“Ordered fried wings and pork fried rice. Wings are average size. Was kinda over fried but not too much. Pork fried rice is balanced with onion, pork meat, salt and not greasy. Also ordered French fries and fried baby shrimps. They came out over fried but are ok. Fries more on a greasy side a bit soggy. It was really quick, fast service. This is typical NYC style Chinese in the hood.“

I would recommend double crispy pork slices with sweet & sour sauce锅包肉, stir-fried duo 溜两段 and LanZhou noodles 兰州拉面(this is a Chinese northwestern local famous but still very tasty).“

“One of if not the best Chinese take out spot in Bedstuy. You don't come here for atmosphere. You come for consistently good, well priced neighborhood Chinese food. They have the staple Americanized favorites like chicken wings with fried rice/fries. But also they also do traditional dishes you'd see in Chinatown. They velvet the meat and cook with wok hei that imbues that delicious smokey flavor.

We usually get beef with string beans and the Chicken eggplant in black bean sauce.

“There is absolutely no monkey-ing around at Monkey King. From the moment you grasp the handle of the entry door, there is no way you won’t leave transformed. While being greeted by the oh so kind hostess, you are given a moment to truly embrace the aura of the space. As the hostess carefully walks you to your seat, you begin to feel the opulence of the decor melting away the stress of your day.
The journey truly begins once you scan the restaurant menu. There you will find an array of beautifully thought out cocktails, wines, and dishes that truly awakens one’s curiosity.
To begin our journey, my cousin and I thoroughly enjoyed the Char Siu and Scallion Pancakes to wet our palettes. Hannah, our server, patiently guided us through the cocktail options making superb recommendations. Our first round of cocktails included the Serpent’s Tale and the Immortal Peach. We then drooled over the Cumin Lamb Ribs and Roasted Duck- Fat Fried Rice. All dishes bringing us to euphoria. To close out, we ordered another round of cocktails that included the Heartbeet and Pandan Express. The cocktails were so incredible that I literally got out my seat and walked to our bartender, Thieanna, to give her applause.
Which, by the way she accepted with such humility. The craftsmanship of those cocktails surely deserves a spot on the 50 Best Bars in the World. And as someone who has been to five bars on the list within the last four months, the compliment comes with ease because they definitely belong on that list.
I want to express my gratitude to Thieanna, Hannah, Thom, De Cory, and Nana for such a superb dining experience. Little did they know that the warm service along with the outstanding meal helped me to kick the depression that was knocking at my door that day. So thanks Monkey King for a memorable journey. My main Chinese take out order is always General Tso tofu and most of the other places in Bed Stuy/Bushwick tend to serve bean curd style tofu, which is okay, but nowhere near as delicious as the texture they served me.

Their was so much that they couldn't close the bucket! OUTSTANDING!The sauce was very tasty. The only thing missing was the cherry and pineapple chunk.The fried dumpling were delicious. The mystery meat inside was not off putting in anyway. The dipping sauce was not just a container of soy sauce but actual sauce with real ginger and other spices! And I got two! So when I saw East Garden I was very hesitant on going in but eventually decided to take a chance at fate, little did I know how much their General Tao's chicken with shrimp lo mein would change my life for the better.See I can't handle too-too much spice, so I was reluctant to get it but the aroma brought back memories of my grandparents eating the General Tao's chicken from back home and got it anyway.Once I saw it, I noticed it had just the right amount of sticky sauce, it was churchy but soft too (Which I loved) and from the moment I tasted it, I was immediately reminded of the times I had with my grandparents. Since I recently lost my grandmother, this moment made me burst into tears (Happy ones of course) when I had gotten home. It wasn't too spicy and had a tint of sweetness, an paired with the Shrimp Lo Mein turned out to be the right choice, The dish was very very Delicious.
