We keep coming back for the ox tail stew, ribs, beef steak, porkchops, dumplings and the boneless chicharonnes de pollo. Most meals are served with white or yellow rice and beans or vegetables. If you want to try something different, they have the beef liver and squid ink fried rice which remind me of squid ink Paella. The combination meals are a great option to try out different dishes. The staff and owners always greet you with a warm welcome.“

“Yeah I got that at the Dominican Restaurant, where at?? Inside the Delta Gas station, sounds sus??

It’s definitely going to raise eyebrows, but let me tell you, the place looks fabulous you walk into a standard gas station convenience store, turn right it’s a wrapped up beautiful fully running restaurant.

Food portions are MASSIVE! A platter with pernil, congris $15 , 2 people can eat from this- or at the very least you’ll have leftovers- unless you’re bougie . The Pollo Guisado was juicy and tender not rock chicken, penil was good. The beans are absolutely scrumptious. We legit got 3 platters, extra rice beans, extra maduro, guineo and a morir soñando (freshly made to order!) check didn’t go past $60 .

“The food is still delicious but the service today was definitely off. First they only made one of four orders of steak yaroa, then after waiting for another 30-45 mins we discovered that what we recieved wasn't steak but ground meat. We live in the Bronx and drove to Dyckman specifically for the steak yaroa for my birthday and was only met with disappointment. The ground meat yaroa is still very tasty but not what I went for...I will say after multiple visits back this is the first one that I've experienced this but it's not normal excusable.“

“I ordered from two good to go, which is an app that gives you discounted meals for less at the end of the night. They gave me liver which I’m not a fan of liver, but I gave it to a friend. I got potato salad. That was delicious a soup with pork in it and vegetables, rice and beans and a vegetable dish with okra and plantains. I will try out their fried chicken soon everything was packaged very good and the place looks very clean. A+

“One of the best hidden gems for authentic Dominican food. Fresh, homemade meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at very reasonable prices. I paid around $13 for a lunch special and it was excellent. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic food without the fancy atmosphere.“

“We went to Tropical Sensation to celebrate the grand opening of Athena's World Travel. We had a group of 6 people and all 6 of us agree that everything about our experience was wonderful. The atmosphere was great. Our server, Sharmaine, was amazing. The food was delicious. That was our first time at the restaurant and we plan to go back again and again. “Pico Y Pala is a great spot for authentic Dominican comfort food. I stopped by for lunch and ordered the roasted chicken with rice and beans, plus a side of tostones. Everything tasted fresh, the chicken was juicy, and the portions were more than generous. The staff was welcoming, service was quick, and the prices were very reasonable. It's the kind of neighborhood restaurant you'll want to visit again.“

However, on a Friday evening (7ish) , there was only 1 server for the entire section. It was not crowded. Empty tables in our section.We placed our orders right away with drinks and an appetizer. We waited more than 30 minutes for our drinks and appetizer. Appetizer never arrived, but our main courses (both the same) did. The fried pork chops were overly cooked - dried excessively. They were more like fried pork chunks. Difficult to eat. Knife had a difficult time cutting the meat. Margarita was subpar at best. Management needs to step up. I am a strong supporter of local restaurants, especially Puerto Rican/Latino establishments. This restaurant is an East Harlem icon. Overall: disappointed.“

“Felt like I was back in my Dominican grandmother’s kitchen. The ladies working there gave me the impression that everyone had a hand in preparing the food, and it definitely tasted homemade.

I got the pernil with rice and beans, along with some cuero, and everything was really good. The food had that comforting, home-cooked flavor that’s hard to find.
