“This place ended up being such a pleasant surprise. The menu had a really nice variety without feeling overwhelming — plenty of different meat cuts, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, and lighter options, so it felt easy to find something that matched whatever mood you’re in.

We started with the French onion soup, and it was honestly one of the better versions I’ve had in a while. The cheese on top was perfectly melted and flavorful without becoming too heavy, and the balance between the broth and onions was done really well. A lot of places overload the onions to the point where the soup loses its depth, but this one kept everything balanced and comforting.

We also ordered a panini-style baguette sandwich, which was fresh, crisp, and packed with flavor. The bread had a great texture, and the mix of vegetables paired really nicely with the vinaigrette and mustard dipping sauces. The sauces actually stood out because they added flavor without overpowering the sandwich itself.

The atmosphere made the whole experience even better. The bright interior, cozy setup, and French snacks lining the walls gave the restaurant a charming café feel that felt both casual and inviting. It had personality without trying too hard to be trendy.

Another highlight was the staff. Everyone was incredibly polite, patient, and genuinely helpful when it came to recommendations. Even with the place staying busy, the food came out surprisingly fast, which made the experience feel smooth from start to finish.

And the Nutella crepe absolutely lived up to expectations. They definitely didn’t hold back on the filling, and it made for a really satisfying dessert to end the meal.

The only small downside is that indoor seating is limited, so I could see it becoming crowded during peak hours. Still, between the quality of the food, the welcoming atmosphere, and the friendly service, it’s definitely a spot worth returning to.“

I love that they use unbromated flour and I appreciate that every piece (even the specialty slices with many heavy toppings) has great structure, no flop. Thin & crispy crust, great ratio of sauce and cheese. I also love how clean the restaurant is. They have some incredible specialty slices that I never knew I needed in my life until I tried them! Especially the “Desi Boy” slice and the “white truffle chicken cutlet” slice. I also have to mention their vodka slice with sesame crust 🤤 Everything in this place is high quality, even their regular slices. “Who normalized charging $20 for an Italian sub? It just feels un-American. Thankfully D&F in Astoria is more patriotic than that and their Italian combo hero is a very reasonable $10.50. It comes with all the classic meats, provolone, and oil & vinegar. My personal opinion is that an Italian sandwich is better after a few hours in the fridge so plan accordingly.“
