“Want a great wine list (without an hour-long wait for a seat)? Come here. Want a yummy little snack with your wine? Even better! I wouldn't call Sonder a hidden gem, but perhaps an undersung highlight of Kingston in general and midtown in particular.“
“We were just passing by and this restaurant really surprised me. It’s kind of small but very nice inside. The service was great and the food was so delicious. We order the short ribs which came with spinach, it was delicious especially the spinach. Fried chicken with potato tots, Chicken Cobb salad great dishes, as well. As dessert, we ordered the butter pecan pudding. Definitely, we are coming back to this place the next time we are around.“
“This place has a classic American tavern feel. There is bar seating and table seating. There are a couple of sections (a big back section which is where our group of 11 was seated). Food was delicious and they had a couple of options - bar snacks, appetizers, salads/soup, mains. The price of main entrees run from $20-$30. Service was also great.“
“Went here last night for drinks and small bites. The vibe is perfect and decor is gorgeous. Our mixologist was perfect and fun to watch , he made us a “don’t go until you get some” and “never fully dressed” which were perfection. We ordered the squash bread as well as shrimp cocktail and both were delicious. The perfect date spot. Don’t pass this place up if you have a chance to go!“
“My family and I dined here last evening. Do yourself a solid and order the duck confit potatoes, if that’s your pleasure. We enjoyed our food, the desserts were delightful—-especially the lemon tarte. The staff was attentive and brought my sister a birthday treat. Cozy ambiance and relaxed pacing.“
“This place is foodie HEAVEN! Everything you want from a great restaurant this place has. Nice and tucked away off a main road. You immediately feel like you're dining inside of somebody's home. Gorgeous inside and outside seating. Changing menu always exquisitely thought out. The chef is always bringing new recipes/ingredients from places he travels to. This place is the best way to have a fine dining experience!“
“Smokey Rock BBQ provided a satisfactory experience during the Christmas party I attended. The atmosphere was festive and cozy, fitting for the occasion. The barbecue offerings were decent, with a variety of options to choose from. While the food was tasty, it didn't necessarily wow me. The brisket was tender and season pretty well. Service was adequate, it was family style and the staff was on top of drinks and clearing. Overall, it was a pleasant enough experience for a holiday gathering, but nothing particularly memorable.“
“When you walk in, you are greeted immediately and the atmosphere is inviting and warm. The food was absolutely stellar. I had a grilled octopus special for an app that was cooked to perfection followed by the half rack of lamb that was so juicy and delicious. The sauce was incredible..not only is the food 5 star, watching the staff work together was quite lovely. They seem to be a true family and it is a welcome sight to see. Highly recommend this establishment and kudos to the staff and kitchen.“
“What a great place! Highly worth the slightly higher prices. Really quaint location tucked away, and the atmosphere is really fun. Great selection of drinks and food, and they even have a dedicated vegetarian menu if that's preferred.Really glad I checked out this place. Owners are super nice and friendly as well. Highly recommend to any in the area!“
“The baked goods are amazing but consistently sold out of cardamom buns and cinnamon rolls….? Also no ability to heat sausage rolls and ham and cheese. The croissants are unmatched! Paris has competition. Seems like they are growing because they are delicious but be prepared to wait.“
“Ummm, wow... I LOVE hidden gem restaurants, and this place is a hidden gem. Unassuming from the outside, the dining room opens into a large room with quaintly matched tables and chairs, brightly-colored vases, and rustic art on the walls. It feels like home... and the way Donna and Joe treated us was just like family. The lunch was incredible. The aptly-named 'crack sauce' delivered, a warm and spicy compliment to perfectly fried chicken. The apple slaw cooled things down just right. This will be our spot every time works brings us back to Kingston. Cheers!Kid-friendliness: The space and the staff are both conducive to children and animals.“
“Great little spot in Kingston with delicious breakfast sandwiches and smoothies. The space is small and seating can be tight but you can order ahead. Our breakfast sandwiches were delicious. We had the country wrap and southwestern wrap. Both were flavorful and filling. I recommend this spot for a quick bite and delicious meal!“
“We had the family here for the first time last night. We started with the Calamari and the Housemade Ricotta. Both were wonderful. Then our party ordered The NY strip, the steak frites, a pecan encrusted rack of lamb (a special that night), the pappardelle bolognese, and the Burger. Everything was tasty and perfectly prepared EXACTLY as we ordered. The strip was between medium and medium rare and a high quality steak. The frites were perfect. The pappardelle was fresh made and the sauce outstanding. The lamb was served with a chimmichurri and had 6 chops that were excellent. The Burger was a sight to see. It was large and pink and great. Then we had practically one of everything for dessert which was the end to a perfect night. The service COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. We had one main server, Lily, who was professional and got everything right (Definitely ask for her) and a handful of other servers during the night that were attentive and professional. The kitchen is in full view of every table and was great to watch. The room was comfortable and the ambiance helped make the night special. Highly recommend this for a dinner you can count on as being one of the best.“
“River and Post is a small hidden secret nestled in the town of Staatsburg. With a deceptively quiet exterior, and an eclectic vibe, this place has to be on your radar. Drinks are strong. Get the short rib and artichokes. You won’t be disappointed.“
“The squash was one of the best tasting dishes I had during a weekend upstate. Don’t miss the mayana chocolate bars—sometimes in the display case and sometimes out in the grocery store aisle. I’m obsessed.Vegetarian options: Lots of delicious premade vegetarian options.Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options, including the fried chicken.“
“We had a fantastic dinner there on a Friday night. We will definitely be going back and will be taking our friends when they come to visit! There are many options for dinner in the village of Woodstock and now The Millstream is one of the best!“
“Excellent place for dinner. Was visiting town after a Bard college baseball game and decided to try the Mariners Harbor for our meal.My wife ordered creamy lobster bisque and a side Caesar salad. I ordered the pier and steer with a local Beavers bite IPA which was great. It was an incredible dinner. Server was attentive and met the right pace for checking in. Not to much not slow he nailed it. The atmosphere was warm and lively. It was a perfect evening, I can see why the reviews are so consistently top rated. Thanks for quality in environment, people, food and drinks.“
“This is really a cute place. Has great food. Great atmosphere. It is family friendly and they also have a nightlife as well. I will definitely be going back. You must try their weekend brunchParking: There is parking on both sides of the restaurantKid-friendliness: The place is kid friendly. Family friendly“
“We were out shopping and asked the salesperson where was a good place to eat and they recommend the Hoffman House. We were seated right near the fireplace to warm up from being outside. Our waitress Sam was very friendly and prompt. I had the fish and chips while Hubby had the Chicken Fettucine special. Both were excellent! The homemade cheesecake was delicious. So if you are in the area give this a try, I'm glad we did!“
“The Lunchbox is my favorite quick lunch spot in Kingston. Sean, the chef, is super kind and delightful. With a variety of healthy options on the menu, all the food I’ve tried has been delicious. Go grab your lunch at Sean’s window; you won’t regret it.“
“My son and I stopped here to grab a bite to eat before heading to the Rosendale Theatre for a movie. My son had a burger, which he said was delicious and I had the smoked brisket tacos, which were also delicious! They had some drink specials so I decided to try their Mint Margarita and it was yummy! The place is small with a large bar and several booths to sit in. The waitress was very nice, but since she was servicing the entire place by herself, the service was a little slow.“
“The owners are, truly, some of the most genuine business owners I’ve ever met. Deeply kind, so fun to be around, and to top it off, the food and atmosphere are great and chill. I love The Spy team, and I’m so glad that it’s in my town. Thank you all! ✨“
“Went with friends for a birthday celebration. Veggie burgers are house made, crispy tater tots, rib eye, and chicken sammy were all good. Live music began as we were leaving. Good time!Vegetarian options: Veggie burgers are house made!Parking: Lots of room to park.“
“We enjoy the Reservoir Inn for special occasions. Since we had our wedding reception there we try to go every year for our anniversary (and occasion birthdays). This year we had an absolutely delicious jambalaya. The wait staff. Is always excellent and we can always depend on great food!“
“Great place for a bite. I've had lunch here before. Today was just drinks and a quick bite. Green fried tomatoes done nicely. We also had wings with a sweet chili glaze. They were yummy. Sweet with a nice spice but not too hot. A cucumber mohito hit the spot. We need to come back again to try more specialties. It was so good that I forgot to take photos.“
“Yesterday, my sorority alumni met at Maggie Mae's for our fall luncheon. My seat had the perfect view of changing fall leaves. The weather here on Long Island was absolutely horrible. When I set out on my road trip upstate, I almost turned around and went home. I am so glad that I didn't! Not only did I share some funny memories and have some good laughs with my sisters of all ages, but I had an incredible lunch, followed by a dessert that almost literally blew me away! I'll post the pictures, but I'll tell you that I had a delicious chicken francaise with asparagus and the most wonderful mashed potatoes. I saved most of the potatoes for last, with a fair bit of the sauce. I only wish that I had brought a rubber scraper with me so I could get every last delicious speck of mashed potatoes. Then came my favorite part: dessert! The menu describesit as a rich chocolate Guinness cake with cream cheese frosting. Yelp reader, I am a Guinness girl. However, I could not begin to conceptualize how the two flavors would work together. Not only did they work together wonderfully, but the cream cheese frosting put an interesting sweet little twist on the flavor. I have a terrible sweet tooth. and when I find a sweet that I like, I just can't get enough of it. I wish I could have another piece of that cake right now...“
“Lady K was so accommodating to my gluten allergy. She sat down with me and told me exactly what she could prepare gluten free and it was all absolutely delicious and Lady K is the sweetest.Dietary restrictions: Lady K is able to make most menu items gluten free.“
“The boys got burgers and dogs but the veggie stack is for me. It was so so good! Sliced mushrooms, sweet potato with crispy Swiss and an avocado-bean spread. The salad was lightly dressed and also very good. The boys loved their burgers and the big bucket of fries! In a matter of fact, they kept reordering them The hubby also got the "dirty" hot dogs but he said they were nothing to write home about. All in all the place is great. The tables are a bit small but the staff is kind and friendly. I heard they're opening another Buns in Eastdale and I'm sure they will do well.“
“The culinary delights at Hickory BBQ are simply exquisite. The staff consistently goes above and beyond, radiating warmth and attentiveness. With portions more than ample and prices unbeatable, you'll inevitably depart with a satisfying surplus. It's become our cherished tradition to gather here as a circle of friends, relishing every moment without fail.“
“A wonderful bistro that can provide a variety of needs: from a sandwich and coffee on the go to a catering order for a party. The food is such high quality and service is excellent. Try the Moroccan chicken salad wrap or the vegan thai-peanut wrap. You won't regret!“
“This is a family owned old time restaurant and a cash only establishment. The food is delicious and well prepared. The locals know a great place to eat. Fresh roasted turkey and ham. Although it looks pretty dated, don't dismay you'll not be sorry once you taste the great eats!“
“Had another great family dinner tonight at the Hurley Mountain Inn! It’s been our family favorite for many years now. Always a good home cooked meal, always great service from folks who make you feel like family. The kids love the games and we joined them for a game of pool. If you are a local to Olive (like us), Hurley, Marbletown, Kingston or the surrounding area and haven’t been (in a bit or ever) or a visitor to the area, take a ride over for a great drink menu and always yummy specials. Thank you Steve and the whole crew for being a place we can count on for a good family night out!“
“Updated to add: Since writing my initial review below, just 24 hours ago, they have changed wing prices to $1/wing, 10 wings maximum, and the special only runs from 5-7. Really bummed about the change. I won't be changing the number of stars here but definitely will be visiting less frequently, as the time change and price jump doesn't work for me --------- If I could recommend one place in the Hudson valley for wings, it's the anchorage. They are SO good! Wing night is on Thursday and they are 75cents/wing with a max of 15 per person. The wings aren't small and lacking in meat like a lot of places and the flavor is incredible. This place is definitely off the beaten path (tucked inside of a boat marina) and parking is a bit small so I recommend carpooling if you can. Super relaxed and casual atmosphere. No frills or unnecessary add-ons. Just good food and a good time. Service can be a little slow, but that may be because we went on wing night. I'd say be prepared to spend a little time there. Definitely not a dine and dash. We didn't partake in the drinks but they have $5 margaritas and they looked delicious. If you love wings, you'll love this place“
