Unlike the gloppy mess of Detroit Coney sauce, the sauce at Ideal is more meaty and nearly dry, more like a taco meat.The hot dogs are on the smaller side, which makes for a more balanced hot dog. “I came here with my son, daughter, and fiance the other day....There was 1 cook and 1 server, and they did an AMAZING JOB at greeting us, taking our order, and making our food fresh and delicious:) they did what restaurants even with 5 cooks and 6 servers couldn't do..... “We saw this place on our way to a bar and wanted to check it out. We stepped in and realized it was a music venue too! We came in early enough to get in without cover, but the space is really nice and has pinball machines. I'll have to come back when they have a band on because I bet this place gets packed. Really cool spot!“

“Whenever I visit Toledo, I have been a little sad that I could no longer have a chili dog from my favorite hot dog place since I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease about 20 years ago . On Eclipse Monday the staff made it possible for me to enjoy Rudy’s once again by making two loaded chili dogs using my unopened package of Schars hot dog buns. I was in Heaven!!! “I was surprised that this place is open in February. I went and got a couple of chili dogs for lunch. Netty(s) has the best chili dogs in town. I wish they had French fries. I was working next door where a new Laundromat will be opening soon. These places are located directly across from the University of Toledo. So, go wash some clothes and enjoy some dogs!“

“Eating at Rudy's is a childhood memory I'll never forget. Every year we would drive to Toledo to visit family and see the Light Before Christmas at the zoo. We'd always end the evening with a trip to Rudy's. It's been about 15 years since I've eaten there but today it was just as good as I remember. The atmosphere is like taking a trip back in time. Everyone was friendly and very helpful despite it being obvious we didn't know how to move through the ordering process. You grab your tray and utensils at the door then your items are handed to you as you move through the line. The prices were still very reasonable and the food was just as delicious as I remember. I highly recommend staying classic and getting a chili cheese dog with everything and fries. My fiance ordered a cup of chili as well and loved the unique flavor. Their menu has expanded too with greek food, chicken and including all day breakfast. Pie slices on display in a dessert cooler seems to still be a staple. Although the wait is very short, there is a drive through if you don't want to dine in. Highly recommend.Photo is their serving tray. They don't actually sell them, but we bought it for $20. It means a lot to us.“

The prices were reasonable, and the food was great. The atmosphere and decor are classic. Be sure to take a quick walk around to see the whole place before you leave.“
