“Phenomenal experience, the food was really amazing and great portion sizes. We had the rib eye and the special which was swordfish. Everything was cooked perfectly, flavours were great, cocktails were creative and delicious, server was attentive but not over bearing. Atmosphere got pretty loud in there with a full house, but that's the only complaint!“

The beef short rib will blow you away, it could win awards.The beef tartare is the best in the city. The shrimp dumplings are next level. Amazing.The wine list is curated by one of Canada's best sommeliers. Flavors are full, and pair well with the menu.The staff is friendly, and that's a major factor in upscale dining. “Oysters are quite good, but the lemons are too limited for one dozen of oysters, and the shape of lemon is a little hard to squeeze. Scallops are amazing!Highly recommend this dish! The mix of crispy sesames, cilantro and soft sweet scallops is one of the best match I’ve ever tasted in my life!Tuna and fries is a good dish to share. The fries are not so oily and the tuna is fresh.Duck breasts are so juicy! I’ve never had such good tasting duck in Canada before.Pasta fiori is a little too sour for me.We ordered three cocktails and both of them are wonderful! Especially the one with sage!“

“Went there for lunch. I had the mushroom melt crepe, and added bacon. It was SO good. The mushrooms were delicious and the brie was melted so nicely! The crepe itself was light and fluffy as a crepe should be! Will definitely go back when I visit Halifax again!Parking: Streetside parking, free outside certain hours. However there is a paid parking lot right next to the restaurant, which had a number of spaces and was very reasonable price ($3/hr or so).“

“I’m off to Italy next month, so while on an educational in Halifax my coworker told me how this is one of her favourite spots!I definitely see why! The atmosphere was wonderful, and even though someone decided to cause a drunken scene, the staff dealt with the situation in a very calm manner.We had starters and mains but there was so much food, we were unable to try desert. Next time!My coworker was even able to customize her tortellini dish as it was a favourite of hers no longer on the menu. I actually wished I had gotten the same hers was that good!This place really has made me more excited for my trip to Italy!Highly recommend“

“I have been creeping on real fake meats for awhile and thought there's no way it can be as tasty as it looks. finally got to try it today and it was mind blowingly good. I had the Benny (small portion, which was by no means actually a small portion). wow. my son had the grilled cheese and fries and he loved it as well. amazing food, amazing service, this will definitely be a stop for our halifax trips!“

“I had not been to Gio in 4+ years. I had read the reviews lately which were really good. So, we decided to give it another try. I will certainly be back as the food and service were both very good. We had the Red Drum, Shrimp and Scallops and Cornish Hen. All were very good. The restaurant was 2/3rd's full and the layout allows you to hear your table's conversation. Gio is a great night out downtown. Would recommend.“

“This is my favorite beer bar in eastern Canada. 15 rotating taps of all NS craft, 2 extra cask taps, and 4 wine/cider taps. The food menu is small with excellent bar bites and burgers. A nice warm atmosphere rhat has stayed consistently great for years. If there is any downside, it is that the place is almost always packed and a bit noisy - but that just shows you how popular it is.“

“We love it here, the ambience, the food is excellent and authentic, staff are very friendly! This was our 3rd visit, the 1st being New Year's Eve, the 2nd in early fall, and tonite. Our only disappointment is the temperature being so cold inside. We had to eat with our coats on, December 5th, the temp was 18 in the restaurant and we just couldn't stay warm. We'd love to go back but want to be comfortable and not rush through our meal.“

“I tried this for the first time this week visiting from Ontario. Id like to make a point about the owner and staff who were very friendly and welcoming and excited for me to try their product. My honest review of this pizza, the sauce has an excellent taste, crust is nice and thin and crunchy where it counts, not overdone and baked in an old school oven which I love. One thing I will make note on is the cheese, I think it's just the brand that's being used is on the cheaper side and makes it a little rubber-like. Though I understand in these tough times for businesses and just about everyone that you have to save where you can. Does it ruin the pizza? no. Would it make it that much better with something more quality absolutely. I will definitely be going back for more in the future. Great spot, and great prices, you can't go wrong.“

The food was absolutely amazing. Wish we took pictures of the food. As a person with Celiac it was fantastic to have an amazing supper item (I ordered the Salmon Winter Hodge Podge). Other items ordered at the table were the Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese, Pepperoni pizza, Truffle Mac n Cheese and the brussel sprouts were shared for the table. Everyone enjoyed the food. The spicy Margaritas are amazing! We even got the GM to take our picture, fun crowd. Our server Bree was fantastic. Thank you Stubborn Goat. We will be back.“
