“This is our favourite fish and chips restaurant. The service is excellent and the food is always hot and delicious. They have some nice cold beer to go with your meal. Even if there is a line up, we have never waited longer than 15 minutes. Worth the wait.“

They also don’t skimp and use potatoes as filler….there is literally chicken in every bite! I’ve been here like 5 or 6 times and it has been consistent and delicious. Also the staff is so friendly and love the no nonsense atmosphere. Always a stop for me when I’m visiting Toronto.“

The woman behind the counter generously gave us our meals free of charge. This rarely happens in our world anymore. “I went for a quick meal in mid-afternoon. I had the lamb and chicken combo which came with a side of green salad and rice. I chose not to have the rice. To my surprise I was I was charged less than what the price stated on the menu. The chicken and the lamb were both tender and spiced just right. I was very impressed by the quality of the food - fresh, clean and very tasty. For a quick and inexpensive meal, I highly recommend Afghan Cuisine on Overlea Blvd.“

Got the combo deal of two pieces of fried chicken, one pizza slice (you can choose any you want, not just the basic cheese or pepperoni), and one pop for less than what combos cost at fast food spots. The chicken was pretty good with its crackling skin and juicy meat. The pizza could have used a bit more zing in its taste but had a nice chewy crust.

Space is clean and has some tables for dine-in. Menu is pretty extensive. Owner is nice. This is definitely a good spot that your wallet will love.“

“I walked into this quaint Chinese food restaurant and was immediately teleported to the 80’s and 90’s. Not sure how i missed this gem, living in Leaside for a few years now. Even the prices are from the past. Food is great, with proper flavouring and consistency. I asked the lady who took my order how long this place has been here, and was astonished to learn since 1957! My new go to Chinese food. Love it!“

“This is a gem. The owner, Fen, serves you and she's very warm, friendly and accommodating. I'm the kind of patron servers try to avoid because I always want to switch ingredients. Only broccoli and mushroom with my bean curd? No problem! Normally a place will just leave out the other ingredients and not compensate for their absence, but clearly, as the photo shows, it's not how they operate here.

Most of their business is take out, so the place has been exceptionally quiet every time I've come, which is nice. The menu is well organized and easy to navigate.

The pricing is very reasonable and the portions are quite large, but on top of everything the food texture is appropriately firm (not mushy, like some places... You actually need to chew your broccoli here!) and the flavor is excellent.“

“If we are not making our vegan pizza at home, we get it from Pizza Nova, and have ordered from many different locations. It's very often hit and miss. Sometimes it's great, and sometimes it's horrible. Not for Leaside, however. Every time we have ordered from there, the pizza is great, crust was crunchy, sauce was good, and the toppings fresh; the store is clean, and the staff is super-friendly.
