“Came out to celebrate my birthday with a friend last night and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was above par; we had the trout and steak which were both delicious. Our server, Nicole was attentive and well-versed, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring we always had what we needed. Despite the restaurant being very busy, we had an excellent seat in the booth which was very comfy and we really appreciated the atmosphere. We will be recommending this adorable spot and dining again in the near future!“

“We discovered The Hearty Hooligan after our daughter was diagnosed with an dairy allergy. We now eat here once a week! The food is always consistent regardless of the day of the week or how busy they are. Our favourites are the pickle fries and pizza rolls, we’ve also enjoyed the Mac and Cheese Bake, Moe’s fries, Mac and Cheese burrito, Crunch wraps.. all delicious! We usually add on a dessert to our order which is almost always a punkaroo cookie! The cupcakes and cookies are always good too. The atmosphere is fun and inviting and the staff is always friendly and welcomes you like they’ve known you for years.“

“Such a cool place to eat and chill at. The menu is awesome, you won't be disappointed no matter what you order (the mac and cheese is incredible, so is the pizza) and the drinks are really fun too! Love the touch of the pinball machines and the vhs decor throughout the restaurant. This is definitely in my top 5 best spots to eat in Hamilton. Even if you aren't vegan, you gotta try this spot asap.

“I ordered the half size ramen combo with gyoza and chicken karaage. I chose the jidori paitan miso flavour and it was so creamy and delicious! The chef even came out to ask how the food was. We really appreciated that and will definitely return. I like that they have half size soups so you can also get sides for a better price. They even work with a local farm. “I only get coffee and pastry here. Good quality for both. Visited many times so it's not a one time-visit review. Though prices are fair, not cheap. It looks like a good coffee in the southern Ontario area cost a lot these days. Well, what can we do, instead of daily visits it's going to be the only a once per week treat.“

“We took our dog there for her 1st birthday. This was also our first time going there. Great people, dogs and food. I ordered a western breakfast sandwich and it was made to perfection. Our dog really enjoyed the home made dog treats.

“We tried the Beef Shoyu Ramen, and wow—it was absolutely excellent! The broth was light yet flavorful, reminding me of the amazing ramen I had in Singapore. The balance of flavors was perfect, and the homemade spicy sauce was the cherry on the top.

If you’re looking for a place that serves authentic, high-quality ramen, Shiro Ramen is the spot. Probably the best ramen I had in Canada .The gyoza was also surprisingly good !

“I don’t live in Hamilton anymore and Café Oranje is one of the places I miss the most. All of the staff are so so so lovely and our conversations, although brief, would always brighten my day. The café itself is cozy and fun featuring vintage artwork of Hamilton. They have awesome food and drinks, with their matcha latte being my all time favourite. A true local Hamilton gem that you must try if you’re in town :)“

“I was in Hamilton for a concert with my family, and I'd always heard that Hamilton was the best place to find an authentic Maritime donair. A quick Google search led me to this spot, and Lord tunderin, I wasn't disappointed! The donair speaks for itself, so you should go in and get one. It had the exact right amount of donair meat, so much of that authentic donair sauce, the ingredients were fresh, and the service was friendly. It was inexpensive and honestly, it took me right back to having donairs when I lived home in Newfoundland. 100% recommend this place; you should check it out!“

“I drive past this place every day on my way to work so I decided to message them about getting a cake for my daughter’s birthday. I was absolutely blown away by not only the mouthwatering flavour of my cake but also the exceptional service that came along with it. It hasn’t even been 24 hours yet and I am still dreaming about this cake. It was that good. I have hired many different bakers to make my kids cakes over the years and ever have failed in comparison. “Took my 4 year old here for a P.A. day from school and he loved it. he has been asking to go back ever since. we played some great games, got some DND dice at a sweet price and a few miniatures to paint together at home. He enjoyed the milk and oreos and I the cold brews. Awesome place filled with awesome people, awesome games, awesome goodies, and sweet deals. Overall AWESOME! The staff was amazing special compliments to Jose and Mitch - very friendly when tho it's super busy and you come up with special requests.
Food was delicious (also I would have liked the option of salt and pepper at the table and not just on request. The wine glasses were magically full the whole dinner (4course menu) time.

“Wonderfully cozy yet a light and airy atmosphere that is unique in a great way. I've been here a few times and the food is delicious. I tend to gravitate toward the roasted vegetables sandwich. For some reason it tastes better when it's eaten at Synonym rather than to go. But worry not because there's plenty of seating and the decor (especially of the barista counter) is perfection. Well worth a visit, you'll be glad you did!“

“Incredibly delicious food, served up in generous portions. I was visiting in the Hamilton area and found the food so tasty, that I ate here three times in a week; twice for lunch, once for dinner. First visit: lunch: had the vegetarian dish/platter of hummos, eggplant, falafel, fried cauliflower, grilled tomatoes, and mushrooms, served with your choice of soup or any of the salads on the menu and dinner plate sized fresh pitas. I had the Greek salad, which was excellent and, again, a generous portion. This meal could easily have been shared with two people, especially for lunch. My lunch mate took half of her meal home and I took my left over hummos (at least a half a cup) and pita for an afternoon snack later. Second visit: dinner with a group of six: I started with lentil soup, then had the spicy lemon shrimp with pilaf style rice and served with pita bread. We shared the salads that came as starters; all were delicious: Greek, Fatoush, and Tabouli. Third visit: spicy lemon shrimp, but substituted hummos for the rice. Again, generous portion with at least two dozen shrimp. Nothing chintzy about this place. The service could be a little more attentive, especially for the second dinner, which was at around 3:30 p.m. and, as is often the case when a restaurant is almost empty, was not hurried by any means. I had told the waitress I was in a hurry, but that didn't seem to help. Had to track her down to make my order and then my bill never came, so I went to the counter to pay. The service was better during the busy lunch and dinner hour visits. Still the food is so worth it, that I would go here anytime I'm back in the area and would recommend it to anyone.“

“My favourite Cafe in town! Been going here for over 10 years, the treats are delicious and baked in house and the coffee is great. Personally I find their espresso to be the best I've had, always a perfect pull. Staff is the cherry on top, always kind, informative and serving with a smile. Very unique atmosphere.

“10/10- new owners took over and they are too nice! I work up the street at the hospital and theyll always stay open so i can call in an order for after my shift is done and pick it up! Not to mention offering us the left over slices on more than one occasion to take home for my kids… if you had a sub par experience there in the past give them another try, theyre under new ownership and definitely deserve the business because they go above and beyond and truly deserve it! “I can’t say enough good things about this Sunset. They make you feel right at home the minute you come to the door. I went with my husband and 4 kids (two of those kids are 7weeks old) and they were so accommodating with where we sat so the babies could be in the shade. My kids were a crazy and made a mess of a table and they cleaned it up no problem with smiles. The portions sizes are great for adult and kids! The staff are SO friendly and a pleasure to be served by! We will 100% be back and give them 5/5!“
