“I saw the raving reviews so wanted to check this place out. The bahn mi is good bulgogi has good flavor. The meat is pretty chewy though, and I would say the combo definitely is not worth the extra 5 bucks. I'd stick to the sandwich. The service was pretty quick and the lady was very nice. It's a small hole in the wall location. I would however avoid this area after about 5/6pm. This area is home to many people whom reside outside lol. As someone who has been to almost every bahn mi place in Portland I will say comparing to best baguette, bahn mi fresh, and a few other bahn mi places i think killer bahn mi is the best! But it is quite spendy for a bahn mi. You pay for it in the amount of meat they give you but still. If you like this kind of bahn mi I'd recommend also checking out an xuyen bakery. It's this little bakery on like 51st and foster but they have some of the biggest bahn mis I've ever had for 1/2 the price.“

“Love it. I get the V1 or pho at least a couple times a month. Tempura ? shrimp perfectly fried. Light, crispy, not greasy. This family-run restaurant is the best place to dine East of 82nd on Sandy. Clean, pretty, beautifully decorated. Order online food ready within 15 minutes. Great service and welcoming, unlike many other Vietnamese restaurants around town.“

“Make sure you find the menu and check what they are selling for the day. They will usually have 2 kinds of noodles they serve with different broth and topping..What brought me here was, I wanted to come here and try the curry chicken vietnamese pho style, but they only serve that on Fri and Sat..They have family restaurants a total of 3 or 4, but only this location open on Monday..When I walked in around 3, they had 2 options of pho. I chose the pho ga which is chicken noodle soup..Pho broth is savory, clean, comforting, and flavorful. My white friends ? doesn't understand why it is good when I told them. So they watched me eat. And then they finally had a sip of the broth they were like wow. It's good chicken broth and my second favorite I have taste. My all time favorite is still in Sacramento ca, pho anh dao for chicken pho..Price was 16.50 for the pho which is high. The quality of the bowl of soup and noodles really made up for it. During the whole trip I needed something comforting, I was missing my soups and asian eats..Overall it was casual restaurant for a lone eating experience. There is a nice parking lot with free parking. Hope this review helps and let me know what you like or I missed out on while in portland. Thanks for reading. Have a yelptastic day.“

“Terrific experience! My boyfriend has been here twice and couldn't wait to bring me. We live in the neighborhood and couldn't believe we hadn't found this place sooner. We were impressed by the presentation of our drinks, appetizers, and entrees. We also enjoyed the best crab ragoons we've ever had (ordered 2 more to-go). Everything about the restaurant was clearly well thought-out. From the dining area to the bar to the bathroom, it is well-designed and extremely clean. To top it off, the owner of restaurant was super friendly and took time to chat with us. We are already making plans to bring our friends next week. Love this place!“

“Their lemongrass tofu, wraps and green (coconut?) pie are my absolute favorites. If friends come in from out of town, I go to Bui and buy one of everything and create such an beautiful, mysterious (some items wrapped in banana leaves) and delicious luncheon table. They have vegan to omnivore selection and lovely staff.“

“I lived in Vietnam for 3 years and as soon as I walked in, it felt like “ home” (I was born there but raised in the states) The sights, sounds and smells brought me back. This unassuming no frills family run humble place only serves 2 soups a day (3 on wed) but does them well. Come early before they run out because even though it says they’re open until 4, they often run out by noon. I’ve been twice. Once on a Friday at noon and was one of the last ones to order the pho ga. On a Wednesday we went at 11am and they only had one out of the 3 soups left. Will plan accordingly next time. Anxious to try their sister establishments. I briefly spoke to Peter and had a lovely chat. He works diligently to accommodate his customers and is consistent with the quality of his food. Well done Peter! ????I’ll be coming back again“

“The food is so good here. It's so good every time I go, and I like everything about this place. The utter lack of pretense, the excellent stocks and equally refined seasoning pastes, the friendly and informative matron, the excellent meats and rice pancake crepes, and on and on and on.“

“I have eaten here numerous times and the food is always fresh and delicious. I was dining here today and I observed some of the most outstanding customer service...I felt the need to comment. There was a woman seated who was perhaps effected by schizophrenia or some other challenge where she was having a vivid conversation with herself. She was able to order food, but was also trying to engage the server in whatever delusion she was experiencing. He was so incredibly kind and patient with her through the whole process. It was noteworthy. Great job, highly recommend this place!“

“I have only been the one time, for now. Had to get the classics on my first visit and 3 for 3 killed it!-Beef Combo pho 5/5*rich, delicate, flavorful but subtle. everything I look for in pho. AMAZINGBEST I HAVE EVER HAD-Salad Rolls w/peanut sauce 5/5*obviously made fresh maybe to order. Crisp vegetables, light flavor, slightly chewy wrap. Peanut sauce was on point, not that sweetened garbage some places pass off as peanut sauce. Real deal holifield. PERFECT-Vietnamese Iced Coffee 5/5enough caffine that I am writing this, not to sweet and rich coffee flavor. SO GOODcan not wait to come back to try everything but especially the broken rice.Thank you Yoonique, you will be seeing more of me and meeting my friends and family. Nailed it!!! Yum.“

“Heard of this place thru friends and referral but did not get a chance to try their food until today. I’m very happy, impressed, and satisfied with the Special Sausage Egg Combo dish and Peach Tea drink this evening. Really love the generous portion in the box, the meat is so tender and so flavorful and the side veggie, pickle is so fresh. This dish is very common and can be found at any Vietnamese restaurant, but this place is definitely a step above. Recommended!“

“Don’t believe the half rate reviews — This is one of Oregon’s best places to get pho. Quick, tons of fresh toppings. Take a chance and try some of their other soups and dishes… You won’t be disappointed. Also, if you order a dish with bread, you’re likely to get a loaf *just baked* at Lanvin, directly next-door!“

“The staff is very friendly. From order to table is fast. Never been disappointed with the food. When they're busy they're super busy and the hassle bustle atmosphere adds passively to the experience (in my opinion). Must try. We will always keep coming back (since 2014)!“

“This is my favorite Ph`o place in the area. Their food is really great, the veggies are always super fresh. But it can be a bit difficult to get someone's attention if you have a question or just want more water or tea.Parking: They have a large free parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and has disabled parking spaces right in front of the front door.“

“I'm stingy with 5-Stars, this earns more like 4.5, but heck, let's round up.Winner, Winner on taste and price, i.e., value. The first item is usually the most popular and that applies here: the pan fried rice cakes were excellent? The salted fish and chicken fried rice is one of the best versions I've tried. For certain, it's tops in Portland. The complementary tea was above average, while the iced limeade was oh so refreshing.Service was friendly and fast. Prices are more than fair. Ambiance is so-so as it seems like the seating layout could be improved to allow for more customers. Parking can be tough during peak hours. Lastly, they close way too early for an Asian restaurant, especially a popular tone.“

“Best Bun Bo Hue! We went to Hue City in Vietnam, the birthplace of Bun Bo Hue, and this place is still better! The owners are so lovely and hard working. Please keep it up! You don't have to spend 27 hours traveling to Vietnam to get a bowl of amazing Bun Bo Hue.“

“My favorite lunch when I'm on lunch break. Delicious sandwiches, fast, always so filling. Their bread is particularly amazing, and the pork meatballs. Highly recommend the #2, #5, & #6, but everything is incredible you'll be happy with anything on the menu. I love the coffee and tea also“
“This place is an ABSOLUTE TREASURE!! The banh mi is some of the tastiest I’ve ever had at the best price I’ve ever seen. Phuoc, the nun who runs the cart, speaks very little english but is the sweetest person in the world. She takes her time making each dish one by one and while you’re waiting you can sit or walk around the beautiful temple that the cart is connected to. Whether you’re vegan or not, I highly recommend making this spot a regular visit!!“

“Quick In and Out Deli offers items made daily and refrigerated items. No dining in but they do have a high counter if you need to eat it there. I did it this time since I was hungry and on a quick lunch break and because my order, Bánh Bèo (small round and soft rice cake with a good amount of mung bean, dried shrimp paste, and sautéed scallions paired with drinkable homemade fish sauce) was so delicious. Bánh Bèo is one of the staples of Vietnamese street food! Their Bánh Bèo is way better than Phở Kim with flying colors! I'll say 4 out of 5 because the cake should have been a bit thinner. Otherwise, everything that came with it was spot on, tasty, and so yummy! They offer a decent and solid quality of various Vietnamese snacks and street food you can't find elsewhere, such as bánh giò, bánh ít, sesame ball with mung bean, to name a few. There are limited entries with soup and noodles also made to order such as porridge, and fried rice among other things. They cater food as well with reasonable price. I ordered a few months ago a tray of shrimp spring rolls and clear noodle chick stir-fried; they were delicious, cheap, and in good quantity. They do have Bánh Mì made to order. Vietnamese Ham is their specialty; they have various kinds of ham from regular to fried to delicacies such as snail-embedded!Small family-owned! It gives you the feeling of ordering food from your grandma. You have to check it out if you want to see what kind of Vietnamese street food they have!“

“It was my first time trying Pho MeKha after seeing an Instagram reel on this restaurant. It was recommended to try the mì nam vang and I’m so glad I did. I ordered the soup one and it did not disappoint. The flavors and herbs are refreshing and soothing, and love the protein included in this meal. I was very full and happy after, and would highly recommend this place and return again… all the way from Bellevue, WA! ?“

“Food was super authentic and nice. The atmosphere was super loud with music, and the lobby was dim. If you're not a person who likes loud music, then this is not for you. They have a little stage for people to sing karaoke. Most of food price range between $15-20. They don't have a soda machine therefore there is no refill.“

“Pho Korner! We’ve been going here for years so I haven’t thought about reviewing until today. In a town filled with great Pho options Pho Corner is our favorite. One thing that separates them is they grill the chicken / cook the meat differently. It’s so much better than boiled chicken at other places. The service is always wonderful. They’re really fast with food orders. Today my wife ordered Pho Ga and I ordered Beef Fried Rice. With an appetizer of PorK Pot Stickers. Menu hack - use the sauce from the pot stickers with the fried rice. It takes an amazing dish and levels it up over 9000.Nice spot, lots of seating. Varied crowd. Great take out too. We love coming here a land typically make the trip several times a month. It’s so good.Oh, and totally reasonable/ great prices.“

“Since I was in the neighborhood, I decided to stop by and try this place out. I am having the Bun Bo Hue dish and a side of salad rolls. The Bun Bo Hue soup is very flavorful and tastes good. All of the different kinds of meat in there were tender and good. The condiments of vegetables that went with the soup were fresh. This dish is worth a try for the people that like authentic dishes.. The soup is not everyone's cup of tea.... Everything in the pork and shrimp salad rolls tasted fresh other than the salad roll wraps could have been soaked in hot water a little bit longer to get it softer. This place is worth a try. They do have other dishes.“

“Best Vietnamese food I’ve had since I lived in Little Saigon 10 years ago. We ordered the com tam suon nuong (broken rice and pork chop plate) and ca kho mang (braised fish with bamboo). Everything was incredible, reminded me of my grandma’s cooking. Portions were also very generous!Com suon - meat was tender, sweet, and well seasoned. Pickles were delicious. Nuoc mam (fish sauce) had a sweet garlicky flavor I’ve never tasted before in nuoc mam. I want that nuoc mam recipe!!!Ca kho - well seasoned, went so amazingly with the bamboo shoots. The sauce it was braised in was so punchy and tasty. They added a ton of green onions on top, exactly the way I like it. And I added some of the fish sauce from the pork chop plate, so so good!Extra points for service because I’m a Vietnamese person who speaks super broken Vietnamese but the cashier didn’t shame me like some places do. They were very nice, and even though there was a little bit of a language barrier we worked out my order just fine. The only slight negative I have to say about this place is the shop is kind of hot and stuffy. But that’s not much of a bother since it’s a to-go place only.My only regret is that I’ve been living in the Portland area for almost two years and only just discovered this place! Will be returning many times.“

“This hidden gem is the best Vietnamese around! It's a mom-and-pop type operation. The owners are fantastic cooks and go shopping for fresh ingredients daily. I dine-in a couple of times a month and have never been disappointed. Their crab rangoon is made by hand (not frozen/pre made). I love the depth of flavor in the house special noodles. Their Bahn Mi is the best I've had in Oregon (the french bread is absolutely perfect)! Last but not least, the flavors of their Pho broth are so delicate and balanced. Do yourself a favor and try them all.“

“This tiny and plain looking but surprisingly good Vietnamese deli is in the heart of Montavilla. It is the second time I’ve lived in this area and in total I’ve live here for nine years but it is the first time I went to Banh Mi Nam Loc. This is such a hole in the wall that if you blink you’ll probably miss it completely. From the outside this place does not look like much. This was part of the reason why I never felt like going in. I had a really bad experience the first time I lived in the area when I visited a purportedly banh mi sandwich joint but I swear it was a front for some triad or money laundering operation. However, a few years ago I read about Banh Mi Nam Loc on Portland Monthly magazine and was intrigued. It was warm today and I was craving salad rolls and a banh mi sandwich. My go to was out of salad rolls and I remembered this place that was just two blocks away so away I went. I am kicking myself for not getting to this place sooner. I have to warn you if you are looking for a nice, cozy deli, this is not the place for you. The counter is stacked high with piles of cookies, Vietnamese delicacies and sweetmeats. It literally looks like a dive deli but one look at the photos on the walls and I knew I came to the right place. The dishes depicted confirmed it. They had banh khot, which are little Vietnamese rice flour pancakes topped with shrimp and are really hard to find. But there it was, depicted in all its glory. I also saw a variety of other Viet specialties such as bo kho and bun bo Hue. I ordered the goi cuon (salad rolls) and banh mi dac biet (banh mi special). While I was waiting, a regular came in and ordered some bo kho (beef stew). The owner knew him and his order and this made me realize I was in for a treat. When I got home I opened up my to go container and I confirmed I was in for a treat. The goi cuon was really fresh and well made. Nothing is worse than a flaccid salad roll so I usually judge a goi cuon by how turgid it is. This was nice, compact and erect. Everything stayed in place when I bit into it and all the ingredients tasted super fresh. The banh mi dac biet was also very good. The baguette was not bad but what stood out was the charcuterie in the sandwich. Banh mi dac biet is special because of the filling. Various deli meats including ham, process meat products, pate, head cheese, and sausage are used. It’s not for everyone but I do love a well made banh mi dac biet. It’s the only time I’ll eat head cheese and pate. The veggies used were really fresh and crunchy. It was exactly what I was craving on this warm summer day. I was very satisfied and can’t wait to go back for more. Next time I am getting the banh khot for sure. If you are looking for authentic Vietnamese deli food, give this dive deli a try.“
