“The food here was fantastic — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was lovely. Our server was incredibly kind and welcoming; truly one of the best dining experiences in terms of service.

However, our meal was disrupted by a group of unaccompanied children who were very loud, constantly changing the restaurant’s music, and playing with the volume to the point it was hard to hold a conversation. One even mentioned their dad owns the building. Another diner actually asked if they were ours because it was that disruptive.

I really hope the owner addresses this, because it’s not fair to the staff or the guests if the children are being truthful about coming three times a week being this disruptive. Otherwise, this place is wonderful and I’d absolutely return when I’m back in the area.“

“I’ve been coming to Sushi Story since the day it opened, and it continues to impress every single time. The first thing that stood out to me was the service—warm, immediate, and sincere. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted and made to feel welcome. The waitresses are consistently polite, attentive, and always carry a genuine smile. In particular, the waitress with the slicked-back hair has a way of elevating every visit; she’s made several special occasions truly memorable. The restaurant is almost always busy, and for good reason. Because seating can be difficult to secure, I strongly recommend making an RSVP ahead of time. Even with the constant flow of guests, the experience never feels rushed. The master sushi chef is actively engaged with diners, adding an extra touch of authenticity and hospitality to the meal. As for the food—exceptional. The salmon and tuna are always fresh, vibrant, and prepared perfectly. It’s easily one of the best places to enjoy a great evening out with family or friends. “Went in with no expectations, came out a total fan. The atmosphere is very warm, and the food was incredible. My favorite was the salmon, they were prepped with the texture in mind, giving them a soft chew every bite. If you want high quality sushi, you might want to give this place a try.“

“Sushi is outstanding quality. It maybe a few dollars more than some other places, but it's well worth it because of the value you get for the money. The rolls are clearly made with quality ingredients, and doesn't skimp on the fish. It's one of the few places you can get a Spicy Scallop Roll for lunch, which is a favorite. The attention to detail with takeout orders (i.e. spill-proofing, quality chopsticks, etc.) is better than almost any other place I've been too, not just sushi places. The only critique I would offer is they don't have an option for brown rice, but that is far from a deal breaker for me. Overall, highly recommend.“

“After a very long day, I came in get a bite to eat before I went back to traveling. The food is delicious. The staff is incredible. They will go the extra mile for you (literally). After ordering and eating entirely too much delicious food the couple who owns the restaurant gave me a ride to the bus station. “We decided to try this sushi spot under its new ownership—and we’re so glad we did! The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the menu had a great variety of rolls to choose from. My daughter ordered the Udon noodles, which were packed with flavor and served with crisp, fresh vegetables.

The sushi chef even surprised us with a complimentary roll as a thank-you for coming in—it was almost too beautiful to eat! And to top it off, they gave us each a serving of mochi ice cream on the house, which was a perfect sweet ending.

“We had dinner at Matsu on Friday......its a little gem in Hillsdale. We were pleasantly surprised, by the quality and quantity of the food. The Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. “Wow! The fish is so fresh, and buttery, comparable to omakase without the price tag.

I usually don’t order sushi in the summer considering the heat, but this spot has such high quality fish that I’ve ordered 4 times this week in 98 degree weather.

The salmon pieces melt in your mouth, I dream of them.
The tamago is perfectly done, tender, and not too sweet.

The Triple Alliance roll was my favorite. The salmon was perfectly balanced with a bit of spice, sweet eel sauce, & refreshing mango.

Saddle River roll and spicy salmon rolls were also delightful, but a bit too much crunch for my taste.

In my opinion, the dressing that came with the garden salad, not that anyone gets sushi for the salad, needed a bit more ginger and sweetness.

So excited to have found my new go to sushi spot.“

“My family arrived at Sushi and Kimchi late in the evening right before their closing, but the host welcomed us and informed us what was available. We were so grateful. The food was authentic and delicious (My 80 year old Korean mom approved them too!!) and the service was beyond imaginable. We are very jealous of locals who can go eat there often. I wasn't sure how I felt about the pesto on sushi when I tried it but I appreciate the creativity nonetheless. Would love to see one for people who really like spicy food.
