“This place is excellent. I bought my friend from Japan with his family and was happy to take them to Cornbread for some authentic soul food. Needless to say my friend and his family loved the experience. They were finishing a road trip throughout the US and they thought the food at Cornbread was some of the best they had in their month long journery. The turkey wings were particularly good and I'm saying this as a person who is mostly vegetarian. Service was also excellent with attentive help and the servers were conversational and friendly with my friends and I. Bathrooms were also very clean. I wholeheartedly recommend Cornbread Montclair as a solid business and a great place for delicious Soul Food.“

“I took food to my job and they loved I brought a pan of yellow rice cabbage and a $20 pan of potato salad and took it to my job cause we had a birthday party for a coworker. They loved the food they never had it before I live in South Amboy but I’m from Newark work in Matawan at the nursing home, and they never had the flu before they loved it. Good job, kings.“

“The weekend spot is our go-to place for catering! If you’re planning a meeting or family get-together, you absolutely have to check out The weekend spot! Chef Mo is fantastic, and her team is always quick and precise with our setups.

We’ve had turkey wings, garlic string beans, chicken, sweetish meatballs, baked beans, salmon. The Chocolate crunch cake was so good. Ask about their vegan options. Thanks so much to the Weekend Staff!

“Listen!!!!!!! I’m one of the biggest critics when it comes to food, and I’m usually the first person to jump online and give a bad review when something isn’t right. HOWEVER… D&J Country Cooking is absolutely AMAZING. 💯 I was a little disappointed that they don’t offer dine-in, because I would’ve loved to enjoy my food hot at a table. Instead, I ended up eating it in my car. But let me tell you — it was still worth it. I ordered the fish, yams, and mac & cheese… and it was incredible. Everything was seasoned perfectly and tasted like real home cooking. When I walked in, I was welcomed by a very kind elderly woman who greeted me with eye contact, a warm attitude, and great recommendations. She was sweet, helpful, and really made me feel comfortable about trying the food. It was a true example of Southern hospitality. I’m giving this spot 9 stars. It would’ve been a full 10 if they had dine-in seating, because the food is so good it deserves to be enjoyed fresh at a table. Hopefully they consider adding a sit-down option in the future because it would really take the experience to another level. I’ll definitely be back. “Dishes are not consistent. My meatloaf was burned so badly they put a lot of BBQ sauce on it to cover it up. This was done despite the fact that I requested no sauce. Next time I requested one blackened whiting dish and was given fried whiting.“
