“I hated Lima beans, until I ate them at Contento. In fact, everything I ate there was perfection. My husband and I sat at the bar, which is exactly where I’d sit again. It’s cozy, comfortable and you can see some of the kitchen action as well as chat with fellow diners. The chef came out and helped us pick out a great bottle of wine. I use a wheelchair, which is what first attracted me to going to Contento. I appreciate feeling included. But I have recommended the place to friends and the next time I’m in New York I look forward to going back.“
“Te amo Mission Ceviche! My Boyfriend took me here for my birthday. The entire staff treated me like a King! The customer service at this restaurant is absolutely incredible! The food is a gastronomical fantasy. Incredible flavors, fresh ingredients, truly mouth-watering meals. My Boyfriend is from Peru and he says Mission Ceviche is like coming home for him. He is practically obsessed with the two ceviche dishes (Mixto y Classico). For me it is the short ribs. O-M-G I don’t think I have EVER had a meal so memorable and incredibly delicious. To be honest my words do not do the deliciousness of this meal justice. Simply put...it is oh so good. The short rib is cooked to perfection and is so tender you can eat it with a spoon. The accompanying sides are the perfect compliment. The sauce that’s used...I hope they bottle it because I would buy vats of it! The rice with choclo is sublime. The tres leches rich, creamy and absolutely decadent. The food is amazing. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. The music is fiyah. The location is super convenient—a half a block to the subway and Crosstown bus. What really sets Mission Ceviche apart is the incredible Maitre’d Carlos. He treats all patrons the same...from babies in strollers to celebrities. He is so incredibly kind, humble, gracious, charming, intelligent, professional and inspiring. He is passionate and proud. It is awesome to see him keep the atmosphere ebullient and festive and the food flowing. He manages it all so effortlessly. I think it is because he honestly loves his chosen career and when you’re happy and you know it “work” is pure joy. That joy Carlos gives it to all of the Mission Ceviche patrons. This was not me and my Boyfriend’s first time dining at Mission Ceviche. We are now greeted by our first names when we arrive. Carlos is there and he has the biggest smile and we know that we are in great hands and know we will eat well. Every dining experience at Mission Ceviche is amazing! Go to this restaurant...make the reservation...you will not be disappointed...trust me! Bravo Carlos and the entire Mission Ceviche staff.“
“Excellent experience overall. We had some expectations for this restaurant and we were blown away with how amazing was the food.We are food lovers and travel al over the world booking the best reviewed restaurants. We were amazed with the dishes and the desert. The dishes that stood out the most for us were the scallop ceviche , the Patarashca whole fish and the two deserts we had were the lucuma flan and the Chirimoya .AMAZING!!!Will be visiting again very soon!“
“Excellent place for a family or couple reunion, good atmosphere, good music ? the best thing is the very good attention, very attentive to every detail until the opportunity to meet the chef personally, in particular I usually detail the dishes but on this occasion he was up to the task one of the best ? to go again, the drinks excellent at their point, good teacher“
“Incredible dinner here with really creative plates blending Japanese and Peruvian dishes & ingredients. I loved that each dish was unique and unlike anything I’ve had elsewhere, yet nothing was too out there and the flavors were familiar/comforting. Enjoyed the corn croquettes, the risotto with shrimp & uni and the pork katsu with pesto udon“
“On a bustling Saturday evening, we did an 8PM walk-in at Jora, opting to wait thirty minutes for a table over immediate seating at the bar. We commenced with three dishes: the Grilled Octopus, placed atop a Yukon mille-feuille; the Jalea, a crispy assortment of fish, shrimp, and squid, paired with yucca and salsa criolla; and the Lomo Saltado, sirloin stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, and French fries. The addition of corn to two of the dishes provided a textural intrigue, with glutinous kernels complementing the octopus and semi-popped kernels the Jalea. The Lomo Saltado was just shy of too salty, prompting us to sip water liberally. Our meal concluded with the Passion Fruit Cheesecake, whose creamy tang atop a graham cracker crust helped balanced out the savory dishes. The service we received was cordial, the pricing of each dish was fair, and the appetizers and entree arrived in unison — ideal for larger dining groups. In summary, Jora offers an engaging dining experience with a palette-pleasing array of options, suitable for those who enjoy sharing a meal.“
“We order one appetizer and 3 main dishes for 2 adults and 2 kids. The tamal limeño appetizer was very good to start the night. It was very tasteful. The main dishes, the ceviche mixto was excelent! Very refreshing, the ceviche had octopus, shrimp, calamari and fish. The second dish, The camarones cuzco in yellow aji sauce was spectacular too. The third dish piqueo pacifico, was a set of 4 ceviches was also very refreshing and tasteful.“
“On Sunday, March 17, I went with the family for the first time to celebrate my son Adrian's birthday, we had a great time, the food was great. I have worked for a long time at the Hirohisa Restaurant in Soho, which has had a Michelin star since 2017 and I found the Peruvian food excellent. (I am Peruvian). I recommend it. The lomo saltado is really filet mignon and cooked to perfection, delicious male corvina, spicy shrimp, chaufa rice with chicken and not to mention the pineapple pisco sour the best, etc.“
“What a great hidden gem! The food is great and extremely fresh seafood! The ceviche mixto was flavorful and great portion to share. The highlight of the meal was the dessert, homemade ice cream that was creamy and unique! Will definitely go back!!“
“Food amazing, staff amazing, hospitality amazing. Everything was very fresh, seafood cooked perfectly and the corn nuts are fun. Came with a large party and Tito took care of us, if you’re on the fence about dining here, you shouldn’t be.“
“When I found out this family business is co-owned by a fellow Queens College Alum, I had to come!!! It's so inviting and the hostess (sister) was more than accommodating. We were seated quickly and we were able to see the menu both print and via QR Code. We (my husband and I) loved the drink we had as well as the Aji Galina and Arroz Chaufa con Pollo. Extra sauces and a small corn based appetizer was given right away as well. I also appreciated the clean bathroom, which has a urinal and normal toilet, also ADA/wheelchair friendly. The music was excellent too. The fact that this is also family friendly is the ultimate selling point. There's something on the menu for everyone. I will definitely come back with my in laws! This is the freshest, best Peruvian in NYS!!! I WISH YOU ALL THE SUCCESS AND DECADES IN BUSINESS!“
“Glad we found this place while searching for a lunch spot in Harlem. The service was super warm and friendly (¡gracias, Pablo!), and we can highly recommend the Lomo Saltado and the Arroz Chaufa Mariscos, which were both delicious. I've already bookmarked this place and will definitely be back to try some of the other things on the menu.“
“I had such a great time at Dora's Thursday happy hour. Great place to reunite with friends. Food was good, drinks well priced and the owner was a delight. My steak came out a little less red than I like but the flavor was delicious. One of my friends requested to add chicken to her pasta and the owner was happy to accommodate and my friend loved her dish.Vegetarian options: No meat Pasta, salad and vegetable dishes were on the menu .Dietary restrictions: There was enough of a variety for all to enjoy.Wheelchair accessibility: There was a gentleman in a wheelchair that appeared to be able to get around easily. Spacious dining area.“
“Great music, great atmosphere. We had a good service, they forgot one of us and the others had to wait for us to eat all at the same time… Food was delicious, drinks too. I feel it was maybe a little bit pricey, specially on the drinks side but we had a great moment and we could definitely go back anytime.“
“The food was stellar and the ambiance (including the band) was amazing. The hard stop for us was the service. Our server didn't know how to consolidate tables, and and barely checked on us. The wait for cocktails was around 25 min for one drink. Unacceptable, given our server stood around talking to friends/coworkers, and the person who appeared to be the manager was walking around on his phone a lot. I would go back for the food and the vibe, but the service isn't it.“
“Well, the place is very nice, the service in general is very good, I recommend it 100%, it covers all expectations, greetings to inca paisa!!!! Katherine, Valentina and Sthephany very good serversParking: Very good, very reliableKid-friendliness: Of course the atmosphere is familiar“
“Came by for an early dinner on a Saturday night. This place is a little outside the busy main Astoria area. The outside looks very minimalistic you wouldn't know it's Peruvian just passing by. From the drinks to the entree, everything was tasty and portioned well although slightly on the pricier side. One cocktail, fruit drink, arepa small dish, ceviche mixto, and entree came out to $100 after tip.“
“Tasty Peruvian food in the neighborhood! Everything was seasoned well and balanced by the mild sweetness of chiacha morada we had as well. Really enjoyed the pasta, it was creamy but not heavy. And always a fan of Peruvian style chicken. Portions were also generous. Loved trying the lucuma ice cream and picarones for the first time too, ended up eating them together and the fresh warm picarones paired well with the cold ice cream. Flavors were great. Need to swing by for a weekday lunch at some point! Service was also super fast and helpful.“
“This place surprised me brunch is a must here great music live dj great vibes awesome staff good drinks well priced brunch menu and drinks overall this place is solidVegetarian options: Definitely will be happy hereDietary restrictions: Yes they walk you through it all again manager and staff amazingParking: Parking is kind of hard but not really depending on the time for brunch street parking is definitely available in the area and Sundays meters are freeKid-friendliness: Yes and again the staff and management will make them and you feel at homeWheelchair accessibility: Yeah it’s wheelchair accessible and the staff is amazing“
“Last night I had the ABSOLUTE BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE at this restaurant! Every bite was pure bliss! I would love to give specific recommendations, but I don't think you can go wrong here! By far and away, this is now my favorite restaurant in all of New York!“
“This place is cute. It's small and cozy but plays really great music not only Spanish but English too Ans it's not even that annoyingly loud. The staff top tier, they're great and amazing they make sure you're okay within a reasonable time and they're like annoying about it. I only had appetizers and drinks and both was really good I can only imagine their food is as good as the apps. Overall experience was great I love it. It's a great place to go with friends to catch up or even with a partner to have dinner.“
“This place is the best spot in uptown great food, beautiful eating area with an excellent service . I love this place since they open in our neighborhood is a family owned business that will exceed anyone's expectations if you can't afford traveling to Peru like me this restaurant is the closest thing to it. I highly recommend this place unbelievable Peruvian cuisine ceviche and lomo salteado taco Tuesday is a most . Affordable $$“
“We were waiting on King Kog to fix my bike, so we decided on Peruvian. This place seemed a bit pricey to me but whatever. I gotta say, the food was DELICIOUS and the portions were YUGE. definitely worth the money. The service was prompt and friendly and the atmosphere was quaint. I gotta give 5 stars here. I’ll be back.“
“Great authentic Peruvian food , the best ceviche that isn’t ridiculously overpriced in the city ! As a person who comes from South American background and grew up in Queens going to many Peruvian restaurants the flavor is definitely worth the trip to Essex Market in LES if you want an authentic ceviche mixto in Manhattan.“
“The food is AMAZING! Authentic Peruvian cuisine, I was not let down. Everything is so flavorful, drink were super good, and they even had traditional non-alcoholic Peruvian drinks. Nice to know there is a local spot we can go to thats top notch instead of going into Queens for Peruvian food. Highly recommend!“
“This is an amazing and underrated spot. Not only are the Ceviches authentically recreated, the star of the show, the Molkajete is one of the best Mexican grill showcases around. The Peruvian dishes like the Lomo saltado maybe be a bit untraditional in presentation but the flavor is to die for. I highly recommend you come, try the amazing food, and say hello to the wonderful owners.“
“Absolutely fantastic, I've been meaning to come here for a year and finally did. Service was excellent, food was great, extremely quick, and very reasonably priced for LICTheir HH drink menu looked good too although I didn't partake“
“Absolutely delicious and stunning restaurant! Some of the best drinks I’ve had so far and I love that they all give you a taste of Peru with authentic and unique Peruvian fruits and flavors. I had the ceviche de pescado, chaufa de mariscos and arroz con mariscos. Super fresh and flavorful. The drinks and food complemented well and the dessert was the cherry on the cake! Definitely recommend as a must try if you’re in the area. Worth your time and money.“
“Absolutely superb Peruvian food served by very nice folk. We had a trio of ceviche, a huge cauldron of chicken noodle soup (we took home a quart of leftovers. But the best was potatoes w/three cremas. The yellow was good, the red had a touch of spice, and the green was wonderfully earthy. We want to return with a group to explore more of the menu. The service was warm and caring.“
“This is my very first time having Peruvian food, and I must say that I was absolutely blown away by their robust flavor and quality of food. I was especially impressed by their chicken saltado which was served with the best of best fries I've ever had. Will definitely visit again for sure. The taste and the flavor of the rice still lingers on my tastebuds.“
“small space inside + friendly + quick service. $60 matador combo was perfect for 4 - included whole rotisserie chicken + avocado salad + tostones + fries and salchicha/salchipapas + plate of red beans and yellow rice. ask for the green + spicy/kick salsa.“
“Came to this place today, Sunday, for early lunch with the family. Since we were the only customers at that moment, we knew that we would get our orders pretty fast and we were all hungry. The place looked great and food even better! Anticuchos and Jalea is what we ordered appetizers and the specials of the day, Baked Fish and Arroz de Mariscos were really delicious. The classic Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken could not be forgotten which was just as good. Definitely recommend this place. Wished I had my phone to show how great all our orders looked. We’ll be back whenever we are in the area for sure!!“
“Outstanding. This establishment is a perfect embodiment of a simple place that serves incredible food. Forget about the fancy chairs, seats and decor...none of that here (the wall tapestry is actually amazing...though)... It's food packed with intelligent flavor, genuine spirit and love. Nothing more, nothing less. I'd go here any day over the millions of 'fancy' restaurants that look great, but have absolutely no soul, are generously rude to customers and serve insipid food. Do yourself a favor and take the train, car, whatever you need to do...to get here!“
“The food is excellent, the atmosphere is great, the music is just enough to enjoy the dishes of Peruvian food, which in my opinion is one of the best. The waitress Claudia was very attentive, very friendly 10/10 highly recommended, thank you Lima for giving us this incredible experience.“
“Cute spot. I went for happy hour on a Monday. Everything my friends and I had was delicious! We had the Guac and chips, Arepita Sliders, Chicken Taquitos, the Salmon entree, and the chicken entree. The drinks were great too. I had a strawberry and mango non-alcoholic mojito. My friends the coconut, passion fruit, and blackberry mojitos. They said theirs were nice and strong too. My friend also ordered the tres le he cake and said that it was delicious! I would def go back!“
“Never had Chinese Peruvian food before so was very intrigued. Came on a weekday night and was surprised that the store was packed. Was able to get seated quickly and they allowed us (2 people) to sit at a 4 person table which was very nice of them. - Complimentary Bread - I don't know what they put in this bread, but I was a huge fan. The bread was so soft and hot... and with the butter, it was just perfection. I also loved the crust as it was very flaky and crisp. I could just eat this as a whole meal and be happy. - Lomo Saltado (Beef) - I was not a big fan of the fried rice on the side but this was one of the best Lomo Saltado I've had in the city. The tomatoes and onions were cooked to perfection as they were very soft and packed with flavor. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The beef was also very tender but crispy at the same time. - Chinese Style Squid Fried Rice - Not a big fan. Feel like there was a strong oily after-taste like the fried rice in the Lomo Saltado. I did appreciate how many ingredients there were, but it didn't feel very appetizing. Overall, would just recommend the bread and the Lomo Saltado if you do come here. Also, I have to say that it's refreshing to watch all the servers play around, it made me very happy to know that they all are great friends with one another.“
“Fantastic food and service! I originally tried to order on Uber Eats and the restaurant website online for delivery, but neither would allow me. I finally called the restaurant who graciously offered to deliver to Astoria without hesitation, on a snowstorm day (of course I added tip to my order, that was incredibly kind). The food arrived with a very kind gentleman, and it was absolutely delicious! Very happy with this place - will definitely be back :) ..thank you so much!“
“I’ve been coming to El Sombrero for years. The food has been very consistent and my Mexican and Peruvian friends love this place. I have come here as well as taking it to go. We don’t even live nearby, but we like it so much, that we drive half an hour to eat here. I’ve brought friends from all over the world to eat this ceviche. That said, tonight was a bit different. We were served by Miriam (according to the receipt). She was not only rude, she would roll her eyes every time we asked for something.I usually run into the sweet lady who’s always there who seems to be a manager or one of the owners, not sure. But I would have loved it if she was there so she could have a conversation with this girl.I’m definitely gonna be coming back, but I’m gonna wish that that girl is not our server next time“
“Amazing food :) some of the best, if not the best, Peruvian food in nyc ❤️ tastes like some of the good stuff you can find in Lima. The wait staff is so friendly and lovely. I took my friend here for the first time and he fell in love with the cuisine. You won’t be disappointed if you come here :)))) xo “
“I believe Flor de Mayo is a unique NYC chain mainstay. I love that they have multiple locations but I usually go to the same one lol. Last time I was here it was right before I was pregnant with my daughter. The staff is always on point and it’s always packed. Locals love the drinks and Chinese-Peruvian fusion. This place is my version of an upper echelon Chinese Food Restaurant!! There use to be something similar on Fordham Rd. MOVING ON!!I ventured out this time and ordered food I normally wouldn’t. I got the cilantro rice and wasn’t really satisfied. I thought the rice was a little mushy and not the flavor profile I was looking for. The chickpea guisado could’ve been better. It really just looked like they threw a slurry in a pan with tomato sauce and chickpeas. I will not be ordering either of those again. I will stick to the fried rice which is always exceptional! My grandmother accompanied us on this trip and enjoyed herself so I appreciated that. We just learned she has GERD so having something she enjoyed made our day. With love.“
“I order a whole chicken a small rice to go but stayed for happy hour the drinks was very good ??. The bartender/ waiter maythe was very friendly and super professional ?. She recommended the pulpo as an appetizer super delicious very good “
“I chose this shop after coming out of B&H with my purchases. I wanted something different than a subway sandwich. Food was great but the portions were small. I'm used to larger chicken. I guess it would be good for someone on a diet.“
“The good is still very good I haven't been here in 6 years, small little. Ozzy restaurant service is good the staff friendly the ambiance it's nice family friendly, nice to bring date , they do have a variety of good so read the menu well food is delicious. This place has been around for over 20 year, last good restaurant in the area“
“We were super delighted coming to Bistro Punta Sal. The service, vibes and food was excellent. We ordered the ceviche mixto, rellenos, and fettuccine with steak. This restaurant feels like a local gem & the chef is on point w flavors. Cute date night spot too (:“
“I find myself coming more and more to this hidden gem. This place stands out from its counterparts due to its fresh food and fantastic service. You might have a slight longer wait than in other places but!! the food is done to order and not sitting under a heating lamp.Adding this place to my weekly rotation for sure. I’ve ordered delivery from Warique at least five times now and, if done/ordered within a reasonable distance , it gets delivered quite fast.I’m looking forward to trying to the rest of the menu.“
“Gone here about more than a handful of times, love it each time. Food feels fresh and at great quality, never regret eating anything here especially if it has steak in it. Always recommend my friends and family to come here. I truly appreciate the variety of dishes they have on the menu. Favorite restaurant!“
“Wow, I enjoyed this menu. Great Latin dishes like classic carne asada, ceviche, empanadas, cheese bread, arroz con camarones, lots of seafood, yummy yucca fries, a variety of home made fish stews and soups. Daily lunch specials make this place a great value. Table service or bar seating available. Every server was friendly and hospitable. Totally will return, especially for the lomo saltado de carne y pollo. And the tres leches dessert!“
“Very good food served out of a taco truck. They have been on 57th st and 8th ave as of late. The food is solid. The tortas are the best thing on the menu. The salsas are good. The prices fair. The chichi morra drink was just OK though. Sort of like the Mexican hibiscus drink but not really worth $3. The guys are friendly and they accept credit cards. Usually a small line during lunch. But it moves fast.“
“Very cute and cozy restaurant.Food was mixed.Steak and eggs are just wonderful when avocado toast is a big disappointment.Avocado was not fresh, although tuna tartar tasty and mouth watering.Grilled octopus-can't miss.Perfect reasoned and cooked to perfection with just the right amount of sauce.Saviche was very nice as well.Unlimited mimosas were very limited since our server was never around“
“Great food, however, it took 25 mins to get done. I ordered a chaufa and a chicha morada and the portion size was big but it just took a little while before it got to me. Service was okay. Overall I would give it another shot maybe it was just an off day and the food is pretty good. It is a little pricey tho.“
