“Honestly, this place ruined Chinese food for me anywhere else. The food is consistently insane. The boneless spare rib tips are hands down the best I’ve ever. The dumplings are incredible, and their Hot & Sour soup is on another level. I’ve tried countless Chinese spots over the years and nothing comes close to this place.

What really separates them is they don’t cheap out. They’re generous with the sauces, portions, and noodles — which is rare now. You can tell they actually care about the food and the customer experience instead of cutting corners like most places do. If you know good Chinese food, this spot is elite.“

“I was there at Jian Nan Syosset, Long Island. Everything went great!! But, those took the orders needed to be more educated to understand each dishes. We were a fairly larger group than standard party size. Some dished were small and some dim sum served with small quantities, like 3 or 4. Those who order for the large group, should give suggestion to order multiple orders for the same dish. So, each one in the group can have at least one.“

“I visited this place on a snowy day, and they offered hot red date water—honestly the perfect drink for the middle of winter. The food was just as impressive: the Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles and the lamb paomo were both really authentic. Warm, comforting, and absolutely worth coming back for!“

“Nana’s Noodle House is the type of place where you say “I’m just getting something light” and then leave emotionally attached to a bowl of noodles.

Everything here is ridiculously good. The broth tastes like it’s been perfected over generations, the noodles have the perfect texture, and every dish comes out looking like comfort food sent directly from the universe. First bite instantly had me rethinking every sad microwave meal I’ve ever eaten.

The portions are generous too, which means you’ll confidently ask for a to-go container and then somehow still finish the entire meal before the container arrives.

The vibe is cozy, relaxed, and welcoming, and the staff makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit. Perfect spot for cold weather, cheat days, bad days, good days, or honestly just days ending in “y.”

“I was looking for a good spot to get Chinese food, after a not so great experience elsewhere in the area. Stuck to the basics and ordered Sesame chicken, egg roll, and egg drop soup and was pleasantly suprised. From other places I'd order sesame chicken and it felt heavy with so much sauce. The chicken here was great quality wise, and everything I ordered was spot on. I want to add that the staff was very friendly. I'll definitely be coming back soon.“

“This place is busy, but worth the wait! The menu system is online and looks really clunky, but with the help of Google review photos I settled on the pan fried noodles and braised pork hock (which is highly recommended). The pork comes in a dark, rich savory sauce (they mentioned after it can also come in a garlic Sichuan that is sweeter). The noodles were fresh, with soft scramble eggs and a tang I couldn’t identify. Very good. And the pork literally fell off the bone and the skin was unctuous and filled with collagen and flavor. Would’ve loved some soy sauce at the table, but all in all staff is friendly, the space is airy, and the food is insanely good.“

My last order I mistakenly ordered "volcano" wonton instead of the regular. I didn't realize my goof until I got home and read the receipt. I called back and they told me they make me the wonton right away if I would come back to pick it up. When I returned, I was told no charge for the regular wonton. “Second time to get take out from this place. The food is delicious, reasonably priced, and they are fast! Food is usually ready for pickup in 20 minutes. It’s always hot and they give you plenty of sauces. Today they also gave us a free spicy kimchi, which was a nice surprise. We got the appetizer short ribs, crab soup dumplings, pork soup dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shrimp shui mai, large mixed shui mai, wonton soup, and scallion pancakes. It was more than enough food for two of us and we will have the leftover for dinner. I hope they have the green beans next time, as I love those!! We will definitely order from here again!“

I highly recommend giving trying this place out. “We are seriously SO impressed with Essex Chinese Kitchen. The food is amazing — everything tasted incredibly fresh, flavorful, and high quality. And on top of that, the prices are very reasonable for the portions you get.

We ordered the bubble teas (brown sugar milk tea and original milk tea), and they were SO good — perfectly balanced with that floral black tea flavor coming through. Not overly sweet, just smooth and refreshing.

I got the golden fried brown shrimp with fried rice and it was FIRE. Crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and broccoli, and they absolutely do NOT skimp on portions. The serving sizes were generous and so satisfying.

The staff were also super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.

“Super impressed by how authentic the food here is. We just moved to NJ from California and have been looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant that’s not just about chow mein or general tso. Forgot to take pictures of all dishes. The spicy dishes have very complex tastes than just spicy, and the non spicy dishes are also super fresh and flavorful. The restaurant does get busy because it’s very popular amongst Chinese people, but the staff is always attentive and makes sure that all of our needs are met. I stopped eating just to write how much I love this spot. I order almost once a week. The food never disappoints and I believe they truly deserve 5 stars. They have wonderful customer service, always pleasant when I call, speedy delivery, and quality food (and packaging) There is no other chinese food in bergen country i’ve found that I can say has all of these qualities about them. I had found one takeout place in Mendham that has done really well for years and when I work in that area I order it. On a whim I asked them how theirs was and said I would let her know.
