“The service was friendly and the restaurant is very clean. The Big Mary sandwich is really good but now really small. A few years ago it was 50% bigger. Now it's more like a McChicken but with better meat. Looks like it's been affected by shrinkflation like many other things.“

“We visited this location for lunch today and found it to be fairly quiet and not very busy. We ordered two chicken sandwiches along with a chicken box meal that came with wedges.

The chicken was fresh, juicy, and pleasantly non-greasy, which sets it apart from many other fried chicken places. The sandwiches were good overall, though a bit more seasoning or flavor would have made them even better.

The chicken box included three pieces of chicken and wedges, and both were served fresh and hot. The wedges were especially impressive—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and cooked perfectly.

The service was really fast and friendly. Parking is also free as the plaza has free parking.

Overall, the food was enjoyable, the quality was solid, and everything tasted fresh. While there is some room for improvement in the sandwich flavor, this is a good option for fresh fried chicken and delicious wedges.“

“I've been to a few Mary Brown's locations and I can say, without a doubt, that this is my favourite location. The taters are always done perfectly. Tried their apple pie for the first time today and it was yummy. Made to order unlike other fast food places that pre make them and keep them heated. Consistently great food and service here. Gagan & Harjot are so very nice and fun to chat with. Highly recommend this location.“

Anyhow I chose this location because the girl here was nice to me before. I wanted to see her again she said she was from north India. This time around she decided to stay in the office and send some random guy out to service me (the same one who can't figure out what a daily special is). Even though I sat there and ate my wings she never once came out as though she was scorning. At first I thought she set him up to piss me off then I realized it was most likely karma the guy at the grocery store charged me 25 cents less than he should have for my cookie at first I thought it was a good gesture but then I realized no good deed goes unpunished and something would happen to balance it out so them charging me me a bit extra was just karma, you win some and you lose some. “May 2026 update: overall atmosphere and service is the same. However I've had to reduce my rating of the food to 3 stars. I'm not sure if the oil used now to fry the chicken and fries is old or a bit stale but my throat is not happy after eating our meal. Ive been to other places that used old oil and the same thing happened as well. The chicken overall also felt drier, not the same quality experience I had when I first went there.

Original review: I can't believe I've waited this long to do a review on this Mary Brown's location. Of course, Mary Brown's makes fried chicken. We know that. However, one thing I've come to realize is that not all franchises are created equally. I've been to other locations where the chicken feels greasy or ones where I'm convinced the oil is old and the chicken tastes subpar. That is not the case with this Mary Brown's location. I've been quite a few times now and each time, I'm completely satisfied with the quality of the fried chicken. The chicken is made well, it's crispy, flavourful (and not too salty) and moist without being oily or greasy. Dare I say, this chicken makes me happy!

On top of it all, you have to try their taters. Coated and seasoned, the family likes to dip them in gravy and ketchup but I personally love their poutine drenched in gravy and cheese turds. The gravy is rich, savory, and a perfect complement for these taters.

Located close to Chester subway station, this Mary Brown's Chicken on the Danforth also has a patio that can be enjoyed in the warmer months. Staff at this location are pleasant, professional, and friendly. This is one Mary Brown's location is one I plan to continue to visit!“

“Stopped in to satisfy a fried chicken craving. Ended up getting a fired chicken and jerk chicken half n half combo on beans and rice. Serving was good size for $22. The chicken was lovely and moist with great flavours. They added a sweet kind of plum sauce with the fried chicken. Haven't seen that before but loved it! “Ok. Here we go. This was my first visit to this Popeyes location and I will say it wasn't the worst and it wasn't the best.
1. I saw the special they were offering on my phone and drove to this location to place my order since its not too far away. When I arrived I saw a poster of the special on the wall which was $10 more than advertised on the phone ad. I asked why it was $10 more in-store???? I was told thats only for online orders which was NOT stated in the advertisement. I was then told that in order to receive the discount I had to download the app and order it from there!!!!!! I WAS RIGHT THERE in front of them! What's up with that????? Such foolishness. I should have been able to just pay the price of the special without downloading the darn app. Since then I have deleted the app again because I always go in person. This is not fair to those of us who actually go and wait for our chicken. I love my chicken to be HOT & FRESH, not sitting in a bag on the counter until I arrive to pick it up. POPEYES, Pay attention, your in store customers should not be penalized that $10 discount because we don't order online. 🤔
Now on to the food! 😁
Unfortunately I had to take the last 9 pieces of chicken or wait another 20 minutes for fresh, which is what I should have done.
It was ok, but not as crispy and juicy as I usually get it. When it's hot and fresh it's second only to Mary Brown's when theirs are hot and fresh!
So the lady packed up the 9 pieces of chicken put them in a box, laid them on the warmer, and I asked her are the fries nice and crispy and fresh? She gave me one to try and they were!!!! However, here the kicker, she loaded up the box of fries, put them next to the chicken on the warmer, and went to the back!!!! I see my order waiting there, waiting, waiting, so long I had to ask the guy there, whats taking so long? My order is therei n front of me getting cold!!! Apparently there were no fresh biscuits ready and she had to go back to make them, lol. By the time she got back, my fries were now not hot and fresh, and I noticed instead of giving me the 5 FRESH HOT biscuits she just brought out, the guy gave me 4 stale biscuits and 1 fresh one. Easy to tell which is which when biting into them.
Slow service is not good. All of this should have been prepared and ready to go.
In closing, I will say, that Popeye's is a nice alternative to Mary Brown's which I normally buy, but with inconsistencies like this from various locations, thats a great way to turn off customers from ordering your Chicken.
A SPECIAL SHOULD BE A SPECIAL, ONLINE OR NOT.

“Hands down, one of the best fried chicken places -- and it's HALAL!
Every meal is made fresh, to order so there is a bit of a wait but I prefer freshly fried chicken anyway. Juicy on the inside, crunchy on the outside.

We ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, chicken fries, flaming fries and the fresh cucumber fries. The cucumber fries was interesting but was tastier the more you ate it! Would definetly be back!!
