“I visited Sashey's for the first time on April 23 and I must say the food I ordered (curry goat with rice and peas and a brown stew fish) was excellent! “I’m so happy I came across this Jamaican restaurant! Every dish here is freshly prepared. Not sure who the chef is here, but give that man a raise! Lol….authentic Jamaican food is definitely a big plus for this location. They give you many options aside from their famous rice and peas with a side of chicken. They also have a variety of soups on their menu. Their prices are very fair and for that reason I will definitely be back, and this time for some good ol’ oxtails! The establishment is very clean, and the staff is very polite. Only bad thing I can say is, why didn’t I come here sooner!!!! Guys keep up the great work. You’ve gained a repeat customer. I will be sure to let everyone I know about MacKariba Kitchen!“

“First off, I want to say that I never planned on stopping in. I was in the area because I was touring and Dean greeted me with a smile and a wave from the window. When I came back around and let him know I was interested in the menu options, he started tell me about his discounts and promotions. Unfortunately most of those things were meet, and I'm vegetarian so I asked if he had any vegetarian options and that I was hoping for patty and plantain.

He told me he did have callaloo+ kale and an ackee patty. He made them himself, and even gave me a complimentary drink. I chose sorrel, one of my favorite drinks growing up.

He packed them neatly and gave me some extra bag so I could carry it, and when I finally got to the house I was able to take a bite of each patty. At least I planned it to just be a bite.

When I tell you the flavors, the creaminess, the reminder of home just slap me in the tongue! I was in heaven. The sorrel was surprisingly sweet and delicious and I had to force myself to stop drinking it so fast. If I hadn't been so hungry and the food wasn't so good. I would have some pictures to show y'all, when I say I tore that food UP. I did not get paid for this, he did not ask me to write a review, but the food was just so.dang.good.

“Wow! I am from Brooklyn NY and moved to Jersey recently and this spot is the closest to Brooklyn NY Jamaican food. I've been to so many west Indian spots in East Orange and Newark and it's been horrible. Brooklyn NY has the best Jamaician food but now this spot takes the crown! ( I had the breakfast)“

“I went in for the STEWED PEAS (By far my favorite 😍) and ended up getting Jerk Chicken as well. The Stew Peas ABSOLUTELY NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!! I'm however not a fan of the Jerk Chicken. Its ok but more oven baked and the sauce is not for me. I will still be a Alice's for Life!!! STEW PEAS 5/5 & Jerk chicken 3.5/5. My personal issues with the Jerk may not matter to someone else. The bathroom was also 👌 Very very clean. THANK YOU!!! You must know CASH or Velle only no Credit cards!!! BTW I ate to fast to take pics :)“

“Came in around 8pm after worked, tired from work, didn’t want to travel for my normal place I go for my west Indian food , I find this little gem and ordered to my dietary standards, got curry goat and all veggies and food was fresh tasting and very well seasoned and tender, was a bit surprised as I don’t like trying new places , definitely will be back to try different menu options, service is great and a welcoming atmosphere.. Highly recommended“

“This place has in this town for 28 years, there is a reason why they have been around so long. The owner is this wonderful sweet lady that, she is definitely Jamaican be a those Pattie’s hit different. The oxtails are succulent and falls off the bones, the plantain’s are sweet and crispy on the edges. If you’re looking for delicious Jamaica food go here, always call before you go because she starts cooking in the morning and at times the food isn’t ready until after 12pm but it’s very much worth the wait. ????The prices are very reasonable but those Pattie’s are to die for.“

Between the oxtail and the jerk chicken, it’s really good.
The oxtail was a bit on the warmer side. I like my food hot/fresh.
Also, prices online are different than actual prices.
I ordered a large online and got a small. I was told $ 17 gets you a small, and a large is $ 21 +. Well, that to me doesn’t make sense because it only all ordering platforms as such. They explanation was “I have to speak to them,” and to “pick up a beef patty to make up the difference.” And then I was told $ 17 gets you a small, and a large is $ 21 +.
They put wine in the sorrel, and I appreciated the brother for letting me know because I don’t consume alcohol.
And when I got the beet juice instead, the bill went from $ 25 pre-tax to $ 34 after tax.
I get it, it’s a home-made kitchen quality but need to be better with how they present the prices.“

“I have been looking for Mac and Cheese in this area for DAYS!!! So many places have disappointed me but this plate actually had SOUL. A medium plate of jerk chicken, rice and collard greens cost me about $18, but you can tell by the long lines that the food is worth it. The pair are patient and friendly. “I love this place. The food is always hot and fresh. Every time I have come to this restaurant I was pleased with the food served. The part that keeps me coming back is not just the food. One morning, I got there at the time of opening. There was a woman praying and she would not open that door til she finished her prayer. Then she proceeded to wipe the place down with Florida. I am not Christian but, I respect that highly. This restaurant is also extremely clean. No matter what time I come into this restaurant, it is always clean. Always. “I’ve order for the past two days the chicken and beef soup because I’ve been sick. It is some of the best Jamaican soup I’ve had in awhile that’s really good besides home ?. I appreciate you guys reaching out for my Uber eats order letting me know that it was going to be awhile. The little things always count and go a long way. “I rarely write reviews . I’m originally from Brooklyn ny and I’m very picky for Caribbean food so I was VERY apprehensive on getting Caribbean food outside of ny . I’ve had several bad experiences .
