“Felt like a wonderful home made meal. Warm, hearty vegan platter which was great value! Not to mention delicious.The owner was a sweet and gentle man, felt like he was truly concerned with our well being. One note is to move away from styrofoam but otherwise just amazing! The only thing that I didn't like, their bottle service is expensive and you may not find a table so it's best to reserve it from early. The dj plays jamaican dancehall, afro- beats, R&B and trini music. And they know how to mix, and the club is for mature clientele so crowd is in their 30s to 50s with the odd mature 20s ppl. I had a blast and so did my husband.“

“A very cozy spot where you can find unconventional offerings. I’m talking about the impressive list of meats which are injected into classic dishes. I’m a huge fan of local seasonal and wild foods and this is one of the only spots in the city that executes flawlessly on them, doing the ingredients a real justice.

Aside from the elk, venison, bison, and foraged mushrooms, I think these guys nail their duck dishes perfectly. Pairing it with the foie gras is just bliss.

“The ambience of the spacious back patio is great. People were enjoying beer from early lunch time. Union burger comes with lots of crispy french fries. Burger itself was juicy. Steak tartare is decent but as for me slices of the bread are greasy. Our server was not friendly but okay. It seemed that she rushed to go home? I think I had high expectations because I heard some nice reputations.
I went there with high expectations after hearing about the restaurant's past Michelin star status and reviews from friends. Although the food was delicious, it was hard to say that it was a great experience considering the service and price. I felt the price was high, but I wonder if it's in this price range for a store on Ossington avenue.
The inside of the restaurant is not large, so if you are traveling with a stroller or pet, there are seats outside on the patio facing the street.

By the way the food and drinks were fantastic! But our server Connor was just beyond incredible and adorable! It didn't hurt that he told me how gorgeous I was! Lol! And brought a shot for the celebrations!

I enjoyed the omlette with fruit, toast and homefries! I only took a picture of my meal but everyone enjoyed their brunch! The drinks were amazing too!

“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.“

The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing meal. I had heard George browns culinary program was excellent but I had no idea the advanced techniques this next generation of chefs were learning. I was very impressed all the food was excellent and well prepared. The temperatures and textures of each dish were perfect. I’ve eaten in many high end places and the chef house delivered a meal as good as any that I’ve had in terms of technique and preparation. I expected to see at least a broken sauce or two from the students but they were on point that evening. The service delivered by the students was also excellent“

After reading some of the other comments in the question section, we called to confirm the extent to which they are wheelchair accessible. Utterly disappointed to find out that although they have a ramp, the only accessible dining areas are if you're with one of the large groups. Meaning that as an individual with accessibility needs, I was excluded from dining at this restaurant. My accessibility needs are temporary, however you can guarantee I won't be dining at this restaurant even when I'm able to walk again, until they rectify this situation. Inexcusable to exclude people with mobility needs in this day and age.“

“The rationale not to offer bread because it may have to be tossed uneaten, with charging for bread if desired, is bogus. If you have bread to sell you will have unsold bread to toss. Having to pay to soak in wonderful sauces puts a sour point in an otherwise wonderful meal. One pays a premium price for a premium meal experience. There is no justification for skimping. Add $1 per meal to cover bread goes unnoticed. Having to pay for bread if asked is self-defeating“

“Delicious every time! The seasonal menu is always a delight for the senses. I live two provinces away and we happened upon this gem of a place a couple of years ago. Yesterday, I had a layover in Toronto of around 12 hours. Took a terminal train, the up train, the subway and my feet all the way from Winnipeg to dine here. Scrumptious. Healthy. Leaves you feeling full without guilt! Two thumbs way up!“

“Before attending tiff we had starters and wine. The house pate with toast was excellent. The salmon mosaic was an incredible combo of salmon tartare with blood orange and lovage pesto and a puffed rice pillow. Great combination of flavours. A little pricey, however very worth the cost. An interesting variety of wines by the glass and bottle. If we hadn't been rushed we would have loved to stay for a complete meal. We will visit again soon.“

“Have been to Local 1794 several times with friends, family and colleagues and never been disappointed. Really feels like my local. The staff are friendly and most accommodating. The food is tasty and menu options pretty good. Cocktails are pretty great too!

Parking: Parking is a bit tricky and even more so when the Toronto Cafe is set up. May be some side street parking and a small Green P lot just east of Coxwell Ave. and west of the restaurant on Danforth Ave.

Kid-friendliness: Staff are very accommodating with menu options for toddlers despite there being no official kids menu. Booster chairs are readily available upon request.“
