“Ok, me and my partner was looking for a café and she googled cafés in the area and this one came up
So we decided to visit this Cafe28 and we loved it right when we walked in
We fell in love with the atmosphere
The food and service we give 💯
The cuban sandwiches and empanada are awesome
The expresso and coffee are amazing
The prices is very good as well
Juan, & his wife are very attentive to the customers needs and very warm hearted
If anyone is like us and love cafés who are in the area we definitely recommend that you stop in and give Cafe 28 a visit.

“We ordered a pretty large takeout order and the food was incredible! My Dominican and Mexican parents can be really picky so we were really nervous. They loved the Moro and yucca in particular. All the meats were really good and our favorite was the pork and ropa vieja. The only thing (not well pictured) we weren’t a fan of was the tamale but one thing out of so much hardly bothered us. Stuffed avocados with shrimp ceviche will be something I always remember. Delivered with care and I’m sure we will order in the future again.“

“I had made a reservation for Thursday night, and that was probably a good idea. It was very busy when we arrived so we might have had a wait if I hadn't made a reservation.

I can see why they were so busy there; food, atmosphere and service were all excellent, easy to see why it's so popular.

We both had cubanos (I had the Classico and my husband had the Steak Sandwich), which were honestly so good. Portions are large, I had ordered a side of plantains but was under pressure to finish them after the size of the cubano!

It's loud in there, but you can still have a conversation. Funky energetic feel to the place, I really liked it, and would have no hesitation recommending.“

“This place is definitely a bang for your buck! A lot of food for the normal entree price in NYC. The place is small and kind of tucked away in the East Village. The service was quick and tables were intimate. Pretty casual joint as well. Food is good! I recommend to the restaurant for their chips though either swap them for plantain chips or homemade to tortilla chips to go with their guacamole! Everything else was fresh“

“Came here on NYE for a delicious dinner with my wife. The waiter recommended the picanha. It was delicious. We had some apps and a salad too. It was all terrific. We brought our own wine. They even gave us a dessert on the house. My wife is Dominican, so she was speak Spanish with the staff and other customers. Very inviting and friendly place. Will definitely return. “I've been craving a good Cuban sandwich and finally stopped at Montunos. The Cuban sandwich was fresh and delicious! They add garlic butter to the sandwich, which enhanced the flavor. The pernil is well-seasoned, moist, and tender. I would definitely go back just for this sandwich. My husband had fried chicken from the buffet with yuca con mojo and tostones. My only minor suggestion would be to offer a mojo with the tostones, but aside from that, the food and service were excellent.“

“This was my first visit here. (I previously have had delivery on a couple of occasions and the food was very good.) Despite being a little early for our reservations and the place being very busy, we were seated immediately at the outdoor table I had requested in the reservations. The cocktails didn't take that long to be brought and were very good. The fried calamari appetizer (tapas) was outstanding- each piece perfectly crispy and not one piece was chewy. The sweet chili sauce worked very well with a mild heat in the middle of the tongue surrounded by sweetness. My wife enjoyed the jamon croquettas despite it lacking any sort of aioli or dipping sauce. My main dish of the deep fried Red Snapper was perfectly crisp on the outside, moist and tender inside and all around tasty. My wife enjoyed her fired cheese mofongo. Dessert of guava cheesecake and also the flan were good as well. Overall, service was good and the maitre d' walks around checking in on guests which is a nice touch. Overall, I thought the prices were very reasonable and you get nice size portions making it a good value. Just be aware that inside is fairly large and can get loud. Their windows are thick and outside you only really hear it when the door opens. Considering we live across the street and stare at the place from our windows, we'll be back, likely often.“

“A big shout out to my best latin place in Hoboken: Chango Kitchen. Traditional yummy latin dishes. Our faves are churrasco con chimichurri (skirt steakgrilled) and ropa vieja (shredded beef). My kids loved "alfajores with dulce de leche", "tres leches" and hot chocolate with when it's cold outside. Service is warm and friendly. As a vegetarian I got served a meal that had meat in it. It was a large order so I don't fully fault them. I'm sure if I had ordered on my own they would have said something.

“This place is one of the best places to have a healthy lunch in West New York. I am amazed that it doesn't have any review yet. I tried fish and also lunch specials twice out three times being there, I recommend fish and cow tail. A nice girl works there having very helpful attitude toward customers (unfortunately I don't remember her name but you will find her at lunch). You might have a little bit of problem communicating in english, but all of the times that I had lunch there, they prepared exactly what I meant. A meal size was more than enough for me and I am not skinny, unhealthy or anything. Did I mention the price? it is worth every penny.“

But the Cubano? That's what you come back for. Perfectly pressed golden bread with just the right amount of crunch giving way to layers of juicy roasted pork, savory ham, melted Swiss cheese, tangy pickles, and mustard every bite was a perfect balance of salty, smoky, and bright. It wasn't just a sandwich, it was a moment. The kind that makes you close your eyes and just appreciate it. I will go out on a limb and say this is the best Cubano in New Jersey don't sleep on it.
The flavors throughout felt authentic and lovingly made, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you're getting. This is the kind of neighborhood spot that deserves to be packed every night.

“Great food and great service. The food reminds me of home and is reasonably priced. We keep coming back for the ox tail stew, ribs, beef steak, porkchops, dumplings and the boneless chicharonnes de pollo. Most meals are served with white or yellow rice and beans or vegetables. If you want to try something different, they have the beef liver and squid ink fried rice which remind me of squid ink Paella. The combination meals are a great option to try out different dishes. The staff and owners always greet you with a warm welcome.“
