“My friend and I often go for breakfast on Friday mornings to the Sunset Grill. The service is always fast accurate and friendly. On our last visit, we had a lovely waitress named Allie, who took care of our order. During our visit she was especially attentive and returned to refill our coffee and asked how our food was as well as if she could bring HP sauce or hot sauce. It’s unusual to enjoy such superb service! We have found that the food is always delicious and prepared with fresh ingredients. I highly recommend this location.“

The new space feels very cramped.
There was a big light fixture right in front of the TV ahead of us.
The place still reeks of paint from the recent renovation.

Ordered steak and paid extra for a loaded baked potato and was severely disappointed.

There's clearly some cost cutting in effect because they used maybe teaspoon of sauce across two potatoes and 4 of the most pitiful tiny pieces of bacon. It was unseasoned and bland.

The steak wasn't seasoned at all. Broccoli was over cooked and unseasoned.

Spinach dip was great but you can tell the portions are smaller now.

Overall the food was incredibly bland and low quality.

If you HAVE to eat here stick to the burger and spinach dip“

“Breakfast is the important meal of the day and we like to eat our brekky here at Sunset Grill because, they have delicious breakfast menu, very filling and the staff are friendly. 😊👍“

“My friends and I have now been going to Gabby's for quite a few times, maybe about 6 by now, usually on Sundays. The last couple of times have been on a Friday and Monday. We are mostly handicapped, using walkers or a wheelchair. I usually make the reservation, and specify a table near the lovely large windows. It has never been a problem on Sundays, but there seems to be one waitress who objects to our sitting near the window as we will "block" the servers. It is difficult enough being handicapped never mind having a surly woman telling us we are a problem. So, maybe this woman doesn't work on Sundays. We love this restaurant and the food and atmosphere is so great, usually. Most disappointing.“

While some places push items just to clear out old stock, it’s clear this kitchen operates differently. Their curated, limited menu allows them to master every single dish.

“Went there recently and sat on the patio which is nice and sunny even in early evening and had an awesome shrimp pizza. My boyfriend had a tasty chicken teriyaki stir fry. Love the new menu and the pizza was amazing!!“

While big chains like Cora often serve potatoes that are dry and severely under-seasoned, Markham Station gets it right. Their roasted potatoes come out boasting a gorgeous golden-orange seasoned crust crispy on the outside, perfectly soft and fluffy on the inside and they are so genuinely flavourful that you don't even need a drop of ketchup. Paired with some of the best-tasting pancakes you'll ever encounter, it’s easily a top-tier breakfast experience.
The Atmosphere & The Vibe
What really elevates the place, though, is the living, breathing ecosystem inside. Stepping into a 24-hour booth feels like stepping into a sanctuary, whether you're grabbing a solo post-test bite, looking for a low-key date spot, or winding down after an evening class.
A massive shout-out to the middle-aged blue-collar crew holding down a booth nearby, especially the fast-talking guy with that classic gravelly, smoke-weathered voice. Even with that deep, raspy edge, he brought an infectious, high-energy rhythm and a genuine smile, swapping laughs and keeping things effortlessly polite. Combined with regulars quietly sharing a mocktail and sweet, familiar small talk between the staff and elderly patrons, it brought that unmistakable, unscripted working-class small-town Canadian energy right into the heart of Scarborough.
It feels entirely timeless honestly, sitting there absorbing the positive, salt-of-the-earth energy gives it that pure 1980s small-town Scarborough feel. Five stars, zero notes. Also to top it off managed to spot a clean BMW M6 that had Rohana Wheels on it and a nice front lip and aftermarket exhaust system.“
