“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.“

“Our reservation was promptly addressed when we arrived and presented ourselves. As we were invitingly ushered to our cubicle , which by the by was appropriately adorned in the colours of valentine, we were pleasantly impressed by the quality of noise reduction the alcove offered. Our host Ger displayed the courtesy that represented your boasts. The food, especially, mirrored your exquisite cuisine menus, and tasted divinely delectable Kudos to the manager and staff of the Yorkdale “Pickle Barrel.”“

“We had a great experience at Hogan’s Restaurant & Bar last night. The food and service were excellent, and they did an amazing job accommodating our large group. Everything was handled smoothly, and the staff were friendly, organized, and attentive the whole time. They also have a really cool bar downstairs, and they helped make sure our whole group got in and was taken care of without any issues. Highly recommend for both dinner and a fun night out!“

“Felt like a wonderful home made meal. Warm, hearty vegan platter which was great value! Not to mention delicious.The owner was a sweet and gentle man, felt like he was truly concerned with our well being. One note is to move away from styrofoam but otherwise just amazing! Highly recommend as this is one of the best vegan places I've been to!

“We had such a great experience at Montana’s thanks to our server Kass! From the moment we sat down, Kass was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.

We don’t drink alcohol, but she was amazing about keeping our pop and water refilled without us ever having to ask, she was always one step ahead. She checked in at the perfect times, made great menu recommendations, and everything came out exactly how we wanted.

You can really tell when someone cares about their guests. Kass made the whole night feel relaxed and enjoyable instead of rushed. Service like that honestly makes the meal even better. We’ll definitely be coming back and asking for Kass again!

“1st time there. While sitting at the bar before reservation was great. They were very intention and kept checking in. Once seated at our reservation time, it was a bit before easier came to ask if we needed a drink or ready to order. Once he arrived he was great. When the meal came, one of the sides was cold. Informed them and they quickly got me a new side and have a discount. They were fast and very apologetic. I would definitely recommend this place“

Gurminder the manager/ owner is absolutely phenomenal. From our very first conversation, it was clear that he was dedicated to making our SUPRISE BDAY PARTY for my 2 kids truly unforgettable. He meticulously crafted a custom menu tailored to my exact needs and budget, and his great patience not forgetting his attention to details was truly IMPRESSIVE😊 The food was delicious and the cocktails were great. Talk about top-notch presentation 👏👏👏what really made the night shine was the exceptional service Tami and Rebecca had provided, they both were patient, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our guests had an amazing time. I would totally recommend Turtle Jacks to anyone looking for a “good time” they truly know how to deliver an unforgettable experience!!!
