Salt City Coffee and Bar Bar • $$

“Loved the orange clove iced latte I got, and they had some great pastries too, I think I tried an almond bar. Once I accidentally ordered something I thought was coffee, that also had raspberry tea in it, so taking a sip of that was just kinda like...confusing during that first sip lmao. I have delayed processing so menus with very little info confuse me. So I just asked the barista "What am I drinking rn?" But it was an interesting drink and a new experience that I enjoyed.“

“Newfys is great. Nestled just off the beaten path it's a small little tavern but it makes up in character. Shannon or Nate behind the bar treat you more like family than a customer and are extremely accommodating. I had a blast every time I've been in there and the drink concoctions they muster up are excellent. This last weekend was topped off by a visit here. The icing on the cake if you will.“

“Great dining located in the heart of the Northside. It's a bit unexpected in terms of location, but as you walk in, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. Even more impressive is their menu. It may look like a pub from the outside, but it's pretty clear as you walk in and dine, that's its far from that. I've had lunch and dinner here on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The complimentary HOT bread is fresh and delicious. The meal portions are enough for either 2 to share, or take home for lunch the next day. The service has always been friendly and professional. Riley's isn't very big, so if you want to be ensured of a table, go around 4:30/5pm.“

“It's a decent local watering hole. My brother in law and I got 2 dozen wings. Sweet chili and flaming mango. Both were good but nothing to rave about. The sauce coating was on the heavier side but not absolutely drenched, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The wings themselves had a good size to them and the texture was fairly crispy too which is something I always look for in my wings. For someone who's consumed an ungodly amount of chicken wings in the Buffalo area it's hard to live up to that standard and expectation. That doesn't mean I'm saying their wings are bad. Just not as good as some I've had in Buffalo. My Dave Portnoy score is a 7.4.Parking: Free street parking. It can be a bit difficult to find a spot on a busy day.“

“I'm always hyper critical of bars and typically only rate bars on amazing experiences or terrible experiences. I'm a huge speakeasy, prohibition era, whiskey bar kind of guy. I love the classic cocktails as they never fail when made right. I'm also a huge mixology fan, though most places miss the mark. That being said, this bar does everything you can do right, and I'll break my review down into multiple sections, as one paragraph is not enough to describe how great of an experience I had here.Atmosphere: The moment I walked in with friends, I knew it was going to be a great spot. They have a lot of classic video game references and old arcade machines. The name "Three Lives" references that as well. It's a small establishment that does so much with the room they have. All of the food and drinks are references to video games, which makes it a better experience.Staff: Every staff member was friendly and welcoming. My group had great conversations with them all about our favorite video games, series, and consoles. It was like talking to people who you grew up playing the same games with. It was a very nostalgic experience to reminisce over the great games created. They were professional the entire time, joked with us, made us laugh, and carried great conversations. I have to give the bartender/mixologist her own highlight. She was an absolute artist with her craft of creating cocktails. She was able to make most of the classics with ease and created her own cocktails that had amazing flavor profiles and spunk towards the bars theme. She was super knowledgeable about mixology as well, which thoroughly impressed me. Like I said previously, she has mastered her craft, and I'm excited to try more of her cocktail creations.Mixology Ingredients: The bar has an average selection of ingredients and spirits, yet they maximize the creativity they can with those ingredients. All of the cocktails are video game based and actually look like what they are referencing. It's such a niche experience you have to experience firsthand. I asked the aforementioned bartender if they had green chartreuse (a rare spirit that I love), and even though they did not, she knew what it was, and we had a great conversation about it. There's some off the menu items you can ask for that make the experience even better.Food: The food is also video game themed and creative as well. I enjoyed my tater tot appetizer. It enhanced the bar experience for me. I can't say too much as I only had the one appetizer, but I'd love to try more items.Events: The bartender invited us to a future emo night event that me and my friends and I will attend. She let us try the cocktails on the list for that night, and they were amazing. Can't wait to have them again. They also have a "Roll for a shot" that is a great experience overall. I enjoyed all the creative shots I rolled for, as did my friends. The shots are just as well thought out as the cocktails and taste great.Overall, it was an amazing experience. I can't wait to go back. I wish I lived closer to the bar.“

Bosco's Village Pub Bar • $$

“This place from the outside -especially at night- looks like a hyper local dive bar. This is to say, local to the folks who can walk to it. Inside, it's surprisingly nice, well lit, cheery even. “I’m writing this responding to a poor review. First of all, this is a neighborhood bar. Some might call it a dive bar, and if you’re the kind of person who understands how neighborhood bars work, then you know that you want certain things from that bar.Guilfoil’s is a gem. You walk in and find a spot. You wait your turn at the bar, and maybe that takes a few minutes. You pay cash because that saves money. The beer is cold and cheap, the whiskey pours are generous and cheap, the food is tasty and cheap. The jukebox plays the widest variety of music and nobody complains when you play your favorite song. There are sports on the TVs, and maybe a dog at your feet looking for a treat. This is exactly what an Irish pub is like. If you’ve traveled, either in the US or Ireland, you know that the Irish pub is a refuge, but not for the persnickety. It’s on its own time, and in its own place. You adjust to the Irish pub because you know that’s how it should be.I go to Guilfoil’s because they are happy to provide that brief respite from the rat race. It’s a slower pace, but that’s what I want when I’m there. People are friendly when you talk genuinely with them and who could ever want more from a pub?“

We had lots of family in town for a funeral and decided to do an impromptu lunch before everyone headed out of town. We did not make reservations we had not idea who was showing up and the party kept growing. They accommodated our party of 20 with ease. Beverages remained full all meals came out hot and fresh. I do not think a lot of places could pull this off. Our server was very attentive. We tried most of the menu within our group the favorites were the pastrami sandwich on pretzel roll, Shepard pie, bee o'flannery and the open faced Ruben. Salads were also huge and full of flavor. “This place is awesome. I was here around 5PM on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded at all. The bartender was amazing. He asked us what we liked and what we didn't like and made each of us our own individual cocktails. They were all great. Outstanding service. Outstanding selection of liquor - they have EVERYTHING - including Pappy. The ambiance was electric. Old school, leather couches, dimly lit, with a pool table around back. Just an awesome place to grab a drink or several. If you don't like crowds, I'd suggest going a little earlier in your night because I was told by the bartender and a couple that walked in that it can get very crowded later at night.
