We started with their bruschetta, four piece... very nice... and not just toast with olive oil and chopped tomatoes... try it. My better half had their Battered fish and chips... looked good and we'll presented. She didn't offer me a mouthful to try... so that speaks volumes. I opted for the Chicken Marsala... very well cooked... tender and we'll plated... sauce was tasty and plenty of it. Good sized portions and roughly $55 per each of us... that included a bottle of wine a beer and a whisky... a double shot. I'd go back... and if you haven't been, then go.“

Wow we sent our compliments to the chef, everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. “Chef Erika Rapp never disappoints and every visit to this wonderful restaurant reaffirms it as my favorite place for our Anniversary dinner. I look forward to the coconut, chorizo and sweet potato steamed muscles that she has had on the fall menu consistently for the last 5 years. And being Gluten Free the care Chef Erika takes to offer many delicious options, means I can always find the perfect meal. Last night the fish dish was perfection, from the perfectly cooked cod, to the savory and slightly sweet delicata squash puree to the textural elements of the crisp broccolini and the crunch of the pomagranate and pepitas. And the dish paired wonderfully with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. After enjoying a basket of gluten free pop-overs (another favorite treat) and appetizers I was stuffed, but the dish was too delicious to leave even one bite on the plate. Our server Miranda was fabulous. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and added so much to our dining experience. I highly reccommend.“

“Jefferson Express is a great place to eat breakfast it’s located in Toledo, Ohio. The food is very good, the service is great and the atmosphere is nice and friendly. My hat off to the cook. The owner’s and waitress are very friendly and welcoming. If you are ever in town. I do recommend to try it out, please don’t let the outside of the place stop you from going inside to get a great meal. Once you are on the inside you will forget about the outside because the food is delicious and you don’t want to miss out on a great meal.“

“Visited 8/18/26 and It has been about 15 years ago since I have been here. They use to have roasted garlic for the bread which I was excited but found that no longer do that. Please put that back in the menu! I had the bone in filet with butter bone maro crusted with parley potato's and French Onion soup! Shared shrimp cocktail. Had two Barrel aged Manhattans, house merlot with the steak and finished with a shared chocolate bag and an Elmer T Lee bourbon! I wanted to lick the bowls and plates! It was sooo good! I will not wait another 15 years before I return! Please consider bringing back the roasted garlic!“

“The only negative I can say is this place used to have a Veteran discount. When they received a new POS or point of sale system, they said they could not figure how to add it in again. That was a weak answer. I wish they were honest and would just say, “No, we are not extending the Vet discount any longer.” I don’t feel they have to do it, but the lying was an issue and kept me away for a while. Otherwise, top notch in all other aspects minus honesty. Been going here for years.“

“I had them drain the meat before putting it on the chili mac and it has greatly improved the taste. Before that I would spend a ton of time on the toilet. The same goes for their chili dogs. “I just had them for the first time and it was incredible! Even the mashed potatoes were good, which, in my opinion, can't be said about ordinary takeout. This chicken tastes just like the kind I used to get at a place that closed called, "Woody's Just Chicken." I remember trying to order one day after work only to find that they closed permanently and I was really sad. Anyways, whether or not these are the same people, the food here is incredible. “Hands down, my favorite restaurant ever. You just can't go wrong with a Big Boy, with tarter sauce on it, and a side of crispy fries. I have ordered the same thing every time since I was a kid. If I see a Big Boy while out doing things, I make it a point to stop in for a bite. They never disappoint. The service is always fast and friendly, and the prices are right!

“I went on a Wednesday, they had music trivia, Name That Tune going. It was so much fun! The food was great! I had the Paddy Pattie and fries. The sandwich was grilled nicely, the burger patty was perfectly medium, and the fries were well seasoned and cooked just right. I will definitely be back!“

“We visited on a Monday in mid-April 2025 for lunch.

This was a typical zoo restaurant. It's a grab and go. There are prepared foods on the side, both hot and cold. There are customizable stuff behind the counter and made to order. Expect it to be overpriced.

The loaded mac and cheese wasn't bad. The young lady behind the counter was making it for us when an older man (who I assume to be a manager) walked by and told her she was putting TOO much toppings in the mac and cheese so she stopped mid scoop with the bacon.

We got chicken tenders and fries which were both fine. We also got the prepared cobb salad. The lettuce on top looked fine but once we opened it and dug deeper, the lettuce were the harder and thicker stalks and more discolored. We still ate it because we were hungry but it did not look super fresh or maybe the salad sat too long in the back before packing it.

We also got the chocolate pudding and the jello. We all agreed the gummy worms in the chocolate pudding had a weird taste and off putting. The texture was also strange and unfortunately a lot of the flavor had leached into the pudding. The jello however was fine and those gummies were normal.

Condiments you grab on your own, self serve.

Cashier was nice and asked if we had membership, which we did and gave us the additional discount. It's nice when they ask because I forget sometimes with all the craziness going on.

The restaurant it self wasn't packed but there were 4 or 5 other groups in there with us. The place also was very clean and new looking. Not sure when this placed opened or renovated but it was very clean and modern. There are no tables to eat inside so we went outside to find a seat. There were no tables in the Kid's play place or neighborhood area so we walked around to where the hippo statues were to eat.

Even though the zoo website says no outside food, we were never searched and I swear almost EVERYONE we saw at the picnic tables had brought food in. Maybe it was locals who knew vs tourist. You can always leave and eat food in your car but it's just so inconvenient.“
