Staff is very friendly. Our server Diego ( hope I spelled it correctly) was, informative, professional, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to chat with. A matter of fact, in today's dark & divided climate; he was a breath of fresh air. We enjoyed his menu suggestions very much. The food was a plus 10! They even gave my husband and I a salmon & rice appetizer to sample, to welcome us to the area. Seriously, who does this anymore? Top notch customer service!! Most enjoyable meal & evening. “Positive vibes and a great experience. I’ve visited this place several times in person, and I’ve also done takeout a couple of times. The most recent time was takeout. I needed to feed a small group and asked about platter offerings, but was told they don’t have any set menus. They asked what I was looking for and made some recommendations to fit my needs and requested budget.

To say that I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. They delivered and then some. It was a combination of various sushi, regular rolls, and specialty rolls.

They also asked about any potential allergies in the group, along with any specific preferences or dislikes.

The food was fantastic in taste and presentation. It was well packed and came with plenty of ginger, wasabi, and miso soup. They also gave me delicious tea while I waited for them to complete my order.

I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.“

“New City Sushi is a small tradition style Sushi bar/restaurant with an inviting atmosphere and service. A family run establishment with a single sushi chef that shows dedication in the meals he creates. Passing through the area I stopped in and requested an Omakase at the bar and was given a wonderful experience! The multi course Omakase featured some unique dishes such as Chuka Idako, fried Shishamo, Madai, Hotategai, Chutoro, Maine Uni and Chawanmushi. Overall this was a pleasant experience with a good atmosphere and tradition dishes you may not find at your typical sushi restaurant 6.7/10.“

“We had dinner at Matsu on Friday......its a little gem in Hillsdale. We were pleasantly surprised, by the quality and quantity of the food. The Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. They very friendly and warm. It was a most enjoyable dinner. We have ordered food to takeout but hadn't been inside the restaurant since the pandemic.... We will definitely go again soon. Two minor gripes: our bikkuras kept getting stuck (but servers definitely came through for us) AND since we came at 7:40pm… they were basically done putting food on the belt so we had to order everything by hand instead of getting that conveyor belt experience. So, maybe if that is important to you, come earlier!“

“I almost forgot about this spot but remembered it from when I trained at the martial arts gym down the street. I saw the other reviews raved about the food and the impressive menu for such a little spot so I decided to stop in for lunch. Very delicious indeed and the fish was rather fresh and clean tasting. They offer a decently priced menu full of Japanese favorites including cooked dishes if you are not a sushi fan. I opted for a traditional tuna maki roll and a spicy tuna roll as apart of the lunch special. Both were so tasty I ended up ordering another roll to go and the crispy rice. I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and traditional decor, very bright and clean looking. Sometimes these restaurants these days can get a little too funky with the decor so they made a proper choice maintaining simplicity. I see they deliver so I will definitely be ordering again when I am not in the area.“

Waiter Han and Chef Lou worked so seamlessly together—it honestly elevated the entire evening.
