“I found this gem accidentally and I was grateful for finding it. I eat Spanish cuisine on an almost daily basis but I never had Peruvian cuisine. The menu had some familiar dishes, so I was conservative in my order. I ordered arroz con mariscos y tostones (rice with seafood and fried green plantains).When I entered, the restaurant was small but cozy. The waitress attended to me right away. I was given something to snack on while waiting for my order. It was some type of corn that had the texture of nuts and a greenish sauce with a small spoon. The corn was interesting (crunchy and had the taste of crackers). The sauce was absolutely amazing. It was spicy but not too spicy. I could taste the complexity of the combined ingredients. I asked the waitress about the ingredients in order to check out if I was correct in my guess but she didn’t know.I'm that one who puts hot sauce on everything so this was up my alley. The food was delicious on its own but when I added that magical sauce, it tasted like next level delicious. Subtle flavors with a little kick ?.The prices were as expected (expensive) considering it was a seafood dish. The portion was generous. The rice was short grained and red in color. The rice had two large mussels placed artistically. There were large shrimps, a half of a soft shelled crab that was a bit small. There was a fair amount of calamari (squid). It was firm but not rubbery. I added a little salt to my tostones but otherwise the food was flavorful. Like I said, the portion was generous so I couldn’t eat it all. I took the rest home and asked for two of that magical sauce to go lol.I took one star off because it was too small. They made the space work but one of tables (where I sat) was really close to the hostess’s area. I would suggest that each table should have their own sanitizer instead of passing one around. All in all, Don Alex is a nice restaurant. I think that it’s my new go to place when I’m in the area.“
“I hated Lima beans, until I ate them at Contento. In fact, everything I ate there was perfection. My husband and I sat at the bar, which is exactly where I’d sit again. It’s cozy, comfortable and you can see some of the kitchen action as well as chat with fellow diners. The chef came out and helped us pick out a great bottle of wine. I use a wheelchair, which is what first attracted me to going to Contento. I appreciate feeling included. But I have recommended the place to friends and the next time I’m in New York I look forward to going back.“
“Te amo Mission Ceviche! My Boyfriend took me here for my birthday. The entire staff treated me like a King! The customer service at this restaurant is absolutely incredible! The food is a gastronomical fantasy. Incredible flavors, fresh ingredients, truly mouth-watering meals. My Boyfriend is from Peru and he says Mission Ceviche is like coming home for him. He is practically obsessed with the two ceviche dishes (Mixto y Classico). For me it is the short ribs. O-M-G I don’t think I have EVER had a meal so memorable and incredibly delicious. To be honest my words do not do the deliciousness of this meal justice. Simply put...it is oh so good. The short rib is cooked to perfection and is so tender you can eat it with a spoon. The accompanying sides are the perfect compliment. The sauce that’s used...I hope they bottle it because I would buy vats of it! The rice with choclo is sublime. The tres leches rich, creamy and absolutely decadent. The food is amazing. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. The music is fiyah. The location is super convenient—a half a block to the subway and Crosstown bus. What really sets Mission Ceviche apart is the incredible Maitre’d Carlos. He treats all patrons the same...from babies in strollers to celebrities. He is so incredibly kind, humble, gracious, charming, intelligent, professional and inspiring. He is passionate and proud. It is awesome to see him keep the atmosphere ebullient and festive and the food flowing. He manages it all so effortlessly. I think it is because he honestly loves his chosen career and when you’re happy and you know it “work” is pure joy. That joy Carlos gives it to all of the Mission Ceviche patrons. This was not me and my Boyfriend’s first time dining at Mission Ceviche. We are now greeted by our first names when we arrive. Carlos is there and he has the biggest smile and we know that we are in great hands and know we will eat well. Every dining experience at Mission Ceviche is amazing! “Yea, this place is amazing. We were looking for a quick bite in LIC on a hot day. We were able to sit down before the kitchen break at 3:30pm to order entrees. We sat in the outdoor seating area, which had great jungle ambiance. Servers were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great cocktail menu. Started off with a few drinks, the pisco sours were amazing. We tried the ceviche mixto and arroz con mariscos, fresh and delicious seafood. There is limited but parking available! Overall, great food, beautiful interior decor, great service, and decent pricing for the area.“

Been here multiple times and the food is great with the downstairs vibes giving you upscale without needing to be all dressed up.The ceviche is a must get, as well as the jalea which is the fried seafood platter, Juanita’s chicken (very tender and not dry at all), as well as the lomo saltado (top pick for non-seafood ppl) which is the wok fried beef chunks and veggies. I have worked for a long time at the Hirohisa Restaurant in Soho, which has had a Michelin star since 2017 and I found the Peruvian food excellent. (I am Peruvian). I recommend it. The lomo saltado is really filet mignon and cooked to perfection, delicious male corvina, spicy shrimp, chaufa rice with chicken and not to mention the pineapple pisco sour the best, etc.“

“When I found out this family business is co-owned by a fellow Queens College Alum, I had to come!!! It's so inviting and the hostess (sister) was more than accommodating. We were seated quickly and we were able to see the menu both print and via QR Code. We (my husband and I) loved the drink we had as well as the Aji Galina and Arroz Chaufa con Pollo. Extra sauces and a small corn based appetizer was given right away as well. I also appreciated the clean bathroom, which has a urinal and normal toilet, also ADA/wheelchair friendly. Chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the rice and beans were a nice complement. Yucca and plantains weren't so great, probably wouldn't order again and would instead opt for the avocado salad next time. The chichi morra drink was just OK though. Sort of like the Mexican hibiscus drink but not really worth $3. The guys are friendly and they accept credit cards. Usually a small line during lunch. But it moves fast.“
