After looking at the top breakfast joints in the city I landed on this one! I was gonna ask two ladies entering the building before me if the food was good but I didn’t. I didn’t need to! The moment I hit the door I could smell the good cooking!

It’s kind of a hole in the wall with what looks like a store front, on a mini strip plaza. My server, Emily, gave me the run down on the menu and I chose her recommendation and it was as she described - in short, DELICIOUS!

The food came out QUICK and cooked very good.

Will definitely try this place again when I come back to Cleveland“

All I can say is, wow! not only did the place look great but, the service was awesome and the food was really good. Karen, the women working the bar was an absolute sweetheart. She was very warm and welcoming. Karen whipped us up some really tasty holiday drinks. We highly recommend the Tipsy Santa.“

“My first visit was a resounding success! I ordered the fish sandwich and fries along with an order of soul rolls. The fish was delicious and I was really full from it, but I had to bite into one of the soul rolls. Before I knew it, I had ate half of it and I knew I was full already. “Haven’t been to JT’s Diner for about two years. Thought we’d give it a try as we remembered it being good at their previous location. We were very disappointed in our breakfasts. My crisp bacon was burnt to a crisp with burnt taste upon first bite. Our home fries used to be excellent “sliced” potato’s, but yesterday came as mush and the scrambled eggs were not even cut….just folded like an omelet. Coffee was good and hot, as in the past. For $20.53 I expected better. Don’t think I would return.“

Moved to CLE from the dirty south and had the hardest time finding good food up here. Then I found Calypso's. They got the flavor, the spices, aaaaaaallll the sauce, and the sweetest employees. As someone who loves good food, finding a hidden gem in a city you already enjoy visiting is always a treat. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between upscale and welcoming. I ended up sitting on the patio, which made for a fantastic evening.

Nicole was my server, and she was outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without ever being overbearing. She took the time to answer questions about the menu and made several recommendations that absolutely elevated the experience. Her suggestion to start with the octopus appetizer was spot on. It was one of the best appetizers I’ve had in a very long time.

For the main course, I ordered the hanger steak with chimichurri, and it was exceptional. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and one of those meals that has you planning your next visit before you’ve even finished the first one.

What really stood out was how well everything came together. Great atmosphere, incredible food, and service that genuinely made the experience memorable. Nicole did an excellent job, and her recommendations were a big part of what made the evening so enjoyable.

Five stars hardly feels adequate. The Standard delivered one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time, and I’ll absolutely be back.“
