“Today we tried Golden China Express for the first time. We loved Hunan Lion, but it has been closed so long after a terrible fire. Golden China Express is very much nearby for us, but we didn't know what to expect.\nWe could not have been more pleased. The Lo Mein and War Sue Gai were delicious and with generous portions. We split a large WonTon Soup which was also delicious.\nIt was a rather large order, as we included friends, and enjoyed the meal together. The online order was easy to complete and it was ready for pickup when promised. There were absolutely no mistakes in the order and we were all pleased with the taste of all the menu items. “Sauces and flavors are spot on. I like almost everything on the menu. I have tried a few of the traditional dishes I wasn’t a huge fan of its usually the pork ones but that’s just me. I always do takeout I enjoy eating at home. Regardless that food is good and the gentleman at the counter has always been kind. 100% recommend!“

“We have been enjoying this restaurant for a couple of years, dining in and introducing friends to the delicious food. Yesterday was the first time we got delivery. We were hosting a Chinese New Year Feast. We ordered our favorites: wontons in chili sauce, wok fired green beans, eggplant in garlic sauce, shrimp fried rice, and sesame chicken. The dishes were all excellent and delicious with generous portions. Our friends ate very well and complimented everything. “I met a friend here for dinner. Our meet up was for 6 but I arrived a few minutes early and sat at the bar. Luckily for me I had 7 minutes left for happy hour. I ordered my cocktail ( blackberry bourbon)and theirs as well with spring rolls, crab ragoon wontons, rice, California roll and lettuce wraps. Service was quick and the food and atmospheric was great! The happy hour prices are some of the best for the portion sizes and the wait staff was very pleasant. “I have never felt compelled to leave a review until this place. Ordered the pan seared potstickers and the Dan Dan Hand Stretched Noodles. I am fortunate enough to travel around the world for my work and I can genuinely say this is the most complex and flavorful noodle dish I have ever eaten regardless of restaurant or country. The sesame paste they use in the base gives the most rich umami flavor to go with the wonderfully seasoned beef. The hand stretched noodles have truly perfect tooth to them as well giving a very hearty feel to the dish! I could not recommend this place enough! “I’ve been eating here for over 15 years, which makes me sad to say that out loud and makes me feel old, but out of those 15 years, I can say they’ve been consistent, and they maybe have made a mistake once maybe twice in that time. Like I swear he’s outside the door with our food as soon as I hit the place order button, it is awesome. “Hands down the best Chinese food in the Columbus area. You can order anything from here and you won’t be disappointed. My personal favorite is the spicy wings with green onions. I give them 4/5 stars. I would give 5, but they are a little stingy with sauces and when you ask for more they just give you one more and you don’t want to keep asking for more, so you leave with less sauce than you want lol. But overall, highly recommended.“

“The food is always done within 10-15 minutes of us ordering. They're good at taking orders over the phone, and polite when we go in to pick it up. The order is never incorrect, no matter what we end up getting. I absolutely love this place because the food is always consistently good and fresh. “I ordered Kung Pao Chicken for lunch. It was a beautiful combination of fresh and bright vegetables with juicy pieces of chicken. It Had the right amount of kick and the sauce was so flavorful. My favorite part of kung pao is the peanuts that help counter act the spiciness. Which grand china did not disappoint me and had a nice amount of peanuts in the dish! I also loved they used zucchini in this dish it was superb. Lunch is fairly priced at $7 a combination. I will be back to try more dishes !

April 2026 update

I tried their HUGE JUICY FRIED WINGS , were picked up on a Friday night while at the bar few doors down. Super impressed with the flavor, crispiness and size of theses wings. I already loved the traditional Chinese takeout from here and now I have to start picking up these bug juicy wings!

I do think you guys should offer some sweet n sour or even a house sauce to sell along side it too. It would have been a huge hit with the girls! They were kinda mad I had no sauce.“

“Was in Columbus for a concert and I walked a few blocks here for dinner. I didn’t see sweet and sour shrimp on the menu (only chicken & pork) and asked if they served it. They whipped me up an off-menu speciality on the spot. And it was terrific! Huge shrimp in a delicious sauce, big chunks of green pepper, etc. Their egg rolls were also nice and crunchy which I love and that seems to be harder to find anymore at places I try. The woman working was watching soap operas or something at full volume but I had earbuds in and was too distracted by the tasty meal to mind. My absolute favorite place in Columbus been going there since I was about 11 years old and I’m 39 now Family goes there. My children have grown up loving it don’t get it wrong. “We went to the Ace of Cups to watch a performance by Galactic Empire yesterday and we're hungry so we went across the street to Northeast Chinese restaurant. This little hidden spot for most folks turned out to be some of the best Chinese food that I have eaten in my life and I have eaten Chinese food all over the world. The portions are huge, the price is good and the staff very friendly. I recommended anybody traveling through Columbus that might want some good Chinese food, to look this place up and go there and eat.“

We were surprised that the place had been closed for quite some time as it was our go-to place for Chinese takeout. It has been a staple for Marcus theatre area for many many years. It finally reopened under new ownership, but no sign.

The owner was there to greet us and show us the menu. Very nice guy and felt welcomed. We ordered the orange chicken, bokchoy dish, and chicken egg roll. Food was hot and the bokchoy was our favorite dish. Orange chicken wasn't the best but wasn't bad either (would get again). My only gripe is that the prices are similar to a sit-down full-service restaurant and not your typical take-out Chinese food prices. While I would love to come here again the price is way too high for us as we like to go get a quick meal before a movie, etc. I get it the prices need to be adjusted to match inflation/food costs but the price point before new ownership was so good.

All in all, I do want to try the other dishes as the food was good but it won't be on a regular basis as the prices are not competitive with traditional TOGO Chinese places.

PRE new ownership - Food is good and consistent, service is always great. The place could do for a make over as the place seems like it has stayed the same for many many years. But on that note, the prices are super cheap.“
