“We're hanging out at the dive bar down the road and the bartender there recommended we come here for some good drinks. And my oh my were they good. I never believed in the science of mixology or that a mixologist was a skilled tradesmen. But the old man who made our drinks must have been the Gordon Ramsey of Bartending. Your average bartender is a frycook by comparison. I had a few of their signature cocktails as well as a Manhatten and an old fashioned; my go-to drink so I've had a lot of them from a lot of different places, and never in my decades of life have I tasted such a perfectly mixed old fashioned. It was sublime and I doubt I'll taste its equal again in this lifetime unless I find myself in Kingston again and this man happens to be behind the bar once more. He also whipped up some scratch-made eggnog with alcohol and it was exquisite.”
“Want a great wine list (without an hour-long wait for a seat)? Come here. Want a yummy little snack with your wine? Even better! I wouldn't call Sonder a hidden gem, but perhaps an undersung highlight of Kingston in general and midtown in particular.”
“This is my favorite dive in Rhinebeck - all vegetarian and all delicious! This time we came at the busiest hour - lunch rush on Easter weekend, and the line was super long out its door. But the atmosphere behind the counter (where they take your order and assemble the food) remained calm, orderly and efficient. Every customer was greeted with friendly smiles, thoughtful questions and speedy service. I ordered my usual falafel pita, plus the roasted pepper and artichoke soup, while my husband tried their sabeech pita. It's a miracle how much food they skillfully stuff into a pita pouch - I would have torn it or dropped the content - making one's meal a great value. The soup was amazing, and the sandwiches were heavenly! There aren't many such fast yet gourmet eateries in Rhinebeck, and this one is a must try!”
“The food was good but they really need some more space. It is too tight to be able to go in and have a place to enjoy the excellent coffee and tea they serve with their donuts.”
“A true hidden gem. From the food to the service you will forget the essence of the atmosphere and remember not to judge a book by it's cover.Parking: Plenty of parking as you follow the parking signs.”
“This place has a classic American tavern feel. There is bar seating and table seating. There are a couple of sections (a big back section which is where our group of 11 was seated). Food was delicious and they had a couple of options - bar snacks, appetizers, salads/soup, mains. The price of main entrees run from $20-$30. Service was also great.”
“Went here last night for drinks and small bites. The vibe is perfect and decor is gorgeous. Our mixologist was perfect and fun to watch , he made us a “don’t go until you get some” and “never fully dressed” which were perfection. We ordered the squash bread as well as shrimp cocktail and both were delicious. The perfect date spot. Don’t pass this place up if you have a chance to go!”
“My family and I dined here last evening. Do yourself a solid and order the duck confit potatoes, if that’s your pleasure. We enjoyed our food, the desserts were delightful—-especially the lemon tarte. The staff was attentive and brought my sister a birthday treat. Cozy ambiance and relaxed pacing.”
“Delicious oven brick pizza. We had the Mediterranean salad and Grana Padano pizza. They were both really tasty. You could taste the good quality of the tomatoes and cheese in the pizza. The crust was thin, crisp and very tasty.”
“Excellent service, best Caribbean in the area. Taking away one star, because there have been a Couple of times where the Oxtail has been really fatty pieces. Maybe some like it that way, but not ideal for me.”
“Easy, comfy, good food. Plenty of locals there so you know it's good. Good prices. Not fancy, but a great place for pleasant, relaxed dinner.Kid-friendliness: Absolutely”
“This is not your average old school Hudson valley ice cream shop. They take care of you like they are, but they have a modern looking building and menu and great customer service. I’m on a keto diet so I got a burger and hot dog without buns. They might not look enticing from the pictures but they were great and fit right into my diet.Dietary restrictions: They accommodated my keto requests no problem. They even wrapped my burger in lettuce for me.”
“I chose to get dinner from El Rey super last minute and I was blown away by the enchiladas rojas with carnitas. Some of my favorite Mexican food I’ve ever had! The churros were also pretty good. Definitely will be going back.”
“Best bookstore in Kingston! I'm not a coffee drinker but I do love their hot chocolate. I order the same thing every time I stop by ( Small hot chocolate and a cookie) .This place is super cozy with an awesome selection of books. If you can find a seat on a less busy day your in luck! It's a chill place to meet up with friends or get some work done. Staff is always friendly and helpful. If your new to Kingston definitely check it out it's one of a kind.”
“Love my experience every single time I come to we got the juice. Atmosphere is always top notch! Sandwiches are delicious and juices are the best! Please stop in and get yourself a juice or sandwich for lunch you won't be disappointed!”
“Laid back atmosphere with good music and a good selection of brews. I went on $5 draft Monday and that is a great value. Got the Kaaterskill IPA and the red IPA (can't remember the name), sampled the Juniper Ridge and ended up leaving with a 4 pack of it. Many restaurants within walking distance as well so you don't have to go far to get a good meal after your visit”
“Everything here was delicious ! From the hot dog to the gyro to the Philly cheese steak and fries was fresh portions were perfect! The ice cream was creamy, brownie sundae was delicious,! service was quick and and friendly we will be back again for sure !”
“I should not have chosen a pasta dish - it is clearly not there forté.I'll be back to try sonething else.Parking: Prepare to spend some quality time in your car as you search for parking.”
“really good restaurant in an area where these are a few and far between. The chef balances, creativity, seasonality, and good straightforward, cooking to create a range of compelling menu items, so much so that it is hard to pick. There is a large and inviting hearth in the kitchen, so we try to choose dishes that were fire kissed. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, and the drinks list has everything you need including a lot of well selected and clean Wines.”
“We were traveling through on New Year’s Day and looking for coffee. Found this great place open. Warm inviting and what we all need in my opinion. It was a welcome treat to find books on the very topics that had been circling my mind for the last few months right there on the shelves. No judgment just information to help you stay on track and want more. Thank you for opening a place like this. And in such a beautiful spot for discovery. Happy 2024 and keep it up!”
“Got the piggy Mac with brisket, smoked bbq sampler, and fried pickles. All the food was amazing and has a great smoked flavor. Service was great and with a smile, love that they offer first responder discounts as well.”
“This place is great and I can't recommend it enough. Not only is the quality of food amazing but the staff and service have always been extremely friendly, welcoming with a non-pretentious attitude. This place is accesible for local Kingston residents, unlike some of the gentrification cafes that have popped up in recent years that cater strictly to tourists or recent, wealthy transplants. The prices here are actually fair- like it doesn't cost $12 for a breakfast sandwich with no meat on it- fair. Very clean and like I said, high quality taste in food. I always get a breakfast sandwich but their lunch options are great too. There is no better place to get a breakfast sandwich in Kingston. I love Fat Cat !”
“Being lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive Sweet Marisa’s is a gift from heaven. Marvelous choices warm environment and friendly staff. Put on your “must visit” listen when in Kingston N.Y.”
“We had the family here for the first time last night. We started with the Calamari and the Housemade Ricotta. Both were wonderful. Then our party ordered The NY strip, the steak frites, a pecan encrusted rack of lamb (a special that night), the pappardelle bolognese, and the Burger. Everything was tasty and perfectly prepared EXACTLY as we ordered. The strip was between medium and medium rare and a high quality steak. The frites were perfect. The pappardelle was fresh made and the sauce outstanding. The lamb was served with a chimmichurri and had 6 chops that were excellent. The Burger was a sight to see. It was large and pink and great. Then we had practically one of everything for dessert which was the end to a perfect night. The service COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. We had one main server, Lily, who was professional and got everything right (Definitely ask for her) and a handful of other servers during the night that were attentive and professional. The kitchen is in full view of every table and was great to watch. The room was comfortable and the ambiance helped make the night special. Highly recommend this for a dinner you can count on as being one of the best.”
“Fab food and classic elegant designed dining room! LOVE the history of the local brick indistry!! The food is always exceptional and happy hour is best in Ulster County!! Super staff with friendly smiles!”
“Food was insanely delicious but everyone (including , and I would say, notably, the clientele) was hauntingly unfriendly.Still would return for the pizza. Truly delectable. Sparkling apple cider was lovely too and the donuts were the best id had all year.Parking: Massive lotKid-friendliness: Tons of kids (and dogs!)Wheelchair accessibility: Relatively flat but uneven and sometimes mucky ground. Would not recommend for self wheeling unless supremely strong! ?”
“It was moths flipping yummy ong chat.Vegetarian options: Yum yum in my tumDietary restrictions: It was indeed a banger 10/10 must try againKid-friendliness: So bussy like I wanted to bussanuuu”
“This Cafe is a hidden gem! The decor is amazing and inviting, the food is delicious and the staff is so welcoming and attentive. The BEST latte I have had in the area.”
“Quality teas and boba. Not too sweet and fresh as the store name proclaims. I noticed the online menu isn't always the same as the in store so be wary if you're ordering to pick-up, you could be missing out on some flavors. I think I stop here any time I'm passing through Rhinebeck. I call it the boba toll ?”
“Updated to add: Since writing my initial review below, just 24 hours ago, they have changed wing prices to $1/wing, 10 wings maximum, and the special only runs from 5-7. Really bummed about the change. I won't be changing the number of stars here but definitely will be visiting less frequently, as the time change and price jump doesn't work for me --------- If I could recommend one place in the Hudson valley for wings, it's the anchorage. They are SO good! Wing night is on Thursday and they are 75cents/wing with a max of 15 per person. The wings aren't small and lacking in meat like a lot of places and the flavor is incredible. This place is definitely off the beaten path (tucked inside of a boat marina) and parking is a bit small so I recommend carpooling if you can. Super relaxed and casual atmosphere. No frills or unnecessary add-ons. Just good food and a good time. Service can be a little slow, but that may be because we went on wing night. I'd say be prepared to spend a little time there. Definitely not a dine and dash. We didn't partake in the drinks but they have $5 margaritas and they looked delicious. If you love wings, you'll love this place”
