“We discovered The Hearty Hooligan after our daughter was diagnosed with an dairy allergy. We now eat here once a week! The food is always consistent regardless of the day of the week or how busy they are. Our favourites are the pickle fries and pizza rolls, we’ve also enjoyed the Mac and Cheese Bake, Moe’s fries, Mac and Cheese burrito, Crunch wraps.. all delicious! We usually add on a dessert to our order which is almost always a punkaroo cookie! The cupcakes and cookies are always good too. The atmosphere is fun and inviting and the staff is always friendly and welcomes you like they’ve known you for years.“

“We cannot say enough about our experience at Pepe and Lela’s tonight. We almost cancelled because of the snow but thankfully we didn’t because it was one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. From start to finish, everything was perfect. The food is all house-made, authentic and absolutely delicious. Our server, Amanda was literally the best. She was friendly, engaging, funny, knowledgeable and so accommodating. “When I found out about Indonesian’s Flavour I was a bit hesitant but I tried their food and was surprised and happy that I did not have to travel far such as to Mississauga or Toronto to eat satay , nasi goreng or rendang , etc . It is all in the Hammer /Farmer’s market . Hamilton is lucky to have Indonesian cuisine , which can come to you mild or really spicy . …You just have to ask . I stopped in for the first time without knowing much about the place. I'm usually a Starbucks or Tim Hortons regular and stick to my goto which is a double-double (2 cream, 2 sugar). I explained my usual order and preferences, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful like they were making the coffee for themselves. Honestly, it was the best cup of coffee I've had. Better than Tim Hortons. Better than Starbucks. This place is a must try. Amazing coffee, delicious pastries, super reasonable prices, customer service is out of the world and top tier quality. A quick Google search led me to this spot, and Lord tunderin, I wasn't disappointed! The donair speaks for itself, so you should go in and get one. It had the exact right amount of donair meat, so much of that authentic donair sauce, the ingredients were fresh, and the service was friendly. “Berkeley North brings a creative, seasonal flair to downtown Hamilton, and while not every dish hit the mark, there’s enough promise here to warrant a return.

We opened with the Mushroom Dumplings — easily the highlight of the night. Rich, savory, and balanced with just the right kick from the chili oil, they’re a must-order (10/10). The Tuna Crudo followed with a refreshing citrus ponzu that brought the dish to life — light, clean, and enjoyable.

The Gnocchi, on the other hand, missed the mark for me. Despite the menu’s promise of roasted squash and pork, the dish lacked seasoning and came across bland (5/10). The Rainbow Trout helped bring things back with a well-cooked fillet, artful presentation, and a flavorful Aji Amarillo pepper sauce
simple, but satisfying.

We also added a side of fries, and they were surprisingly good crispy, well-seasoned, and perfect for sharing.

Service & Setting:
The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, with a kitchen that clearly values local ingredients and visual presentation. Service was smooth and professional throughout.

Final Take:
Berkeley North has undeniable potential. While one dish didn’t quite land, others truly delivered and I’ll be back to explore more of the menu. If the rest is anything like the dumplings, there’s a lot worth coming back for.“

“Took my 4 year old here for a P.A. day from school and he loved it. he has been asking to go back ever since. we played some great games, got some DND dice at a sweet price and a few miniatures to paint together at home.
