“The interior design is done beautifully with lots of unique decors like posters, cherry blossoms, very modern yet also traditional, lots of greens as well to look at. The seating areas is clean and comfortable, and can accommodate many people. The food presentation is very pleasing to look at, and everything is provided for you immediately.
Their staff seems to be mostly Korean so if you can speak Korean you can. 서버는 한국어를 할 수 있습니다. Since they are Korean they are used to the Korean restaurant style so they may not come to your table too often but they are always looking at your tables, if you raise your hand they will come as soon as possible. (If its busy you can yell “jogiyo / 저기요”)
Overall this is a really nice restaurant to relax in and take in the atmosphere while enjoying some sushi.“

“This hidden gem sushi spot blew my mind! plump spot prawn sushi were divine—creamy, sweet, no fishy taste at all. The chef’s skilled hands crafted perfect bites, and the warm service made the meal even better. Affordable, cozy vibe—10/10, will definitely return!“

“Looking at the window I was asked if I wanted to see what they looked like as there was a display. I was sold when I did. The crab and the spicy beef one were SO good, Presentation was also beautiful. Quick and delicious grab and go snack. Spicy was my favorite!“

“Service is great and the price is reasonable, but the food quality isn't very good. It seems like the food was prepared a long time ago. The seaweed was sticky because it had been soaked with the rice for a long time. The sashimi had a lot of sticky fat between the meat, making it chewy.“

“I searched omakase online and saw this restaurant. Walking distance from Lawrence station and I decided to give it a try.
A little restaurant. 3 customers including me, only the chef is running around and serving us. No other staffs.
$115 for the omakase. The fish is very fresh and tasty. I also have wine pairing $36 for 4 glasses. The price is very reasonable for the omakase on Yonge Street.“

“If you're looking to have an intimate authentic experience this is it. Although my husband and I were the youngest couple by 10 years or so we were made to feel welcome. I appreciated the traditional service style and the food and beer were incredible.“

“Ordered delivery and it arrived super fast since it wasn’t peak time. Everything was packed really well and they were generous with the sauces.
The salmon was very fresh, and the yam roll was so good — the crunchy tempura bits inside gave it an amazing texture. I ordered the 213 set and loved that it came with salad and miso soup too, felt like a great value overall.
Will definitely order again!“

“Kawa Sushi is a great spot for fresh, delicious sushi at a reasonable price. The quality of the fish is excellent, and the presentation shows real attention to detail. I especially enjoyed their Philadelphia roll—it was perfectly made and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh, and for the price, it’s hard to beat. If you’re looking for solid sushi without spending a fortune, this place is definitely worth checking out!“

“Wow! I had never come across this little hidden gem. The sushi was exceptional - extremely fresh and tasty- despite the price point which is very reasonable. The place is small but charming and the owners and chef are just lovely. This is now going to be my go to sushi place going forward!!“

“Brought my daughter and a friend here in two separate occasions, and the food presentation, quality of sushi and the whole atmosphere are one of the best in town. It’s definitely a nice cozy place to enjoy such good meal from appetizer to main dish of sashimi or variety of sushi. I’ve ordered the lover’s salmon and yes, it’s bittersweet 🌸 a Japan 🇯🇵 experience that you’ll always treasure. Highly recommended this place 24/7 and savour every moment and don’t leave without having the green tea and mango ice cream as well. 💕✨🍵“

“The place is well managed, good service, reasonable prices, and a nice quiet patio. The quality of the food is not the best, understandably due to cheap meals. I never tasted salmon sashimi like the one I ordered there, it taste like plastic. Maybe it's just me, just give it a try, the place worth visiting ☺“

“Truly delicious sushi and sashimi (3-4 person platter) with great variety, served cooler than room temperature with rich flavour.
Service was self serve, for better or for worse. Less attention, no tips. Seat yourself like a common cafe. Not a lot of seats. They had a water dispenser with lemon/cucumber in it.
The place has nice decor, though looks a bit run down based on since the table was kind of sticky (even after cleaning) and had some parts worn away.“

“I’ve honestly lost count of how many times I’ve eaten at Kiyo, but it still surprises me every single time. If you’re looking for the best sushi spot in midtown, this is the place. Whether you dine in or grab takeout, the quality is always amazing.
PS: My girlfriend brought me takeout tonight and I swear there were sushi on the plate… but the aroma from the torched sushi set was too good. Next thing I knew, it was all gone. 😅🍣“

“I don’t love sushi that much, but my beautiful girlfriend does. She wanted sushi so we came here, and I liked the spicy salmon and avocado/salmon sushi pizza very much. She was also happy with the meal. See picture attached for a scrumptious morsel of sushi pizza that my girlfriend ate. 🍣🍕“

“I’ve been dining at Genji for a while now, and it never disappoints. The service is consistently excellent. The food is always fresh and beautifully prepared, with great quality in every dish. The staff are warm and welcoming. And for the quality you get, the prices are very reasonable. I always enjoy my time here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great sushi.“

“An unassuming spot on Yonge Street near Davisville. Small place, good food. If you like Korean and Japanese food this is an excellent place to eat at very affordable prices. I had the Super Bento Box and frankly I thought the price was low (no customer ever said that, but I did). My bill was $20 including tax (plus a generous tip). Now, this is not a fine dining Omakase restaurant, so must not compare to that, but for a good Japanese meal and very good value for money, stop by. I know I will go back.“

“I am celiac, which means I need to eat gluten free and avoid cross contamination. This restaurant (while not 100% gluten-free) definitely takes allergies seriously, with a separate fryer and cooking area for celiac requests. I love this sushi!! They make such unique rolls with fun flavours/textures. For two people, I would recommend getting a large platter (pictured below) which will allow you to try multiple rolls for only about $30 per person. Would definitely recommend this place, but be sure to call ahead for a reservation as it tends to get quite busy and they do not have a huge seating area.“

“I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down for a late afternoon lunch at Kami sushi! Sunny was delightful, respectful and very engaging to talk to. I had the lunch special 13 and i was very surprised but expected nothing less with the quality, freshness and presentation of my meal. The butterfish was soft and delicate, the tuna was tasty and the salmon was some of the freshest salmon I’ve ever had. In a world where restaurants are copy and paste from one another, Kami sushi separates themselves from the pack by making your experience special from the top down. I will be back and I can’t wait!“

“Ibet is a FANTASTIC restaurant and we're so thrilled to have it so close by. They're food is fresh, their prices are great and their staff is just amazing. We've had the chance to host a team dinner through them and they were just amazing with their service and large trays. Our staff regularly visits their location and are never disappointed with their time there.
Please visit this gem in the Bloordale area - definitely worth stopping in!“

“I absolutely love this place! The sushi and sashimi are top-notch for the area and price — thick, fresh, and incredibly flavorful. I even forgot to take a picture before diving in because it was that good. The Kaisen Don and Sashimi Trio are also amazing — seriously thick sashimi that melts in your mouth.
The store itself is clean, cozy, and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal. I’m definitely becoming a regular here, and this will be my go-to sushi spot in the neighborhood!“

“Happy hour menus have been making a comeback with the weakening economy. Planta’s menu is one of the most extensive and offers great value to boot. While beer and wine ring in at $6 and $9, respectively, it’s the $10 cocktails that wet my whistle. You can’t go wrong with the lych please, a gin cocktail lightly sweetened with lychee, lemon, and pineapple with a hibiscus sugar rim that delights.
Planta also provides a huge food offering that doesn’t skimp on portions. With the lettuce wraps ($12) being half off their regular menu price ($23), I expected a shrunken helping the equivalent to two or three wraps. So, when the full plate arrived with enough of the gochujang covered crispy fried tofu and roasted Brussels sprouts to make seven wraps we were flabbergasted. Oh no, we ordered way too much food!
The menu offers no description with the chick’n fried mushrooms ($7) but they turn out to be lightly battered oyster mushrooms that’s dusted with salt and pepper served with a thinned sweet chili sauce. They’re dangerously addictive and so tasty that I could swap these for a chicken nugget any day.
In a similar vein, the crust of the cauliflower wings ($8) was so crispy despite not being overly battered. Drizzles of unagi sauce and sweet chili mayo covered the vegetables giving each bite a burst of flavour.
For a lighter nibble, the summer rolls ($6) are an option. It’s just filled with a lot of carrot and rice noodles and needed more of the other ingredients (papaya, tofu, and herbs) to stand out.
The crispy rice ($9) would work better left intact, so the starch doesn’t become cold and dry. At least they put plenty of the spicy ahi watermelon and guacamole on top to balance out the tasteless rice ball.
I preferred the spicy crab hand roll ($5 each), which was stuffed to the gills with shredded hearts of palm tossed with ponzu and spicy mayo. It’s more of a taco than handroll so it isn’t the easiest to eat but does mean there’s little rice and tons of filling.
The sole dish that threw us both off was the spinach and artichoke dip ($11). How can you mess up a creamy dip? By adding so much coconut oil into the recipe that coconut was all we could taste. It felt like I was eating a savoury coconut cream pie with chunks of vegetables. Its only saving grace was they don’t skimp on the tortilla chips… too bad we didn’t need more than a few each.“

“Very good food, on Queen Street so close to Subway and Art/Opera - the price and value is outstanding.
One tip as I have started coming here more, the chef is creative so try their unusual things. Appetizers and specials are as delicious as they are artfully plated.“

“Had great takeout sushi from here, but they didn't pack the soy sauce! Normally it would be okay because I have soy sauce at home, but I was dropping it off at the hospital for my friend!!! He was very dismayed to eat the sushi without soy sauce but mentioned the quality was still good. Always gonna double check IF I come back.“

“We had a great experience here, and we were only there to pick up takeout food! The staff were friendly and engaging. We even had a great chat with the management. You can tell they really care about the neighbourhood and take pride in being part of it (so do we).
The food was excellent, fresh, and beautifully presented. The restaurant is spotless, and it’s clear the owners put a lot of care into keeping everything clean and welcoming.
We live in the area and will definitely be coming back often. It’s wonderful to have a great Japanese restaurant in the neighbourhood. We want this place to stay open for many years to come, so we highly recommend it. Enjoy!

“This is one of the best sushi places downtown.
The quality is consistently high — everything tastes incredibly fresh and full of flavor, and it really shows the moment you start eating.

That’s why every time I’m downtown, I make sure to come here. Highly recommended!“

“Best quality sushi in Riverdale. I usually get the same order from them and it has always been prepared fresh and tastefully done. The restaurant owner and her staff are very pleasant. All of my friends that I've brought here agreed that their food quality is top notch. Pricing is also good. It's not the cheapest in town but considering the quality I dont mind paying for it. The restaurant is small but the atmosphere is clean and cozy. There is also ample parking on Broadview ave during non rush hour times.“

“For a mall sushi its pretty good but for what its worth definitely an 8/10 and I like the “end of the day sale” which starts at 6pm part. Also rating service 5 because once my father used to work in the mall and one day I came to buy him a lunch and my dad mentioned to cashier and he gave us free water as goodwill. Anyways would definitely recommend this place.“

“Scallops and one piece of salmon is not very fresh, just on the line of edible. Since the salmon are fatty and the uni sashimi I have later is much better, the food here still worth four out of five overall. One little thing I need to mention is they don’t serve salads with the order like other sushi house nearby I went to.“
