chops. Believe it or not they have a sit down area in the back. I can't speak to prices. To me good food costs what it costs AND this IS good. But it seems more than reasonable to me. They also have food already cooked and waiting if you do not want to wait. Friendly people and move quickly with a friendly atmosphere. Spanish speaking but there are English speakers there and definitely at the cashier spot.“

“What a treat! This was our favorite typical "casado" meal while on our two week trip in Costa Rica! The herbed lemonade was fresh and delicious, and vegetarian casado plates creative and very fresh. The house homemade mango pepper sauce was delicious! The two women who ran the restaurant were so friendly and even let us take their photograph! Very clean, cute atmosphere. Highly recommend!“
“When I first came here, I didn’t know what to expect. I think the guy at the register was Dominican I asked him to put me on the top seller. He didn’t really do that. He just pointed me to the menu. I didn’t know what to expect my first time, but I tried pancakes with eggs toast because I wasn’t sure if the sausage was pork. “I Uber eat my dinner and unfortunately they forgot to put my side empanadas. I contacted the restaurant and not long after someone who actually works for the restaurant came and hand-deliver my empanadas. If it wasn’t for my son who loves empanadas I would’ve left it alone but of course I had to contact the restaurant because that’s the only thing he would eat but I have nothing negative to say about this restaurant I have been going there for years now and they go beyond.“

“I have gotten a few different empanadas since working in the neighborhood from Angie's and they are so good!! I tried the chicken stew yesterday, which I asked for with yellow rice, black beans, and plantains and it did not disappoint. It was flavorful, filling, and all cooked perfectly. The prices aren't too bad too. The only thing I would ask for is better containers- I ordered takeout and the liquid from the chicken stew almost spilled out of the container all over my outfit! Otherwise I will be getting this at least once a week!!“

“Mannys is a family owned and operated restaurant so the atmosphere is very friendly and everyone seems to know each other!! They make u feel welcomed and appreciated which is hard to find nowadays. My favorite dish is the stewed chicken w/veggie rice. The small take out box is only $7 but can easily feed 2. The large is (I believe) $9, and both come with a handful of yummy plantanos. The chicken literally melts in ur mouth and they use just the right amount of seasoning so its not too spicy for those of us who don't like spicy food!! Lunch/dinner at Mannys is always a pleasureable experience ? !!! Neighborhood isn't all that bad as other reviews mentioned, however, parking will b tricky!! Overall - ★★★★★“

“This food is delicious and true to Dominican food! It is incredibly hard to find authentic DR/PR food in Newark area. Customers service is cool, you are greeted properly. They're usually very busy near weekends. I had the pork mofongo, the chicharron with rice and beans. Everything is flavorful and seasoned well. The portions are well rounded and filling. “Gourmet Lunch is amazing! Please go in to the door on the left "Gourmet". Maria makes the best food, and it is fresh every day. The menu changes depending on what she has, so you can call ahead if you would like to know. She usually has meat, chicken, 3 types of rice, plantains, vegetables, beans, and sometimes shrimp. I'm sure the side selections may change during the seasons. The meat is so tender, and the chicken so flavorful. Maria and group are so sweet and genuine too. The goat had excellent flavor and they also had a wonderful texture to them. The rice was pretty good as well too. Really fresh tasting. The best was the Okra!!! “I love coming here! It's super eccentric and there are several unique paintings of the city (made by local artists and are for sale)! The beef stew was absolutely delicious almost like mom use to make the beef was very tender and tasty and the milkshakes is very good it could use a little more strawberry. The delivery was scheduled for 6:45pm - 7:15pm it arrived before 7pm and still warm. I will definitely will order from here again.“
“You have got to try their lobster and shrimp combo that is only available on Saturdays. It comes in a creamy sauce they make themselves. If you want to make it a whole meal, add the Salmon which also comes in a creamy sauce.... but get there about 10am, these items sell out fast!“
“A Saturday at 6:20 am, in my way to Teixeira bakery for brakefast, I saw this restaurant and stop for a mangü. It wasn't ready yet, but the yuca (casaba) with spare ribs didn't disappoint. Everything, from the food to the music to the oatmeal was on point. Prices? A precio de llevecelo (affordable). It was a clean and nice surprise.“
