“I moved into the area recently and have gone to this location multiple times over the last year two years. Honestly, I’m not sure what it is, not sure who is doing what, but everybody who works behind the counter are some of the friendliest people in food service I’ve ever met! They are genuinely sweet people. Seriously, when you go in there, just strike up a little light conversation. They’re so nice! A pleasure! Every single one I’ve ever encountered behind the counter! Good job!! ☺️“

“Haven't been to this location in a long time so decided to try it. There were about three different parties waiting and no one was at the front. When the gal finally did come she apologized and sat the party in front of us. Then the manager came and said there was only one server that day and the wait would be about 15-20 minutes. The party behind us left since they had small children. We had no problem with the wait and Kat was our waitress, well she was everybody's waitress. LOL. Had to give her props, she did an excellent job. Our question was why didn't the manager help out? Maybe that's not the way they do things there but we felt a little sorry for poor Kat. But she was at her sweetest and most efficient self despite waiting on all the tables so she should be commended for that.“

“Ok first off I was born n raised in East Orange so I was familiar with the area and atmosphere. Fast paced..This store is everything. I was greeted and got help ordering by the a very nice female employee. She came from behind the register. Next payment a d waiting for the food... It took a minute but such courtesy 👍🏼. It was a little busy but controlled. Everything looked clean and neat. Now the food was excellent. I ordered a NY chopped cheese with everything and a pastrami and swiss with everything on wheat toast for hubby. Sandwiches were top chef. Very filling. I was so hungry lol forgot to take a pic. “My office has been ordering lunch from here periodically over the past year, and today we placed a larger order for the entire office. Before placing it, I called the store twice to make sure we had enough food and sides for everyone.

Tommy was not only incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, but also one of the friendliest people I've ever dealt with. By the time I arrived to pick up the order, he made me feel like family!

The entire staff was wonderful, the food was delicious, and everything was ready as promised. I can't thank them enough for making our office lunch such a great experience.“

My favorite the Salmon Toast with a Cafe Horchata. Looking to not cook for lunch because life’s too short? Order a Tuna Bowl, you won’t regret it. If the day gets away from you and it’s dinner time and you have nothing to cook, make it a tapas night in. My favorites are the manchego bites, shrimp and garlic, croquettes de jamon, and calamar. Something awesome is that they have a mini market where all my favorite items are available to purchase to make at home!“

Update March 2026: Been back 3 times since bad experience. They must have had a bad day then. Each time now food is good, well prepared, and staff is friendly and efficient. Thank you 🙏 for improvements!“

“In a rapidly changing world it's refreshing when good things stay the same. In September 1990 I moved from Newark to Kearny and on that weekend I experienced the great subs and service at D&F deli and was very happy. 35 years later it's the same, maybe even better. I'm diabetic now so I can't enjoy bread as much as I would like but the staff is kind and make a sub salad for me. I go in the later afternoon and it's a virtual all star team that serves as the staff. Anthony, Justin, Brandon, Emily and Debi are unique wonderful human beings who make everyone feel like family. The person who helps make these individual all stars into a cohesive team of Avengers is their inspirational leader Zack. He's the straw that stirs the drink. Zack serves as a mainspring does in an old fashioned watch and keeps everything working perfectly. Zack is a very kind human being with a big heart, the size of a 6 foot sub. Highest possible recommendation for D&F deli. Go there, you'll be happy you did.“
