“Nice place Relaxed 25 and older spot this the first time I been here and I had a not so nice experience I went to move my car and had a hard time getting back in due to security stating it was too crowded but the bar had my card with an open tab after that 15 min wait to close my tab and get my card I didn't want to stay I left“

“I was in the mood for GOOD soul food last weekend. I went in my Yelp app and realized there weren't much options close to Flatbush area. I drove to Katie O Soul and liked there was a short line and DJ outside. One window opened a wonderful young lady asked if I have eaten there before and I said no.
I love the tiny sample cups and spoons because you try before you buy and know exactly what to order once you get to the cashier. The frozen pina colada was super creamy and perfect amount of sweetness. The Mac and cheese and candied yams were a perfect combo for me. The fried chicken wings were well seasoned like someone granny made it.
Be prepared to wake because I was there over 10 mins and my food was piping hot like the chicken was just fried. I will definitely be back for the customer service and food.

I also love any donations (they don't accept tips) the team claps and announce to the crowd and all proceeds provide FREE home cooked meals to people in need.“

“A group of friends and myself showed up towards the end of the night and were still happily served by Ne, who helped us through the menu and brought all of our food with ease. I had the lemonade which was amazing, as well as the catfish (with rice and mac and cheese). As someone from the South (texas) I had never had such good soul food. “My best friend and I visited Essence Bar and Grill yesterday (8/8/26). We wanted to grab a bite to eat and enjoy some music so I suggested this place since we hadn’t visited in years.

Our server was amazing and knowledgeable about all of the menu items. She has a wonderful personality and we enjoyed our conversation with her.

She suggested a few menu items and we both decided to order two side orders of yams along with our orders of buffalo wings & fries and a fish, shrimp and fries basket.

The temperature of the food when served was good and the food was delicious. We are both ready to go back for another meal because our experience was great.“

It was the freshest salmon I tasted and was on a bed of rice so healthy and still tasty! “As soon you walk in you're greeted and asked if it's your 1st time. All to be given a sampler of greens, yams, wing and Mac and cheese. The crunch and flavor on the wing was everything. I ordered the whiting dinner with yams and tuna macaroni. Peach cobble and Big Tea fresh brewed. Would return to try more.“
