“We decided to check out this bar while staying in the area over the weekend and didn’t know what to expect but were blown away!

Amazing decor, great ambiance, it was packed and lively on a Saturday night around 10pm in contrast to the quiet streets of downtown brooklyn. We absolutely loved the Raspberry Shrub drink - the white vinegar added a little bit of a sour kick and made the cocktail one of the most memorable we’ve had. Super unique menu and fun food items. Great service and vibes. We’ll be back!“

“Ever wanted to drink in an old pirate ship but can’t make it out to Anaheim, Phoenix or San Fran? Sunken Harbor is for you. Seriously though, we finally made the pilgrimage to SH in Brooklyn, last week, and couldn’t have been happier.

We arrived just as the place was opening and realized that we might be in for a wait as there was already a line waiting to get into the hidden bar. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and they took our number and told us to expect an hour wait. Nobody batted an eye when we took up refuge in the corner (it was cold outside), and we were greeted with a text telling us our table was ready about 40 minutes after check in.

The bar is located above another fancy restaurant and holds maybe 35-40 people max. The whole place is designed like an old ship, with tons of amazing woodwork and nautical stylings.

Even though the place eschews the term tiki, you know you are in the right place when you see the Tiki Ti and Frankies Tiki Room stickers behind the bar. Speaking, of the bar, drinks were flawless. I had a traditional mai tai and it was a perfect melding of rum and sweetness, without the oppressive taste of cheap liquor. I didn’t have the food, as we were not able to stay too long, but they had an impressive menu of apps.

Sadly, there were no mugs available for sale, but they did offer some fancy zombie and Mai tai glasses, as well as pins.

I know Brooklyn is a haul, but we were able to find free street parking on a Saturday night,

“The shrimp and lamb were delicious and tasted very warm and homemade. Don’t skip on dessert, the corn cake was very good with some of the freshest ice cream I’ve had. The service was also really good, I recommend this place for a casual dinner!“

“Neighborhood gem. Great decor, homey, comfortable but well appointed. I have dined here alone and with family, both times it was a good atmosphere. GM Michael is really good and runs a good staff. The food is delicious- good for all types of diet restrictions. Fresh ingredients well prepared. Last but not least also great cocktails. Host and server were friendly and attentive. The wait was not long to get a table and the service was prompt, professional, courteous, and didn’t leave us in want of anything. All of our needs were met. You can feel the intention behind everything at Bar Americano from the weight of the glassware to the garnish on the drink to the playlist. They care about the little things that make up the whole experience. It's the kind of place you bring an out of town friend to show them what a real Brooklyn bar feels like. “We scored a table late on a Thursday night. The bar is swanky and cute, with great interior design and personal touches like the illustrations on their dishes. We arrived to low-lit restaurant/bar with vibey music and a fresh new menu.

The cocktails were great. The Apollonian was citrusy Smokey punch and the Limoncello Milk Punch felt so special.

The Stracciatella was a delightful surprise, while the Calabrese was a spicy hot wing that made me wanting more. For mains I had the Smashed Meatball Parm which DID NOT disappoint. The fries had great texture and the sandwich was so flavorful it left me wanting more. We topped it off with the delightful Cannolis that was crunched and sweet.“

“We stopped by mid afternoon Sunday before a show at Second City (nearby). The servers were quick to set up drinks and snacks. Enjoyed the big open space. Given the name (bees knees), I was surprised to learn they aren’t stocked with Barr Hill Gin from Vermont which is made from honey. Strongly recommend the manager offered Bar Hill Gin! “Came here for my anniversary dinner and was blown away by Breeze (pun intended). Easily some of, if not the best Sichuan food we’ve ever had. I got the Winter Frost #2 cocktail and I wasn’t sure what type of flavor I was expecting but it didn’t taste like what I expected in a good way! The cocktail had a mildly sweet, light but depth in flavor profile.

The ginger sauce green beans were some of the best green beans I’ve ever tasted. The sauce they used was addicting. Second favorite item was the diced chicken with chili pepper, which was super spicy but absolutely delicious. But to be honest all of the dishes were home runs! I was just here last night and I’m already daydreaming about coming back to try more dishes.

Also the service was exceptional. The restaurant was full and there were only two guys to cover the front of the house (the hostess, waiter, bartender, and bus boy). They definitely had their hand fulls but still were efficient. Since it was our anniversary dinner they ended up surprising us with a pumpkin rice cake dessert on the house which we thought was the sweetest gesture. I couldn’t have been happier since I absolutely love rice cakes 😋“

“One of my favorite bars in all of New York. Charming and cozy interior, great music (typically Japanese City Pop) and friendly staff (Ashley and Isaac are the best!) They serve one of my favorite beers here - the Suntory Premium Malt - and it's always poured to perfection. My girlfriend loves their cocktails, creative and well-balanced. I drop in at least a couple times a month and I've never had anything but a fantastic experience. I always feel at home here. Not only great for couples/dates but also to stop by for a quick pint after work. Cannot recommend this establishment highly enough.“
