32 Best Chinese Restaurants near Lakeside

“Popped in here after a day at the shops in Bayers Lake for a late lunch/early dinner at 3:00 pm with my husband and 4 year old son. The waitress was super friendly and sweet with my kid and her son of a similar age was around as well. Good family vibe here. Not a fancy place by any means but comfortable.

We ordered Egg rolls, Cream Cheese Wontons and Dumplings for appetizers! All were EXCELLENT and very fresh and flavourful. Some of my favorite Nova Scotian style egg rolls I've ever had with the meat inside flavoured really nicely.

The the kid got chicken balls with fries (very affordable little kid's meal version). We got fried rice, Beef and Broccoli, Honey Garlic Spare Ribs and General Tsao's Chicken. Here again, everything was so fresh, flavourful and just very well made, not too greasy.

This is my new favorite Chinese place in the HRM and I will definitely be back.“

“Saturday evening (Feb 18) we randomly decided to stop by Jinloong for supper. We don't eat out much these days, but we were feeling like a treat. :) My husband had a combo Special A. It was a huge portion and delicious. I want to mention that my husband always finishes his plate. However, this meal was not only delicious but filling too. He had enough for in dining and leftovers for a take away lunch on Monday ! I ordered the Singapore Noodles, with no meat or shrimp. Our waiter was so helpful to make a lovely fresh enormous bowl of noodles with extra veggies for me. It was wonderful and I went home with 3 days of leftovers!! YAY!! This was such a great meal for "penny pinches" like us haha I'd like to say our experience at Jinloong was 5 stars, but I wish I could give an extra 5 stars for the lovely, helpful service we received from our waiter. He was a delight!! So kind, helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a Chinese restaurant don't look any further than Jinloong. The homemade sauces are absolutely worth every penny. The portions are fantastic, and the service is GREAT! We'll be back soon. I've included a photo of all our leftovers. Got the dinner for 5 and then got lo mein noodles with it because I've always liked those. Everything is actually on point. Everything is so good. Anytime we get Chinese food ... “Stopped by Canton Garden on a Tuesday evening after work with a couple friends and honestly it might become our new go-to spot. The wonton soup was exactly what I needed, rich broth and perfectly delicate wrappers, way better than I expected from a weeknight out. Our server was super attentive without being hovery, kept everything moving at a good pace so we weren't rushing but never felt forgotten either. Definitely going to drag the whole crew here on a weekend soon because I feel like we only scratched the surface of the menu.“

“I have been going to Hongs since early childhood, but most recently celebrated my post-wedding lunch there with my and my husband’s extended families. The food and the service have NEVER been anything short of perfection! We especially love the ginger beef, Hong’s chicken, stir fry duck, and Cantonese style egg noodles, but every dish we have tried has been delicious! The wonton soup we recently had was the best I have very tasted. Be sure to order lots of extras, the leftovers are mind blowing!“

“The malatang here is absolutely delicious! The broth is flavorful, spicy but not overwhelming, and very aromatic. All the ingredients are fresh and clean with plenty of variety to choose from. “Stopped in last Friday evening after wandering around the waterfront and honestly had no idea what to expect from a place I just stumbled across. The beef and broccoli was perfectly sauced, not too sweet, and the portions were way more generous than I anticipated for the price. Our server was so friendly and actually took a minute to recommend a few dishes when she noticed we were overwhelmed by the menu. If I lived in Halifax I would be here every week, and I am already planning to come back on my next trip out east.“

“I ordered delivery to my house and it came very fast and was still very warm. The prices might seem a little expensive but you get so much food its totally worth it. I ordered C15 and I had leftovers for 2 days! Some of the best Chinese food I've ever had.“

“I've been coming to 9 + Nine for a few years now and it never disappoints, so heading back last Saturday felt like visiting an old favourite. The lamb tartare was incredible as always, served beautifully and gone way too fast. Staff remembered our usual spot by the window and had water on the table before we even sat down. If you haven't been yet and you call yourself a Haligonian, you really need to fix that.“

If you enjoy being belittled, being called a liar, and spending 3 hours on a takeout fiasco LOOK no further this is the place for you. Make sure you repeat what you are ordering SEVERAL times. Make sure they repeat it back to you SEVERAL times. If you order something and receive something you did not order, you may get them to agree to bring you what you did order, HOWEVER, you will be called a liar. You will be asked prove they are at fault for the mistake or they will hold your replacement food hostage in your parking lot. You may have to snatch the food you paid for out of the driver's hands. I am not joking. I am speaking from personal experience.“

“Best Chinese Food I’ve had in a long time. Vegetables were cooked to perfection with just a little snap to them, rice was wonderful, chicken ball with not too much batter and yummy egg roll. So much I have some left over for tomorrow and at an awesome price.“

It was a little expensive but more than made up for that in quality.
