“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.“

“Came back to our favorite restaurant to see if our favorite waitress was working tonight. She was definitely there tonight and the service was incredible as always. The ambiance was amazing and the food was fantastic. Stephanie, as always, made us feel very comfortable and was always making sure we were good and if we needed anything. Food was great and dessert was even better. Definitely coming back.“

“Everything was great. Our server Becca was attentive, pleasant and very professional. It made for a great night. The food was delicious. I had the lobster pasta, highly recommended. Be warned that it was a bit salty, but I feel that should be expected since it is seafood.“

“I dropped by for my birthday on Sunday. I must say that I truly enjoyed my meal. The ribs were soft and full of flavor and the drinks were nice. “We had to wait a while for our server to come take our drink order however it was not her fault. The hostess did not tell her we were seated and waiting. Tiffany our server was VERY friendly and had a great sense of humour. For the time of night we were there it was busy and she had quite a few tables to cover on her own. Kitchen took a while for our food but it did come out hot and tasty. Nice atmosphere and liked that there was a DJ that seemed to enjoy his job. Food tasted amazing just had to wait a while“

“Incredible Jamaican vegan cuisine. I’ve wanted to try Ital food for a while but found it hard to get to some of these places. Decided to try out the new Line 5 LRT and this spot is next to the Keelesdale Station. Mainly a takeout spot but they allowed me to eat there because it wasn’t too busy. Loved the food!!“

“From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with outstanding hospitality. The staff and manager were incredibly friendly, professional, and made me feel right at home. Their customer service was easily 10/10, and they consistently checked in throughout my meal to make sure everything was perfect. I ordered the 12oz steak, and it was cooked exactly the way I asked juicy, flavorful, and easily one of the best steaks I’ve had. To make the experience even better, the head chef surprised me with some complimentary food, which was such a thoughtful gesture. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers both amazing food and exceptional service. Huge shoutout to the entire team for going above and beyond. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience!“

“Everytime I come here I always have a great time and the food is always great. Today I met some friends after a long time, so glad we came back to this location. The server was super sweet, Rebecca, she was so kind, she always came to see if everything was okay, if we needed anything. The reason I gave the food 4 stars is because we ordered the fire n' ice dessert because the fried part of the dessert tasted off or stale. Rebecca understood and offered us another dessert - I wish her the all the best in her future!“

“I love how they allow you to substitute toppings at no extra cost! I don't like onions, so I always ask them to substitute it for avocados. My go to is the aloha classic with extra salmon.
Their portion sizes are really good for the price. The staff is always very welcoming. Would recommend either calling in to order for pick up or going in store to order.“

The menu is packed with everything you could crave and they've got breakfast, lunch, and dinner so they're sure to have something for everyone (the restaurant name really does fit!). I ordered the shrimp and chips combo and calamari for dine-in, and a burger combo for takeout. Everything tasted delicious and the food came out fast and hot. Also the staff was really friendly and made sure we got all the condiments we needed. Super clean dining area and it felt so nice and open.
