“Some of the best if not the best food I've had in jersey, outside of other cuisines I regularly eat. Great place to treat yourself or someone after a hard time.Food portions were heavy, 3 people split 2 entrees and 2 starters and had food to take home. “This was my second time here. The first time was for breakfast , and I literally sat there writing a bad review due to the time it took for my food to come. As I was writing my food came, I deleted my review, cause my breakfast was delicious yall ? fast forward, I went for dinner yesterday since I had a taste for soul food. I was not disappointed. The service alone ! The owner, the cook. I felt like I was at my great auntie house. Gonna make this a least once a month staple . “Tried this cornbread in Newark. I must say the food was fresh and very tasty. The workers were friendly and they all did a great job. After visiting the Maplewood store I was turned off because the service and food in Maplewood was horrible. But with a lot of convenseing from my daughter in love. I tried the one in Newark and am very please with portion size and freshness. I will return when I back down in Newark again.“
“Good soul food. I had the catfish and two piece breast and wing. I've had better potato salad, won't be getting that anymore. Yams, mac & cheese and cabbage was good. Yellow rice is nothing special. It tastes like Goya yellow rice. I don't eat cornbread but theirs was AMAZING. Overall it was good.“

“My first time trying A Mother's Touch. Chef Mel has genuinely pleasant energy. She was patient as we made a decision. I wanted the Chicken & Sweet potato waffles which they don't make after a certain time. She made an exception and made my mine fresh. The chicken was well seasoned, crispy and juicy. I loved the texture of the waffle and it wasn't overly sweet. We also had the combo whiting/shrimp with greens and Mac and cheese. The fish and shrimp were well seasoned. The shrimp were a nice size. The mac and cheese was absolutetly cheesy and not dry. We also had a fish sandwich which was served with cajun fries. As a fry snob I had to steal one and I will be back for my own order. Honestly the best soul food experience I have had in Jersey in a while. The service and the food were both ?“

“I have been craving banana pudding for some time and didn’t want to go in the city. Every place I’ve gone in New Jersey uses soggy wafers and chalky pudding. Now THIS is banana pudding, I’m actually worried about how dangerous this can be for me. It is delicious! I haven’t had an opportunity to try other items but I certainly will. Please give it a try.“
“Went here for the first time today and everything was delicious!!! The customer service was awesome and they give you a nice portion!!! Hubby said the yams were the best he’s ever had, and my favorite were the Lima beans!! The smothered chicken wings were delicious and we both loved the rice and gravy too!!!“

Its a small but place that hold up to 24 in the front but their back room appears to hold another 24 equipped with 2 long tables. The host was very warm & nice. They had a guest that was waiting for his food & it looked delicious when delivered...Fried fish & potatoesalad...It was a quiet night not a lot going on just the game playing & staff. Food came not a long wait but that was ok because my husband wanted his Catfish hot and it was with a really light fluffy waffle. I had the Turkeywings, lima beans, mac& cheese. cornbread. Waiter did allow hubby to same bleackeyepeas & Lima beans and he really enjoyed that. We look forward tovreturning.. “This was my first time at Kings and it won’t be my last. I ordered takeout earlier today and Angela was so friendly and welcoming. I’ve never had smothered turkey chops before. They were UH-MAZE-ING!!! The catfish was nicely seasoned and the fried chicken was crispy and juicy. The potato salad was the best I’ve ever had except for my mama’s. And I can’t stop eating that pineapple coconut cake.“

My son had silver dollar pancakes with the turkey sausage links. He loved the links and he really doesn't eat meat often so that was great! Price is fair. There were three of us and the bill was about $68. That included our drinks as well.Kid-friendliness: They made my son, several silver dollar pancakes. It was a lot! “For starters, let me just state that this was my first time ever eating African food. I had okra, white rice, and debie. This eatery was highly recommended by a friend, and it was delicious. However, the person cooking was really unpleasant when I returned alone one day, and I nearly decided not to return even though I was really craving it. I returned to give it one last try, and I'm glad I did because I visit this place nearly every week. The individual I interacted with during this interaction was really kind and supportive. I haven't tried anything else on the menu, but the white rice and okra combination is AMAZING. The best part is that there is a lot of food and it is quite reasonably priced.“

“I absolutely love Montclair, NJ - It's definitely a foodie town! I've been to a few restaurants here before and they were all awesome, so I was so excited to try some soul food at this spot! I was greeted by their friendly and informative staff! I also loved the rustic decor and large comfy booths! I tried a variety of yummy food: For my proteins, I had the fried chicken and turkey wings! And for sides, I had mac and cheese, white rice with gravey, collard greens and potato salad! I ordered the peach cobbler and apple cobbler for desserts, and finally for drinks, I had the Uptown (lemonade and iced tea mix) and Southern Twang (a secret formula drink that has citrus flavors!) The turkey wings portion was absolutely huge!! I've never tried turkey wings that weren't fried before (I believe these were baked) so it was definitely something different! The chicken was nice and crispy and had lots of flavor! As for the sides, I absolutely loved the collard greens - probably the best I've ever had! It wasn't bitter, the texture was not mushy and I loved the savory flavors! The potato salad was also different - it tasted almost like a deviled egg! The apple and peach cobblers were the perfect sweets to end this delicious meal!“
