“I have not been to Hunan Noodle House since I was a kid, but came back to see how the noodle soup is. I got the spicy beef noodle soup and it's still very solid. Many large chunks of tender beef and tender noodles. I ordered pickup, the inside ambiance is nothing fancy, but the woman there guessed who I was and handed me my order right away. Overall still a good place for noodle soup.“

“I was at first excited when Dao Madison moved into town and even more excited when I was told they can accommodate gluten free as I have celiac. After several miss steps with mixed up orders, Dao is now cooking on all cylinders. We recently were there with friends and everyone loved it. Moreover, they have successfully accommodated my need to eat gluten free (I have celiac) several times, and have been pro active in suggesting what is easier and safer to make gluten free. My last order I mistakenly ordered "volcano" wonton instead of the regular. I didn't realize my goof until I got home and read the receipt. I called back and they told me they make me the wonton right away if I would come back to pick it up. When I returned, I was told no charge for the regular wonton. “I’ve been ordering Chinese takeout back to living in Brooklyn for 20+ years. In almost all Chinese restaurant reviews, people always complain about delivery and how many shrimp they got. Just order pick up and don’t go to pricy places if u want to avoid being disappointed. I’ve bought from Madison Wok for 15 years now and never had a late order when ordering pick up here (usually 15 mins). The food tastes exactly as my local restaurant when I was a kid, so I can’t complain. For the price, consider how little you are paying for the amount of work and manpower going into it •• esp since it’s done so fast. Dao nearby has slightly less oil and flavor for a lot more money. I wanted to like it but just poor value since your deliver or pick up order price needs to support the wait staff. No American style Chinese food is healthy for you so stop thinking you’re doing something good by paying someone extra to do less oil, msg, etc. in summary, this is an old school place that gives you the standards for the least amount of money you’ll pay in this zip code. Not something to eat everyday, but when you need your fix for this kind of stuff. I recommend the pork dumplings, fried wings, curry chicken, wonton soup and any fried rice, plus the chow fun and generals chicken. My 3 kids never complain and no one has ever been sick. Sometimes I’m not crazy about the amount of meat but remember that I’m not paying $15 or $20 for a pint here, and the low prices are supporting a skeleton crew.“

It is Americanized Chinese food, and I have been to China. Now for Amer. Chinese food, the scallion pancakes were bad, doughy not crunchy at all, a 1 star. The basil beef was pretty decent, with enough basil and flavors, although my medium spice was more mild, but that is very subjective at each restaurant. The important thing is that the base dish was flavorful, a 3.5 to 4 star. HnS soup was a 3 star. Pretty std for American Chinese HnS soup. Important question: Would I go back? If it was more local, yes, I would probably have this as my std place. But with a 20-minute drive, I can go elsewhere.“

When I visit my family, we get China Garden because they know how I miss this food. It has only gotten better and better over the years. “Mr. Chu has been my family's go to for Chinese food for years. When they had the kitchen fire and the building was shut down, we thought that would be the end of Mr. Chu. We are so happy they have come back, and we have been there since their opening a couple of times already. The food was always outstanding and still is. The atmosphere is your typical Chinese restaurant attire. With the new paint and fixtures, it makes it appealing. I had the Shimp in Lobster sauce which did not disappoint. It was by far the best I have had in years. Even at some of the top-notch Chinese restaurants, the sauce is usually watery. Mr. Chu's had that perfect consistency you expect in lobster sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed my leftovers the next day. While my family and I do miss their homemade table noodles. When asked, we were told how time consuming they are to make. Once the staff gets to know you, you feel very welcomed. They are very attentive even while the restaurant is packed with patrons. If you want exceptional Chinese food, Mr. Chu's is the place to go.“

However, I was displeased to see that we were charged for six portions of rice when we ordered four dishes totaling $90. “For once, a Chinese takeout restaurant is aptly named.

When my family and I crave Chinese takeout, this is our go-to spot. Not only do they churn out large takeout orders in good time (our orders are typically quite large, and we've never had an issue in the thirty or so times we've ordered in the past), but it's always hot, well-seasoned, and well-prepared.

Our orders typically include a 'something-and-broccoli' dish, and they always manage to cook the broccoli to perfect tenderness. I'll also add that this is the only takeout place (ever) where I've actually liked the sesame chicken. In most places, it's either too sweet, mushy, or overly sauced; here, it's dependably delicious.

We especially love the combination plates on the menu, which offers certain entrees with a choice of fried rice or lo mein and a side of egg rolls.“
