“I experienced Nettie’s for the first time last evening. My dining experience was excellent from arrival to departure. The food was “DELISH!” The owner was welcoming & hospitable, the service was good, and the music and atmosphere wea awesome! I am so pleased and proud to have a “Black” owned establishment where you can dine in Queens in a tasteful environment, supporting our entrepreneurs and our community. I, along with others will be back!!!“

“This spot is new to the block according to the owner which was very nice. For a spot that just came in, the food was delicious I must admit, there wasn’t much we could pick from the menu because they were still getting things together but I got chicken, macaroni and cheese inside a craved out pineapple. Yummy… the service was laggy however it’s clear they were trying which made the process feel promising. I believe within a year or 2 this spot is going to be poppin off something nice. Drinks were ok!“

“My sister orders food from here on Sundays for my father, herself, and I. The food has always been good. Yesterday, I went into the shoppe myself and ordered. I was very impressed with the layout. There were items on the menu I didn't even know about prior 👍🏾. I am really impressed by the fact this is a Black owned establishment. I'm even more impressed by the fact the spot is owned and operated by some members of the Diasporic family. I say this because they know their clientale well and cater to them without flaw. “Place is very clean, the food does taste good, you only have to watch out for the amount you take it goes by weight. Overall, I like the food here, its buffet style most things are weighted by the pound.“

“Food was great we ordered the fry chicken with rice and peas and salad. We originally wanted B-B fry but there was none . We got mild beef , ackee , vegetable and chicken patties as well. They were a little small and needed some more filling but they were tasty.“

Food portions are large, prices are great for the amount of food you are getting. One plate lasts 2 days. They are my go to for delicious soul food. “10/10! Super friendly staff and everything was delicious. I went in anticipating oxtails but they were out, so I opted for jerk chicken, Mac and cheese and rice and peas. Literally the most flavorful rice and peas I’ve ever had! Mac was tasty and well seasoned and the jerk chicken was the perfect blend of tang and spice. I looked forward to having leftovers but ate the entire plate in one sitting. Will definitely be back :))“

This place is exactly what the name implies a small, Black-owned Mom & Pop Shop operation.

So don’t expect bells and whistles, but definitely expect good food and good people.

Admittedly, I have slept on this place for years, passing it up for more bedazzled restaurants amongst the BedStuy thoroughfare, but I have most assuredly been missing out.

The menu is Southern and homemade. If you really want food that tastes like home, this is the place.

The fish is fried to perfection and admittedly that’s my favorite thing here. Although the fried pork chops are the business as well. And the turnaround time for ordering is pretty quick. So it’s not a long wait for food you may be feenin for. (Like me!)

The service is fast and in all honesty the breakfast reminds of me how my mom and aunts from VA cook. With love and care.
Like they are happy you are here or there and just want you to sit down and eat while they look at you enjoy the food.

I have to try more things on the menu, but I am absolutely STUCK on their all day breakfast menu!

Other places in the neighborhood and around BK may be cute and fancy-ish and have more amenities, but this 19 year old, family run, Black-owned, Bedstuy staple is very much worth the trip, the reasonable pricing and the community love and support it deserves.

“Omg... I ordered them on UberEats. BBQ Turkey wings with greens and plantain and Beef Ribs with Mac and Yams. I couldn't wait to dig into the BBQ Turkey wings. Chef's Kiss. The most tender turkey wings I've ever had in NYC. Couldn't get the photo fast enough before I damn near devoured the wing. Greens and plantain were spectacular. The Beef ribs were just as tender. Complete fall off the bone tender. Mac and Yams were spectacular also. Hands down, a must try if in the mood for good home cooking. Nothing was over salted like some other places. Everything seasoned very well.“
