We ordered the blueberries cheese cake and it was the best cheesecake I have ever had, not too sweet and with real fresh blueberries. I never believed in the science of mixology or that a mixologist was a skilled tradesmen. But the old man who made our drinks must have been the Gordon Ramsey of Bartending. Your average bartender is a frycook by comparison. I had a few of their signature cocktails as well as a Manhatten and an old fashioned; my go-to drink so I've had a lot of them from a lot of different places, and never in my decades of life have I tasted such a perfectly mixed old fashioned. It was sublime and I doubt I'll taste its equal again in this lifetime unless I find myself in Kingston again and this man happens to be behind the bar once more. He also whipped up some scratch-made eggnog with alcohol and it was exquisite.“
“I love that you can choose your own adventure at Avalon Lounge. You can see a show, eat good Korean food, hang out upstairs where it's a little quieter, play pool, or hang in the main bar. It's always a good time. I also love that they do pop-ups/markets during the day sometimes on weekends!“

“The four of us had a wonderful evening at the Universal Cafe last night. Dinner was absolutely delicious, creatively composed, and I can’t wait to return. Located in Germantown, NY only 30 minutes away from Rhinebeck, it’s a hidden gem that was the perfect spot on a cold Winter’s night. I started my meal with thinly sliced sweet Cara Cara oranges on a pool of peppery olive oil with crushed pistachios served ice cold… so refreshing after the decadent pâté appetizer. My cod entree was beautifully cooked and served with a silky root vegetable purée. The chocolate pot de crème finished the meal and was so good. The portions were generous, the prices very reasonable, and our server was super charming. Thank you for a wonderful night!“

And they have rye bauernbrot that is the real deal! I will try to return everytime I travel to that area. “We had our teens birthday party here and the owners were so friendly, patient and accommodating. Some of our party members were late and the staff were very patient and polite. They kept everything running smoothly despite how busy the day was (multiple parties and a league playing on top of regular Saturday crowd). Everyone in our party had a great time, everything was clean and ready to go. All the party planning was provided, we just had to show up with cupcakes. A huge time and sanity saver for parents. Always a good experience when we bowl here.“

The half chicken dish is simply unbelievable - in a class of its own.If there were any disappointments it was only because many other dishes performed so well. “Greeted by the owner when walked in and sat at the bar for a cocktail. Bartender Steve was friendly and made a great Manhattan with a heavy pour. Our waitress Michelle was very friendly and accommodating. The calamari appetizer had a light batter with great flavor and the halibut bites were so tasty. Main courses were strip steak, bone in pork chop with apples, chicken Lombardo and cod. All 4 of us raved over the flavors of our meals. Broccoli was amazing as well as their French fries. To top the evening off, the owner Denny stopped by our table and was so friendly and gave us a history of the restaurant. Highly recommend for a date night or any occasion.“
“Was staying in Cairo at the Catskills Getaway cabins, and got in after dark the first night. Didn't feel like cooking, so we found this unexpected gem along the Catskill Creek. There was only another party of 3 at the bar at the time, however the bartender quickly warmed up to us and had great conversation throughout. We started with the DJ Shrimp. Delicious, just the right bit of kick (spice heat). Then we had Chicken Milanese, and a rotating seasonal pasta called Tuscan Sausage Fusilli with EVOO, spinach and sun dried tomatoes, with a Side of focaccia bread. All were delicious, and very filling. Everything was perfect for a Birthday dinner. The liquor drinks were kind of pricey, but I should have expected that for a double Bulleit I suppose. All in all, absolutely try this gem if you come across it, you will not be disappointed for quality and ambiance.“

“I love this place, the food and atmosphere is amazingly awesome, so calm and beautiful. I love the artwork in the bathrooms, I think the wall of locks ? is very unique and fun! The noodle bowls are so yummy! I just wish they would add more noodles because the portions compared to liquid/meat seem off, I always buy an extra side of noodles because of this. “Valentine's Day was our first time eating here. We were blown away. The upstairs dining room was the perfect atmosphere for the night. Service was stellar. The drink specials were awesome. We had the calamari to start and then the braised short ribs for me and the ravioli for my girlfriend. We capped it off with after dinner drinks and desserts. We had a great time and it was well worth the price! We will be back!“
