“I've mixed feelings about this place. Everything was good except the food portions. The prices we paid for the amount of food was unacceptable. I ordered Chinese noodles with meat. There were more noodles than meat. I felt like I was fishing for it. It was like a spoon size on it. My friends ordered steak. The portion was smaller than a chicken breast.
Not sure if I would recommend this place. They're are other places that serve good food with good prices and better portions“

“I came to this restaurant for the first time on Saturday, and I completely fell in love with the food. Everything was absolutely delicious. It was so good that I went back again on Sunday brought my mother-in-law with me, and now today, Tuesday, I’m going back again — that’s how amazing it is.
I usually don’t like to only write reviews when something is bad, so I had to make sure I wrote one for this place because they truly deserve it. The food, the flavor, and the overall experience were just incredible.
I recommend this place 1000%. Definitely a must-try!“

“Great food and great service. The food reminds me of home and is reasonably priced. We keep coming back for the ox tail stew, ribs, beef steak, porkchops, dumplings and the boneless chicharonnes de pollo. Most meals are served with white or yellow rice and beans or vegetables. If you want to try something different, they have the beef liver and squid ink fried rice which remind me of squid ink Paella. The combination meals are a great option to try out different dishes. The staff and owners always greet you with a warm welcome.“

“Came in for lunch after a very busy morning at work, and, if I'm being honest, with a minor hangover. Everything about this place fixed me right up. I felt like I went to lunch at my tia's. The ropa veja I got tasted exactly like the one I grew up eating. Comfort food and comforting vibes.“

“This was my first visit here. (I previously have had delivery on a couple of occasions and the food was very good.) Despite being a little early for our reservations and the place being very busy, we were seated immediately at the outdoor table I had requested in the reservations. The cocktails didn't take that long to be brought and were very good. The fried calamari appetizer (tapas) was outstanding- each piece perfectly crispy and not one piece was chewy. The sweet chili sauce worked very well with a mild heat in the middle of the tongue surrounded by sweetness. My wife enjoyed the jamon croquettas despite it lacking any sort of aioli or dipping sauce. My main dish of the deep fried Red Snapper was perfectly crisp on the outside, moist and tender inside and all around tasty. My wife enjoyed her fired cheese mofongo. Dessert of guava cheesecake and also the flan were good as well. Overall, service was good and the maitre d' walks around checking in on guests which is a nice touch. Overall, I thought the prices were very reasonable and you get nice size portions making it a good value. Just be aware that inside is fairly large and can get loud. Their windows are thick and outside you only really hear it when the door opens. Considering we live across the street and stare at the place from our windows, we'll be back, likely often.“

“A big shout out to my best latin place in Hoboken: Chango Kitchen. Traditional yummy latin dishes. Our faves are churrasco con chimichurri (skirt steakgrilled) and ropa vieja (shredded beef). My kids loved "alfajores with dulce de leche", "tres leches" and hot chocolate with when it's cold outside. Service is warm and friendly. We can visit the place multiple times and never get tired. #supportlocal“

“The food was extremely flavorful and delicious. If I am back in NJ I will come back for sure.
As a vegetarian I got served a meal that had meat in it. It was a large order so I don't fully fault them. I'm sure if I had ordered on my own they would have said something.

Vegetarian options: Not much for vegetarians and my rice ended up having meat in it. It was a large order so I don't fully blame them“

“This place is one of the best places to have a healthy lunch in West New York. I am amazed that it doesn't have any review yet. I tried fish and also lunch specials twice out three times being there, I recommend fish and cow tail. A nice girl works there having very helpful attitude toward customers (unfortunately I don't remember her name but you will find her at lunch). You might have a little bit of problem communicating in english, but all of the times that I had lunch there, they prepared exactly what I meant. A meal size was more than enough for me and I am not skinny, unhealthy or anything. Did I mention the price? it is worth every penny.“

“I was so excited to finally try Gilberto’s Cafeteria, especially because I came here to celebrate my 16th birthday! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was beautiful, warm, and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel even more special.

I ordered the Cuban sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. You could really taste the Cuban flavors, and it honestly exceeded my expectations. I recommend if this is your first time coming to defenitly try it.

What made the experience even better was the service. Everyone was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our meal. It really felt like they cared about making our visit special. Being a small family owned business you can see the dedication they put into making their costumers happy which was so wholesome.

Overall, Gilberto’s Cafeteria was such a great choice for my birthday. Between the amazing food, beautiful atmosphere, and wonderful service, it made a special day even more memorable. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu!“
