First they only made one of four orders of steak yaroa, then after waiting for another 30-45 mins we discovered that what we recieved wasn't steak but ground meat. We live in the Bronx and drove to Dyckman specifically for the steak yaroa for my birthday and was only met with disappointment. The ground meat yaroa is still very tasty but not what I went for...I will say after multiple visits back this is the first one that I've experienced this but it's not normal excusable.“

“We went to Tropical Sensation to celebrate the grand opening of Athena's World Travel. We had a group of 6 people and all 6 of us agree that everything about our experience was wonderful. You walk in, order chicharrón by weight and whatever sides you want. Make sure to grab some fresh avocado and passion fruit juice.

The entire staff speaks Spanish and I’ve personally never ordered in English here so I can’t verify the experience ordering in English. The food is so good it’s worth the language barrier.

“We hadn't been here in a while. Looked forward. Start positive: White rice, red beans, and arroz con gandules, very good. However, on a Friday evening (7ish) , there was only 1 server for the entire section. It was not crowded. Empty tables in our section.We placed our orders right away with drinks and an appetizer. We waited more than 30 minutes for our drinks and appetizer. Appetizer never arrived, but our main courses (both the same) did. The fried pork chops were overly cooked - dried excessively. They were more like fried pork chunks. Difficult to eat. Knife had a difficult time cutting the meat. Margarita was subpar at best. Management needs to step up. I am a strong supporter of local restaurants, especially Puerto Rican/Latino establishments. This restaurant is an East Harlem icon. Overall: disappointed.“

“Gustitos is a place where you are welcomed no matter what. They treat you here with so much love and respect. I love coming here to eat or just to have a couple of beers. The ladies here are sweet and give you great customer service. I will recommend this place to anyone. Come and see for yourself. Food is on point and it definitely hits.“

“I stopped by this little restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. I ordered a mangú con tres golpes and it was absolutely on point, well prepared, flavorful, and just the comfort food I was craving. The jugo de Chinola was not overly sweet and it was just right and refreshing, as it should be.

The service was just as great. Yadira took care of us with a big smile, quick service, and genuine kindness that made the experience even better. For such a small spot, it really delivers in both taste and hospitality.

“If you're looking for some of the best Dominican food in the US, it's here - down a few steps, in this pool hall. Everything was delicious, and I absolutely loved the habichuelas (beans). The gallina was tender to the point it was falling off the bone, and the rice was fluffy and full of flavor. This is truly a place where you can taste the love.“

“One of the best places for authentic, natural , delicious Dominican food , they have one of the best beans( they taste absolutely homemade) , I’m crazy about their “Tripe Soup” (Patimongo) although I usually order thru the DoorDash , I went to the place myself today 09/26/2026 , a young man was the one serving me he was super sweet , and had a smile on his face. There was a kid a the cashier machine also super nice and very intelligent. Today I got Beans, Eggplants, Tripe Soup and Liver everything is delicious.Thank you so much! Will be coming back soon.“

“A true authentic Dominican experience. This is the closest flavors to the food I grew up with, compared to what I've had at home and from visiting family in Dominican Republic. No gate-keeping! I want to make sure they get all the love and recognition they deserve. What incredible food, the options rotate daily, they don't have a menu. Not even sure if they have a phone, so just pop in and get your fix! The lady working the counter is incredibly sweet and you can tell cares for her patrons and the community.

“El Gallego Seafood is a great place to go for delicious, comforting Dominican food. One of my favorite things on the menu is their soup—the sancocho is absolutely delicious, and the tripe soup is also really good. They also have a variety of ceviches that are fresh and flavorful.

If you’re looking for traditional Dominican dishes, they have plenty to choose from, including rice and beans, oxtail, saucy meats, fish, and more.

What I really love about this place is that it’s open 24 hours! You can come in at any time of day or night and still get fresh, quality food. I’ve even been there around 2 AM on a Tuesday, and everything looked incredibly fresh.

I actually came in looking for a specific dish that had been recommended to me, but I completely forgot the name of it.
