The food is truly sublime and without any pretentiousness - yet with creative attention to detail and the perfect sized portions - just truly delicious. I recommend grabbing a few dishes for the table and sharing to have the full experience of the menu, which also makes it even more familial feeling. “The food was impeccable. The shish barak stood out immediately — brought fully to life by Huda’s deft touch of spice. Among the appetizers, the bandora showcased heirloom tomatoes at their absolute freshest, while the rakkat achieved a rare and graceful balance between sweet and savory. The kibbeh naya is a must-try for anyone who appreciates raw meat.

Service, courtesy of Ismail, was warm without being intrusive, striking exactly the right note. We will be back.“

“The food is amazing! We had the mussels, Brussels sprouts, artichoke hearts, chicken, shepherd’s pie, fish sandwich, and burger. The drinks were wonderful and the ambiance was so much fun. Really had a laugh at the bathroom with all the googly eyes.“

They aren’t too expensive as well as the food prices. I recommend coming for a happy hour as they are really cheap as well would come again.“

“Love L&V! The natural wine list is awesome, lots of orange wine and other fun options I'd never tried. The bartender walked us through a few different wines without being precious about it. The cocktail list is great, too. Space has such a good vibe and it never felt stuffy even though the wine knowledge runs deep. I'm already planning to bring friends back. “What a gem in BK! Not sure how I didn’t know about Trove before this but I’m so glad that now I do. Came here on Friday with a group of friends and it was wonderful we stayed til close. Their wine selection is so well curated, they had some juicy natural reds that we loved. The staff are cool, funny, and delightful. The meatballs were amazing, we got both the little gem and Caesar salad and both were excellent. Can’t remember which pizzas we got but we finished every one. Excited to come back, thanks for a beautiful dinner Trove!“

“This is hands down one of the most special places in Brooklyn, maybe all of NYC. Something about Barzakh inherently feels like home from the second you walk in the door. Every time I’ve been here, the vibe has been unique. At night, it feels exciting, and carries an element of alternative nightlife. During the day, it’s analog, cozy, like your own back yard, and during community events, it’s a place for folks from every background to come together and appreciate a new form of art they may not have been exposed to before. This cafe is everything life in NYC should be—community driven, exciting, familiar in some ways, foreign in others.

“I’m not giving full stars cause the staff kicked us out after being there for roughly 30 minutes and wanted us to come back in but wait in line and pay a cover. We had no idea a band was playing that night, and they could have told us at the door. We were all in the middle of games and drinks so it was not ideal. Outside of this, i was impressed with the amount of weird retro niche games, and it had a proper dive bar atmosphere. Would probably return, hopefully they improve their customer service by that time.“

“The space is small and cozy but full of character and vibes. Doing it via IG and loved the idea of the DJ playing vinyls while the patrons jammed over drinks and signature wings. Invitation accepted!

Bae and I pulled up on a Wed around 6:30 and it was way too soon as we were practically the only people there. We wasted no time in getting to the heart of the matter: wings and drinks. I had the Blueberry Mule a nonalcoholic spritzer with a ginger beer base, blueberries and lime with fresh rosemary. It was so refreshing I could’ve had 6. He had the Bust It Baby Bourbon with rye, grenadine, pineapple, orange, lemon, Demerara, angostura. He loved it! I ordered the Brown Butter Buffalo wings and he had lemon pepper. We shared an order of fries hot out the deep fryer with light seasoning and he added mozzarella sticks. We were happy to big back down everything but the mozzarella sticks which had no pull and were very dry.
The service was immaculate. Our order was timely, drinks made to perfection and we got what we went there for . Good eats, great music and vibes.

We had errands to run so we left and then came back shortly after 9:00 and could barely get on it was so packed.

Overall, there’s only one way to sum this place up- think Cheers but black-owned. Everyone knows each other by name and gives hugs and there appears to be a strong sense of community amongst staff and patrons. I’ll be back real soon.“

“Five Leaves is a great cafe, we were after a solid brunch spot and it hit the spot perfectly. We ordered full breakfasts and the food was fantastic, the coffee was great too.

We sat outside and it was lovely on a sunny day, would definitely recommend.“

“(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? And....btw....the only other bar I have ever seen where punters are punching out tasting notes!“

“This is such a cool spot for a get together with friends in Ridgewood. We went after dinner from Rolos and our bartender provided great explanations and recommendations for our drinks. The drinks were made well, but most importantly this bar has a very cool ambiance, and very much similar to a lounge experience.

I would definitely recommend this spot as a stopover from dinner whether you're out with a small group or on a date.“

“Please I beg of you, get some FORKS and KNIVES. The wooden chopsticks you give out with food are round and roll off the table onto the floor. When we asked for a knife to cut our burger and empanadas we were given a kitchen knife and told it had to be returned right away, and they didn’t have forks either. How are people supposed to share things? It’s crazy to me that most of your menu items (delicious btw) are meat and you do not give out proper utensils. Even disposable forks and knives would suffice. I would love to come back if this issue can be fixed.“
