“I really like the boiled fish here. The black fish fillets are very tender and have no fishy smell. The grilled fish is Qingjiang fish, which I also like. It will taste better if cooked for a while. Other dishes also taste good. I will be a regular customer here. I am satisfied.“

“Ambiance makes you feel like you're in the 1960s, but not run down. Clean, small place that makes excellent crispy and fresh halibut fish. Their fries are homemade and not too salty, crispy on the outside and soft inside. Family run, 1 server, 1 cook, and really friendly service.“

“One of the best fish & chips I’ve ever had.
Crust is just thick enough and the right amount of crisp without too much oil.
If I had to pick out one thing, it would be the mess on the table when we sat down although I would gladly overlook this.“

“We ordered the chicken souvlaki, rice, potatoes, and Greek salad for our Mom's 92nd birthday party. We were a family group of 15 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. It was plentiful, delicious, the salad was nice and fresh, the chicken was so good. I will definitely be back and so will the family. Lili and her son, Junior were very nice to deal with, lovely people. Thank you for making our day extra special!“

“Hidden gem for some AMAZING fish and chips run by a mom and pop duo at Peanut Plaza for ages. It’s our go to place when we are craving some really good old fashioned fish and chips :)
We got the daily special fish and chips combo. It’s $11 with tax (see picture). A steal to find and definitely worth it since it will put you into a good food coma afterwards.
The daily special fish and chips combo comes with a good sized haddock fish, lots of crispy chips, choice of coleslaw or gravy, and a pop. The haddock is awesome. It’s nicely battered to make it crispy on the outside while maintaining that nice flaky fish goodness on the inside. Also, the gravy is a must. It goes so good with the crispy chips.
Heads up, limited seating. It’s more of a take out fish and chips shop.“

“Called in for a takeout order, been wanting to try this place out as my other usual place had closed down. Gentlemen on the phone was very polite and provided pricing and answers to my questions. 15 mins for pick up and was ready beforehand which was nice. Atmosphere is fitting for a fish and chio place not sure what others are expecting. Ordered the halibut meal for 2 + order of scallops. The meal came with an order of chips decent sized with 4 packets of tartar sauce. The halibut was a good size with not a lot of batter it was the same size of the fish. I'll definitely be back when the craving strikes again.“

“Pretty good take out spot for fish n chips! The interior is a little old, but doesn’t matter because it’s a take out spot anyway! Very friendly service/owner and the fish and chips are great! There are 2 spots inside if you’d like to eat in, but I think it’s meant to be a take out spot.I got the halibut fish and chips and enjoyed it. Would get it again if in the area again!“

“Just had their Greek chicken souvlaki with rice and salad and I was actually surprised at how delicious it was coming from a fish house. The rest of my party had the fish and chips of various varieties and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and were full and it was cooked to perfection.“

“Had breakfast which was ok. But the girl serving us was incredible, she did cash, server, cleaned up and checked up on us...and was polite....she deserves a raise ! Only downside is the dinning area looks quite drab, it needs some colour and change the white industrial lights to soft yellow home style lighting.“

“Happy 40th!
Went for a late lunch and just missed the time for lunch specials. So instead, we ordered Halibut & chips a la carte, with a side of gravy. Good stuff!
Restaurant has a cute takeout window. Inside is a very cozy ambiance, with a few old golf clubs as decoration.
The girlfriend can’t wait to go back!“

“I tried the Australian Wagyu sliders. For $9, you can get three sliders. Just try one bite and you'll see how they did not cheap out on the quality.
Next, I tried the Chicken sandwich. they were so huge for $7. What's even better, add $2, you can get fries and a drink with it.
Lastly, their Classic Jack was impressive. The owner really source their patties from the best.
I tried their strawberry and chocolate milkshakes too. Both were good but chocolate was the winner for me.“

“This place is pretty impressive. The food is prepared better than most breakfast places
The price was very reasonable. The service is excellent and the place is so clean I couldn't even believe it. I am usually complaining about the washrooms. Restaurant washrooms are never clean, unless it's a high end place. But I was impressed. We will.100% return.
I cant wait to try the fish and chips. I hope it tastes just as good.“

“I don't think it's fair to give this place low ratings for not meeting the superb standard that was set by the previous owner. This place is not a franchise.
I went for dinner on late Sunday night. The restaurant looks old and not very well lit. As other reviewers have mentioned, the restaurant is run by only one staff. He tried to make my dining experience comfortable: offering counters with a wider seatings and turned on additional lights while I read the menu.
I ordered the halibut fish and chips, and the fried fish checks all the boxes. It is not dry, flaky, not over-battered, and have fair portion size. Fries can get a bit dry after a few minutes, but I was allowed to use as much condiments as I desired with the large squeeze bottle. The tartar sauce is standard to
the majority's taste bud - not overly sour or sweet.
Sure this place may no longer be the "hidden gem" or "the local's favourite", but it still has its own charm and imperfection like any locally own restaurant. It offers budget option (the lunch size halibut) which are all under $20. It runs from 7am to 9pm everyday. It is halal friendly. The dining area is rustic but good for those who wants to have a quick yet decent meal without sitting among the crowd (something that seems harder to avoid in Markham as times goes on).
I will eat here again whenever I get a craving for fish and chips.“

“Dinner style fish & chip place.
Offers all manner of fish like cod, halibut, haddock (my fav) and even salmon. Perfect amount of batter, so you can actually taste the meat. The portions are bang on, even though my greedy side wishes the piece was even bigger.
They get the fries right too. Slightly thicker than the usual fast food place.
My real only complaint is they insist on giving you and rationing the tarter sauce into these numbered packets. If only they just had the bottle on the table like they do with the vinegar and ketchup, the place would be tops!
As it is, we have ourselves a good value for money local joint, with fast and friendly service (clean too). I recommend trying it out.“
