“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.“

“Everything was great. Our server Becca was attentive, pleasant and very professional. It made for a great night. The food was delicious. I had the lobster pasta, highly recommended. Be warned that it was a bit salty, but I feel that should be expected since it is seafood.“

“Not truly wheelchair accessible. I was very much looking forward to dining here. After reading some of the other comments in the question section, we called to confirm the extent to which they are wheelchair accessible. Utterly disappointed to find out that although they have a ramp, the only accessible dining areas are if you're with one of the large groups. Meaning that as an individual with accessibility needs, I was excluded from dining at this restaurant. My accessibility needs are temporary, however you can guarantee I won't be dining at this restaurant even when I'm able to walk again, until they rectify this situation. Inexcusable to exclude people with mobility needs in this day and age.“

“I dropped by for my birthday on Sunday. I must say that I truly enjoyed my meal. The ribs were soft and full of flavor and the drinks were nice. Shout big out and Thank you to my server,Nia, his customer service was on par and excellent. Made sure that we got our meals on time and that everything was ok. I will definitely be visiting again.“

“A very cosy uptown restaurant ! I have been several times over the years and it never disappoints. Was there again last night and have to say the veal scallopini was excellent. It was a tough choice as there are so many delicious things on the menu. The friendly and excellent service, food and ambiance was perfect. A big thank you to the staff for such an enjoyable evening. Jack Astor’s is always a fun spot on game nights, but our lovable server Norah ,made this visit extra special on the Mexico vs England FIFA WC game. From the moment we walked in, Norah greeted us with the warmest smile and set the perfect vibe for the night. She was not only incredibly friendly and attentive but also seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even asked — refilling drinks, checking in at just the right moments, and making everyone at the table feel welcome.

Her energy was contagious — she kept the atmosphere upbeat, made great recommendations, and somehow managed to keep everything running smoothly even during the busy game night rush.

Between the amazing food, the lively vibe, and top-notch service from Norah, it honestly felt like VIP treatment. They turned a regular night out into a truly memorable experience.

“We truly enjoyed a leisurely lunch today at Kelsey's Richmond Hill. We need to give a lot of the credit and thanks to our server, Sarah, who was always there when we needed her. She provided us with some excellent suggestions for food and drinks as well as impeccable service coming from a warm and friendly person. While my wife was thoroughly enjoying a cup of tea and a hearty soup with salad and a sandwich, I was just beside myself with every bite of the mushroom melt burger. The burger and fries were prepared and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend that you try this burger, especially if you love mushrooms. Treat yourself. I was also introduced to a delicious refreshing beer called Muskoka Pineapple Ninja. I've never seen it before and it appears that if I can't find anywhere else I'll have to go back. All in all, this was a perfect afternoon. Also, we have promised ourselves that we are going to do this again next week.“

“Delicious every time! The seasonal menu is always a delight for the senses. I live two provinces away and we happened upon this gem of a place a couple of years ago. Yesterday, I had a layover in Toronto of around 12 hours. Took a terminal train, the up train, the subway and my feet all the way from Winnipeg to dine here. Scrumptious. Healthy. “What a divine evening at the Seasons restaurant in the newly - named Pan Pacific Hotel. The spacious, beautifully - appointed dining room with white table linens and exquisite glassware was set in a high - ceilinged environment. This ambience provided comfort and elegance. We were welcomed and offered our choice of seating which included our quiet booth near a modern encased fireplace. Our velvety smooth mushroom soup with oil infusion was an excellent beginning to this celebratory dinner. Our moist ,glazed turkey and cranberry stuffing were adorned with mashed potatoes, roasted carrots and brussel sprouts. Berry compote with creamy vanilla ice cream topped this delicious dinner. The waitress made this festive holiday meal a celebration to remember !“

“I've been going to this restaurant for 71 years and nothing much has changed. Top notch food at a very respectable price. The staff are the greatest and very friendly and helpful. Hard to believe in this day and age that you can go to a restaurant and get treated supremely with respect. Rude staff and an even more rude owner... don't bother complaining about anything because you're just going to get cussed at... absolutely appalling behavior... the usual crowd are loud obnoxious and seriously over their limits. I've witnessed tables and chairs falling all over the place on many occasions because people are way too intoxicated to think. The owner acts like he's untouchable and says things like " you're in a bar what do you expect " . I expect to be treated as a paying customer. Never going there again. also... one of the servers is literally always drunk out of her mind... my very first visit she was crying about her ex... and almost every time I ordered wings SHE GOT MY ORDER WRONG....over and over again!! let's just say ive had many free wings and stuff from her as an apology... I gave them a chance. several actually. but after that conversation with the owner.... im done. DO NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!“

“From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with outstanding hospitality. The staff and manager were incredibly friendly, professional, and made me feel right at home. Their customer service was easily 10/10, and they consistently checked in throughout my meal to make sure everything was perfect. I ordered the 12oz steak, and it was cooked exactly the way I asked juicy, flavorful, and easily one of the best steaks I’ve had. To make the experience even better, the head chef surprised me with some complimentary food, which was such a thoughtful gesture. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers both amazing food and exceptional service. Huge shoutout to the entire team for going above and beyond. “Have had both steak and crab here and both were excellent, you can get equally good steak for a similar price at many other steakhouses in Toronto but the seafood stood out to me. Side dishes weren't anything special but are included with some orders.

It's not cheap but service was very friendly and to me it was worth it.“

“I love how they allow you to substitute toppings at no extra cost! I don't like onions, so I always ask them to substitute it for avocados. My go to is the aloha classic with extra salmon.
Their portion sizes are really good for the price. The staff is always very welcoming. Would recommend either calling in to order for pick up or going in store to order.“

“Food, service and atmosphere is consistent. I believe the menu changed a few years back and for the better. The food and drinks here are delicious. The prices are bit on the higher side if you are on a budget or have a larget family. Lots of free parking. Nice, spacious, cozy patio. TVs by the bar area to watch sporting events. The staff overall is friendly. It's a great local, quick-bite, go to place after work in Richmond Hill. Very relaxed ambient.“

“I have stayed at the Novotel multiple times over the past 6 years. While the food and drinks are what you would expect and are still great, the service has always been outstanding. Specifically if you get the chance to meet Ghnet at night in the bar or Adam on breakfast service. They just know how to treat people and are a factor in staying at the Novotel when I come to town. Cannot say enough about both these people and their commitment to service.“
