“Very nice ambiance, but definitely not my cup of tea. I think the dishes were reasonably creative and didn’t taste bad, but I think nothing really stood out. Chao mian decent, chicken not bad. For what we ended up paying it felt a bit expensive, but not a bad spot if you’re looking for a nice date spot.“

“This is your no frills - street food stand. You literally order at the window and the auntie makes your rice rolls right in front of you. I got the fresh shrimp rice roll and it was so good! Affordable and quick - definitely a place to stop by.“

“The food was good. Cash or Zelle only. Small establishment. Tried eating at their
outside table but a Chinese guy (next door) decided it was his smoke break, was smoking and it was disgusting he had no consideration for someone else dining experience, I had to leave early.“

“Fantastic Cantonese food. Like having old-school Mott Street in the neighborhood. Great dim sum, terrific roast meats, and a+ noodle soups.
Update: talk about obscura, they serve seremban siew pau as part of their weekend dim sum! Delicious!“

“I came here for a friend's birthday dinner and we had an amazing time. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and I love the cozy but very Chinese decor. Our waitress was so nice, easy to talk to, and fun. The service was really quick.
We ordered hot and sour soup, peking pork, string beans, honey walnut shrimp, beef chow fun, short ribs, beef stew and radish casserole, and salted fish and eggplant casserole. Everything was delicious. My favorites were their peking pork, string bean, and casserole dishes. The honey walnut shrimp was good but the portions were okay for a group of 9. The beef chow fun was a great portion but I wish there was more flavor. Loved the short rib. They gave us complimentary watermelon at the end, as well as birthday flan for my friends and I. Had a great time and I think this is the perfect spot for some casual Chinese food with a big group of people (We got 10 dishes and the total ended up being only $240, post-tax for a group of 9! We all left STUFFED).“

“I often come here with friends or order to go for home party. Their King Crab is delicious. Fish is fresh too. Even the ordinary dishes like soy sauce roasted chicken and stirred fries are made well. One of the best Cantonese restaurants in Flushing, validated by my parents who travelled here from Hong Kong“

“This is by far the best value Chinese full-menu restaurant in New York Manhattan Chinatown. The majority of the dishes still have the pre-pandemic price. We tried 3 dishes this time.
1. Salt and pepper pork chop. Just look at the picture — good portion size. Tastes so good.
2. Salty fish with chicken and eggplant. This might be too exotic for non-Asians. I can eat a bowl of rice with just 3 spoons of this. But the salty fish part might be too strong for people who mainly eat burgers and pizza.
3. Curry beef. This is not recommended — too watery. And the beef is supposed to be the beef belly part, theirs was too lean. For curry beef, West New Malaysia (on the same street) is still the best by far.
Total was $39 after tax. BTW, they accept cash only.“

“I was completely amazed by this Cantonese restaurant! I went there on Sunday with two of my classmates, and the food was absolutely delicious. The interior decoration was also very impressive—I really loved it! After finishing our meal, we went to the bar and ordered three cocktails. Their cocktails were not only beautifully presented but also incredibly tasty. What surprised me the most was that the bartender used to be a professional musician, no wonder he has such a stylish presence. Every music theory point he mentioned amazed all three of us who are music majors.
Honestly, everything about this restaurant—the decor, the food, the staff was just wow. Just like Xiaohongshu said, this is truly the pinnacle of Cantonese cuisine!“

Here’s what I thought of each item
Har gow / shrimp siu mai - 3/5, hard to get wrong, just didn’t love it, even with the soy sauce.
Chicken siu mai - 5/5, was my favorite
Sticky rice wrap - 1/5, mushroom and sticky rice was not my favorite
BBQ pork bun - 1/5, wasn’t my thing
Crispy shrimp roll - 4/5, pretty good“

“Edit: wanted to update my review that the beef brisket with curry sauce (C2) is crazy good!
Food was fine, never tried hot pot rice before this. It’s cool to see authentic Hong Kong style food in this neighborhood. Interior was comfortable and service was good. To be honest the food was kinda forgettable but I would come back to try other dishes“

“Winter is about to arrive! 😍 The Coconut Chicken is my favorite, with its perfect combination of jasmine and fig fragrance. Its fresh, floral, and fruity am, and the broth is refreshingly sweet.I could finish bowl after bowl! The soup added afterward is also chicken broth!
For my family of two, we ordered a set meal for two, which was a great portion! 👌🏻 It included half a live chicken, a vegetable platter, and a choice of main course. The meat of the half-free-range chicken was firm and tender. My kids love the food so much, we will come back again.“

“I was walking home from work with my partner and we weren’t even that hungry, but we haven’t had good packing duck in the city and once we saw this place busy cute with an amazing name we knew we had to go in
The service was great. They couldn’t see right away, but it was a short 10 minute wait the staff is very attentive very on top of it.
We weren’t hungry, so we just ordered only the Peking Duk however everything looked so good. I want to order so much more but trying to eat later these days.
We also ordered a side of duck soup, which was only two dollars
Everything hit all the right spots the soup and the pecking duck were absolutely perfect. I loved everything so much that will go back and I wanna go back and try other things and maybe even order more duck. I can’t express how happy I am but it’s on my overall happiness listso five stars all the way go try this place out.“

“THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE I' VE EVER HAD IN NEW YORK. FIRST,we are in line to wait for a table. A couple left and a 50 year old like woman waitress asked us to sit. But then, we were told by another young waitress to leave the table cuz the table should be for another couple. Ok we gave the seats to them. But I heard that old waitress said we lied to her that we were the next customer for seats. I was angry. Then we got the seats after we were called. Unfortunately we got the seats but we sat right next to that couple. That man kept noticing us and murmuring to the woman. They kept verbally abusing us with all bad words. I felt uncomfortable. I could hear that old lady waitress said sth bad about us to the young waitress. After they left, we ready to check out. The young waitress had ignored us like two times amd even she put her back facing to us and just pretended not to hear anything. I was like#%^*+-/^*+=[{{%^}*{+!!!! Finally that waitress came over with fake smile after I said I would not go there anymore. I gave them tips and they kept saying thank you and I just ignored them. My announcement: I definitely won't step in there any more in my life!!! The service is THE WORST and MEAN, that old lady waitress kept making people around misunderstood us and jut did not admit her fault. This person is not Honest and just pushed responsibility on other innocent customers which made us felt bad and sad!!! So frustrated as being same as Chinese, they behaved in this such a way!!! We order some food and they just tasted not as good as we expected. Just normal food which you can definitely get something better somewhere else!!! WILL DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR A GOOD MOOD YO EAT!!! IT WILL RUIN YOUR DAY!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDING "LIKE CAFE" with the worst service I've ever received in my life!!!!“

“Came here for Thanksgiving dinner, and we ordered a wide range of dishes that came out tasting pretty good, although it felt like the food was warm instead of hot. My favorite dish was the mayo shrimp with walnuts, and it tasted very good. The fried frogs were a bit disappointing as they were about 80% flour. The staff were friendly and engaging. There weren't a lot of people when we arrived so it's definitely beet to have an early dinner here before the crowd.“
“Our favorite restaurant in UWS. The service is great. We 💗 the food with a friendly ambiance. The restaurant is clean and goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience.“

“Canton Manor 新東湖 is one of those Chinatown dim sum houses that really reminds you why this tradition has lasted for centuries. Dim sum began in Guangdong teahouses along the Silk Road, where small snacks were paired with tea for travelers. Over time, it evolved into the weekend ritual we know today families gathering around steaming baskets, sharing bite-sized plates that show off both skill and comfort.
The har gow here set the tone: the wrappers were thin and translucent yet sturdy enough to hold plump, juicy shrimp. Biting into them gave that satisfying snap that only comes from fresh seafood. The siu mai, a benchmark of any dim sum restaurant, were equally well done meaty pork with shrimp folded in, juicy without being greasy, with a clean umami that lingers. The shrimp rice noodle rolls were silky and soft, the rice sheets gliding across the palate, wrapping shrimp that still had bounce. A drizzle of sweet soy tied everything together. This dish has its roots in Guangdong street food, but in the dim sum setting it becomes something elegant and comforting.
The savory small plates brought balance and heartiness. The steamed pork spare ribs were simple but flavorful, tender pieces that showcased the pork itself rather than hiding behind sauce. Braised chicken feet ,a true test of dim sum technique, were glossy and tender, the skin and tendons melting into a sticky, flavorful bite. 黑椒牛仔骨 stood out for their boldness the meat was tender yet still had chew, coated in a peppery sauce that carried both spice and fragrance. It’s a dish that reflects Hong Kong’s adaptation of Western seasonings, with black pepper becoming a Cantonese kitchen staple in the 20th century.
The Century egg and pork congee was one of the meal’s comforting highlights. The porridge had been simmered down until silky, almost creamy, with the earthy depth of preserved egg balanced by the light savoriness of lean pork. Cantonese congee has always been prized for its soothing qualities, often served to the young and elderly alike, and this version captured exactly that warmth. 牛杂 beef offal stew brought another layer of tradition: tripe, tendon, and brisket cooked slowly in a seasoned broth until tender. This dish traces back to Hong Kong’s dai pai dong food stalls, where nothing was wasted and every part of the animal was transformed into something flavorful. Here, it carried spice, richness, and texture in every bite.
For sweets, the Pineapple bun was nostalgic fluffy bread topped with a golden, crackly crust that gave way to soft, warm dough inside. Despite the name, there’s no pineapple; the crisscross crust just resembles the fruit’s pattern. This iconic Hong Kong bakery item became popular in the 20th century and remains a staple for a reason. The 椰汁糕 was the perfect closer refreshing and delicate, with the fragrance of coconut milk and just enough sweetness to cleanse the palate.
What makes Canton Manor special isn’t just the range of dishes, but the consistency: nothing felt greasy, rushed, or carelessly put together. Each plate highlighted its own textures and flavors while still fitting into the bigger rhythm of a dim sum meal tea, conversation, sharing, and balance. In a neighborhood filled with options, Canton Manor manages to stand out by honouring both the history of dim sum and the taste expectations of today’s diners.“

“好吃又良心! 生意一般,但是感觉老板很大方。I have a sense of obligation. save this restaurant! Ordered Uber Eats. BOGO promotion currently. I didn’t order drinks. But owner gave me 2 lemon tea drinks. Well packaged. Pleasant pick up experience. Look at their prices. If you order by phone, the least expensive rice is only $9. How is that possible in today’s economy November 2025? For owner’s generosity alone, I’m giving it 5 star.“

“We tried some other things here, but don’t have pictures for them. Butter with condensed milk toast was good. Fried bun with condensed milk was good. Milk teas were good. Beef chow fun was very tasty and silky. Beef chow mein was very good also. Usually don’t like chow mein too much, but their noodles were a bit on the softer side and I prefer that over the super crispy crunchy version. Didn’t like the pork chop onions on rice. It was bland. Their wings were okay. Overall, this place was way better than I expected, so I give it a solid 4.“

“I don't live near a good Chinese restaurant anymore (in my area the Chinese is all low-end take-out places with barely any vegan options) and the vast menu at Ginger Root was a delight. We loved everything we tried, including mushroom dumplings, fried king oyster mushrooms, cold green tea noodles, beef chow fun, sauteed baby bok choi, and the chocolate peanut butter bundt cake. Wish we lived nearby so we could try everything!!!“
“They don't have a tank for seafood in house but can buy fresh on from market down the street, so it's very fresh and market price. We had twin lobster, the large ones for about $60. And a fresh stream fish 盲曹 (2lb) for $50. Other dishes are pretty good in portion and taste.“

“If you know what’s authentic, come, the duck and geese is exactly how they made it in Guangdong. It is actually shocking how they can get it so right. If you don’t know what’s up, keep your distance and stop leaving bad review because your tastes lack variety or they did not give you a fine dinning experience. This is a 10 dollar meat over rice place ffs“

“Emperor Seafood never disappoints, I have been here many, many times over the years. Each time when I am here, the service, food and ambiance is always great. I love their dim sums here. Cooked to order and no trolleys circling the entire restaurant. Service is fast and friendly. Music is played just right and not too overwhelming. Prepare to wait during the weekends as this place gets filled up pretty fast. Wait time ranges from 30-45 minutes for a table of 4, faster if you do not mind sharing tables. Menus are simple and quality of food served during dim sum and dinner is always exceptional.
For dinner, order the filet mignon with assorted vegetables, the popular lobster with ginger and scallions and the salt, snow pea shoots sautéed with garlic and the whole crispy garlic chicken. These are my personal favorites. They also offer private rooms for larger parties but there is a minimum that one has to spend. I had many parties in these well appointed private rooms. Parking is easy and if you spend more than $100 parking get validated in their designated parking garage.“

“We ordered the preserved meat and yellow eel clay pot rice, two meats platter (chasiu and duck), beef rice noodles, and a vegetable dish. We ordered way too much for 5 people, so we had enough leftovers for the next day.
You have to mix the rice all the way including the crunching part that is stuck on the pot for it to taste good. You can add soy sauce for add flavor. We loved the eel one, which came with flavorful mushrooms. The preserved meat was on a little lacking in flavor. Everything was overall very yummy and we’d come here again for the yellow eel clay pot rice.“
