“After a long walk on the Upper West Side, I came across this spot. It was very nice, with a great selection of beers to help beat the heat. I really enjoyed it and will be coming back to get one of those big cans to go. The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. The arcade machine was a total plus. I love those things. And the art in the bathroom was also very interesting.“

Got there on a Monday @ 5p when they opened figuring we would get a table easily … only to find a line halfway down the block. We still DID get a table but it was close!

I ordered the tiny special roll and was informed couldn’t get it until 5 pm due to the brunch menu times. The waitress took our order around 4:20 pm. Then she came back later to take it again-not sure why. The sushi roll was good. I also enjoyed an expressing martini. My friend ordered chicken wings , they were super super tiny. She didn’t complain about the taste though. Only street parking available. Gratuity included for a table for 2.“

“I visited New York for 6 days from the state of Texas and ended up having two meals at this location because the food was just that good. In a city where you have to be the best to survive, we chose to eat here for two meals! The flavors and consistency of quality and service were great. Can't say enough good things about this place! “Food was so authentic. It took me back to some of my favorite spots on St. Marks back when Japanese Restaurants were kind of hole in the wallish and actually owned and prepared by Japanese. Tonkatsu was super crispy and moist. Udon was clean with a true Japanese flavor not flavor packet garbage some restaurants are passing off these days. The curry udon was amazing. Chirashi was delicate, flavorful and fresh. Great staff. Loved it all. Will be back and soon.“

“I live in Forest Hills and I’ve been to this place a few times in the last few months with some friends and let me tell you their beer doesn’t taste any better then a cheap beer or ale from the 99 cent store. I really don’t like to write bad reviews to businesses especially with the pandemic and how bars/ restaurants are struggling to make ends meet today, but I really have had it with this so called owner that was beyond rude to me after I stopped by and used the restroom. I have come as a customer a few times and really needed to make an emergency restroom stop. Since I had patronized his establishment before, I didn’t think it would be a big deal to quickly use the restroom. When I got out of the restroom the owner was very rude and nasty to me, telling me to never come back to his bar. I asked him why and he said because I wasn’t spending money and that my type shouldn’t be allowed to come to his place. I was appalled at his behavior and attitude and told him I will gladly not ever return.“

“Stopped in for a late lunch.. Usually have the Fajitas, but opted for the Taco's instead.. Split 16 Chicken Wings with my friend Paulie... Everything was Great.. Our waitress Michele who was very friendly and pleasant, made sure everything we ordered was ok... Thank you Michele...“

“I ordered a turkey burger on my lunch break, it came with fries and a pickle. It took about 15 minutes to make(which is exactly what they said) we love a punctual lunch! But the best part was the taste! Seriously the best turkey burger I've ever had. I went back to work and told everyone about it. If you are looking for a spot that has indoor seating, cocktails and beer, as well as great food, you should go here! Next time, I'm definitely dining in!“

“We were in town for a wedding, and this was the place where they hosted a pre-wedding celebration. The atmosphere was exciting, and regardless of the large crowd, the servers did an amazing job. Everyone had such an amazing and memorable time.“

“I generally love the food and drinks here. But the experience this time was not good. The bar area was nearly full and there was only one bartender. It took over 20 min for someone to take our order and another 20 min to get the drinks. Everything was delicious. But the spot was severely understaffed.“

Incredible Multitasking and Efficiency.He was seamlessly handling *everything* taking orders from multiple tables, answering customer questions, serving food, and clearing tables – all seemingly at once. “This is a very cool beer joint with large and interesting selection of beers. The place not your average beer bar, but rather a Starbucks that serves beer instead of coffee. This cool place to socialize and even to work. I gave 3 stars just because they serve good sandwiches, but not omg, but again it is just an option to have with an excellent beer.

“(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? And....btw....the only other bar I have ever seen where punters are punching out tasting notes!“

“So my Lenten sacrifice included all things that look good, taste good & make me feel good. So last night after an intense interpersonal interaction earlier in the day I headed to Yatenga. I was greeted by the lovely Todd the bar man (one of the things that look good)who greeted warmly and took my order. He returned with my preferred cocktail-The Lou Lou! The fact that he remembered made me feel like a Prince (only a Prince as he’s a King). I started my meal with the Cauliflower soup which was well flavored and simply delicious. It was so good it was enough to turn a carnivore into a vegetarian! Then I had the Chicken Francaise which was prepared to perfection. The accompanying sauce was smooth and also highly flavored. The chicken breast’s were tender & the texture was as if the chicken had just been sacrificed moments before. The vegetables of haricot verts and carrots were perfectly al dente. And my dessert of Tart Tartin could not have been better; nice flaky crust and perfectly sweetened! In the past 13 years I have not patronized another restaurant in Harlem in particular and NYC in general. Why? Because I don’t have the confidence that I will be as well treated and cared for and well-fed as I am at Yatenga. The fact that Todd the barman does double duty as a server and does it affably is one major reason I keep going back. The management must be superior-why else would the staff be so equally superior. I travel a lot for work & thusly try to avoid restaurants in other towns and villages because I know they’re not Yatenga.“

“Always a pleasure coming to Rove! Tonite was an exceptional experience. I wish i got the bartenders name. Wednesday 4/24/24 between 7-9pm. Nice nails and curly hair. She was funny pleasant and took care of us. Long story short, after great apps and drinks, paid the bill and left…I dropped a $50 out of my pocket after I paid and left and was only 2 store fronts down and she came after me telling me you dropped a bill and gave it back. You don’t see this honestly often anymore. Kudos to her and Rove deserves her as an employee.“
